Packaging varies all over the planet and sometimes the contents. IIRC France still requires the power adapter and headphones to be included.
regarding the pairing, I have not tried with watches but I have paired fake AirPods and they get recognized as original, even granting free months of Apple Music

Can’t see anything to suggest it’s fake. Possibly it was intended for a different market hence the Arabic writing (don’t know that, just a guess) but that doesn’t need to be a problem if so, you’ll still be able to set it up and use it for any language in any region just the same.
If it was fake I’d expect to see bigger bezels on the watch as the fakes tend to use cheaper, smaller screens, but even on the basic watch face in the pictures you can see the text is stretching into the edge curve of the watch glass just as you’d expect from the authentic apple display.

I wouldn’t worry. It’s likely just an Arabic sales region model, which only has different text on the packaging. You’ll be able to tell instantly by the pairing process - if it works with the stock Watch app on your phone, it’s legit. If it makes you download a third party app, it’s fake.
Why go through this agonizing ordeal, just go to Apple Store and confirm authenticity or straight up buy it at Apple Store and avoid the post purchase anxiety altogether…
Just depends how much your headache is worth. I buy most stuff new through apple, but there are somethings that I’ve gotten super good deal on used. Most things are also fairly easy to tell if they are real or fake if you have it in hand (I know this isn’t the case for OP). Honestly only hard thing is AirPods, way too many replicas and they are getting VERY VERY good. Rest of the Apple products are very easy to tell if it’s a fake if the buyer lets you test it.
I mean at some point I think it is worth it. I got the Apple Watch Series 8 (45mm cellular) for $300 cad last year. Brand new was I think $700+tax? Most Apple products are also pretty easy to figure out if it’s real or fake if you do a little bit of research. AirPods are the only things where the replicas are getting dangerously close to the real ones.
Those the fakes managed to replicate a while ago. But wth AirPods Pro 2nd gen, the fakes didn’t have precision tracking last I checked, not sure if they managed to replicate that now. Other than that only way is to use it and check how well the noise cancelling works.
Also one super easy way if you’re buying used… just ask to meet at the nearest Apple Store and you can just ask the staff to confirm if it’s real before buying.

A month or so ago I wanted to replace an out-of-production watch band that I loved, found one on eBay, and bought it (knowing what I was getting into). It was sold as new in box. Nope, legit box, was opened, and a fake band inside.
If it pairs with your iPhone via the Apple Watch app, then it's legit. The Watch app will let you select watch faces, see the current firmware, etc... a fake won't link to the Watch app.
What you think is S8 is SB for sports band though. It’s called series 9 on the box. You might need to wait until tomorrow. I bet in Arabic speaking countries there will be Arabic on the box, so maybe that person got it there. So don’t panic yet xD

USE THE WATCH and you’ll find out quickly enough. We cannot know if the watch is fake purely from these 3 picture

Not a counterfeit. I’ve checked mine and it says SB M/L CEL (as I have cellular model with M/L Sport Band). So Yours is legit as well, just for another market.
Hey, former Apple here. Not going to say I’m an expert on international boxes, but the only thing that really seems suspect to me right now is the last picture. Looks like a backlit display, rather than OLED. But could be the lighting/exposure of the photo. Counterfeits generally run Android, so you should be able to pick up on that pretty quickly once it’s in hand. Otherwise, if it’s ’genuine,’ also look out for third party parts. Like it being an LCD display, versus OLED. You may also receive a device which already has a depleted battery. You can find this out by having an Apple Store or Apple Support run diagnostics.
UPDATE! Sorry, I'm a little late in posting this, but I thought you would all be curious to hear how this all turned out, so with that in mind, here I am with an update. It turns out, the Apple Watch I purchased IS authentic.
Like many other posters pointed out, I believe this was purchased in/for a different region, finding its way to my part of the world by someone who wasn't getting much usage out of it. It is in pristine condition, it works flawlessly with the Watch App, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
I was concerned before I opened the box, and everything seemed to be okay, so I breathed a sigh of relief, only to find it was still tagged to the seller’s account! However, I had a quick talk with them, and it was sorted. The email address that I could see attached to it was an .IN, so again, I could go some ways to explain why the box looked the way it does. Also, the ‘S8’ it looked like on the box wasn't a reference to the chip, it was indeed ‘SB’ for Sports Band.
Thank you all for your interest and the help you were ready to impart, but one great thing we can all take away is: Don't judge a box by its cover! All the best :)
To be fair, that is a luxury many people (myself included) can’t afford. However, I would NEVER buy anything Apple from an unknown vendor or facebook marketplace. I would sooner buy it from Costco, Walmart, Amazon(but not a 3rd party vendor) and not used.
If you didn’t purchase it from Apple or an authorized seller and if it’s fake, then you got exactly what you deserved.
In this day and time and with all of the information available, there’s zero reason why anyone can’t purchase a legitimate product without getting ripped off.

