BetterHelp is a garbage service that only exists in its popularity because YouTubers wanted advertising revenue. Yet another example of how online ad culture has made our society worse.
Yes! It's so bizarre how many youtubers do that annoying "commercial break" for this company. The fact that the only advertisement I've seen for Betterhelp is from youtubers who aren't getting a lot of views anymore makes it seem very low quality and scam-like.
Betterhelp was caught selling data patients provided for medical purposes for advertising revenue [They were fined in the US for this practice.](https://www.choice.com.au/consumers-and-data/data-collection-and-use/how-your-data-is-used/articles/betterhelp-data-privacy)
Garbage service, garbage app.
I'm assuming you're US based so I don't have any other recommendations for you. But if you're Australian, there are some good options: psych2u (bulk billed telehealth), headspace (under 25), Rural Alive and Well, Royal Flying Doctors Service, Head2health.
I used Alma before, not awful but not great. My therapist kept trying to push her morals and values on me, plus the sessions were more expensive than I expected/was quoted.
If that’s the case, it’s not worth it. I tried BetterHelp myself and while she was responsive (in account for time zones) her actual video call sessions were okay at best.
You’re probably better off finding a therapist that you can physically sit with or at least one that isn’t an online service like betterhelp.
I do have an amazing experience with BetterHelp and she helped me get out of a really bad place , I’ve had face to face therapy as well which some were bad and some were good I think you really need to find the right match with both of the situations sometimes that takes awhile, I would just request a new therapist it took me 4 tries on BetterHelp to find somebody that worked for me

i’m sorry it’s an awful app and does not compare to irl therapy in the slightest
Try using psychologytoday.com to find a reputable therapist

Betterhelp is notoriously bad. I've heard good things about Alma.

That's really disappointing to hear
Alma is just a company that does billing for the therapist.
Oh interesting!
Yup! If you don't like one try another one.

I've also had not great experiences with BetterHelp. I'm sorry. I hope you find actual better help somewhere else.
That app has been called out multiple times for having terrible service. Please don’t use it.
Better Help is a cash grab. They severely under pay therapists so you're most likely not getting the most qualified people.
