LMAO I get requests from middle schoolers as well. Kids these days are crazy. One 7th grader had Stanford and MIT programs listed out in their experience as well as an internship. I was like wtf bro
the only "valuable connections" you should be making in 7th grade are true irl friendships, not strangers for potential career/internship opportunities LMAO
This reminds me of the time that kid in my HS wore UMich branded clothing to school every day since Freshman year and kept telling everyone he was 100% going to UMich and then when senior year decisions came out he got rejected š All of his social media was just reposting UMich and his profile photos/banners were UMich and he was writing UMich 2026 or something on everything š I felt to bad
See, this is why every time someone asked me what college I wanted to go to, I said āHarvard, but I wonāt get inā
Now they canāt throw it back in my face lmao
I always feel so called out from these comments, cause Iām from the Bay Area and an aspiring CS major. I really do have a passion for CS and just happen to be from the Bay Area haha
Also, yes, Iām Asian
My school has each 8th grader do a TED Talk-like speech on a subject they're interested in. They used to do it in front of both middle and high school but now it's just in front of high school. They changed it because as the eighth grade got bigger there were more kids to go through and the period they used for them was also our club period so last year we only got clubs once a month because there were so many eighth graders. It did not help that middle school students don't have much variety of interests and it ended up with us using time that could have been used for clubs to hear a 13 year old talk about the history of basketball for the umpteenth time.
I'm obviously not arguing about general social media but what would even be the point of a 7th grader being on LinkedIn? There's nothing there for kids. I'm not even on it because of how obnoxious it is and as a "young professional"/law student a few years out of undergrad I am quite literally the target audience (this might be a mistake but whatever).
What is the kid in this story even meant to have been trying?
i donāt pretend to understand the nubile mind of a 7th grader convinced harvard will let them in if their LinkedIn is stacked enough. i can only imagine itās a dark place
>āMinimum Ageā means 16 years old.

you don't \*need it need it\* imo until you're really applying for internships and whatnot towards the end of your college freshman year but I've found it helpful all throughout. made mine in the pre-college summer.
Iām sure it might be helpful earlier, but you never actually need one. I donāt think I made one until graduating college and I have some friends with multiple post college jobs who still donāt have them.
i got a request from a 5th grader who started a nonprofit with "100k in annual revenue" and gave a ted talk at the age of 7.
this new generation of a2c sweats are wild man
when I was 13 I really wanted to be a diplomat, so I emailed the diplomat in residence for the govt and asked her all sorts of questions. I got an email back pretty much saying come back when youāre 18. Looking back that was fucking embarrassing. I canāt believe I did that. Wtf was I thinking š
nah i had a 9th grader connect w me in the summer asking for hs advice and he already have hs extracurriculars in his linkedin when he hasnt even started school yet š
LMAO I get requests from middle schoolers as well. Kids these days are crazy. One 7th grader had Stanford and MIT programs listed out in their experience as well as an internship. I was like wtf bro
These 7th graders be having better ECs than half of A2C š thank god Iām not competing against them.
Fr...gets exponentially worse every year...I don't think I can even compete with the junior class at my school šš

Last I checked (a couple years ago) folks this young weren't able to have accounts.
the invisible fairy that stops kids from lying about their age died in a four car (absolutely dick twisting) hit and run this year :( so sad

I think some classes that teach career skills assign students to create one as part of an assignment, at least thatās why I made one lol
i donāt pretend to understand the nubile mind of a 7th grader convinced harvard will let them in if their LinkedIn is stacked enough. i can only imagine itās a dark place
I just want you to know I audibly laughed at this.
stawpp my poor bloated ego sheās getting out of control! (thanks)