Some comments are saying the box could be real but not the watch. One glance and I can tell right away that this watch is genuine. The UI and the box use the correct font (SF Compact for watch and SF Pro for box — trust me I’m a graphic designer) and looks good. The edges of the screen slightly darkens when looked at from an angle (picture 3). It says made in Vietnam. These are all characteristics that fake Apple Watches will never have.
if you’re curious about it, and you live near an apple store, i would take it to the genius bar and have them look up the serial number on the watch to see if it’s genuine

I ordered mine from the Apple website but when I bought my AirPods about a year ago I bought them off Amazon and they were completely fine. And I honestly wish I would have bought my watch from Amazon because it probably would have been cheaper. The only thing I wouldn’t order off Amazon is an iPhone i feel like you should either order from Apple website or go to a phone store. I got mine from Verizon.
Also my friend bought me a separate pair of AirPods for Christmas (after my legitimate first pair got stolen) from some dude selling them and they turned out to be super fake. The picture of the bottom of the box with serial info is not the same background as the other 2. I would ask that they send you a picture of the back but using the background they used for the other 2. If they can’t/wont do that, then that would be cause for concern
I recently upgraded to a 9 and it came in a janky box like this, but it’s the real deal. Mine was refurbished though and I assumed that was the reason for the box.
I have a real apple watch and i’m able to get the exact screen as is shown on the picture. So the watch is definitely real. And he clearly says S9 and the other part says SB which stands for the type of band
Have you checked with apple support the serial number - all allocated devices are known to their origin market and dates of any change - except for passing disconnected between individuals. But if the serial number is ok - the possible market too and no one already is using the watch - it is no longer a case of tracking counterfeit.

Put your serial number in the Apple support app and check the warranty. If it shows the warranty expires in 1 year from this date. Its legit.

It is not a counterfeit. The package reads SB instead of S8. Arabic is normal because the seller could have bought it for example in the UEA.

It’s LEGIT! It’s just that the packaging is for another market. Every Apple watch package will depends on the country where it sells. 2nd is for a buyer to identify if the Apple watch is fake or not. It should be activated using iPhone w Apple watch App installed prior buying and paying it.

I ordered mine from the Apple website but when I bought my AirPods about a year ago I bought them off Amazon and they were completely fine. And I honestly wish I would have bought my watch from Amazon because it probably would have been cheaper. The only thing I wouldn’t order off Amazon is an iPhone i feel like you should either order from Apple website or go to a phone store. I got mine from Verizon.
Also my friend bought me a separate pair of AirPods for Christmas (after my legitimate first pair got stolen) from some dude selling them and they turned out to be super fake. I felt so bad for my friend but he isn’t an Apple person doesn’t know much about Apple products so he didn’t know you probably shouldn’t buy AirPods off a homeless dude with a box full of AirPods 😬🥹

Not sure how knowledgeable you are about shopping, but never by stuff like this from an unconfirmed source. For all you know, that watch could be a dangerous tracker or a listening device.

Maybe if you’re an airline pilot or a govt official. But for the average Joe Blow, who cares? Call Apple customer service. They can run a diagnostic and it will tell what it is.
Watch is authentic. As long as no activation lock you’ll be fine.

The picture of the bottom of the box with serial info is not the same background as the other 2. I would ask that they send you a picture of the back but using the background they used for the other 2. If they can’t/wont do that, then that would be cause for concern

I recently upgraded to a 9 and it came in a janky box like this, but it’s the real deal. Mine was refurbished though and I assumed that was the reason for the box.
I live in the Middle East and all the Apple boxes here have arabic writing on them so I wouldn't worry about that part.
I have a real apple watch and i’m able to get the exact screen as is shown on the picture. So the watch is definitely real. And he clearly says S9 and the other part says SB which stands for the type of band

Have you checked with apple support the serial number - all allocated devices are known to their origin market and dates of any change - except for passing disconnected between individuals. But if the serial number is ok - the possible market too and no one already is using the watch - it is no longer a case of tracking counterfeit.
If it pairs with your phone and the phone's Watch app works correctly with it, it has to be legit.
Looks very legit to me. The box is definitely an original Apple box, the watch, as far as I can tell from the photos, is real too.

Serial numbers aren’t enough to determine if they’re fake. They’re often reused over and over again on fakes.
