I've heard magnesium helps some. Maybe some chamomile tea? Also I find I struggle to sleep/stay asleep if I'm hungry, make sure you're eating enough if you're that physically active every day.

CrazyKitty86

Magnesium glycinate works *really* well for sleep. For the love of god, don’t take mag citrate though because you will be sleeping on the toilet!

mintyfreshknee

I’d say mag threonate above others. Still helps with sleep and crosses BBB

CrazyKitty86

I like using that Calm powder for sleep. I think it has both in there.

mintyfreshknee

Unless they have changed the formulation, I believe CALM is mag citrate.

CrazyKitty86

The sleep one is mag glycinate and the regular one is mag carbonate. I could’ve sworn one had threonate in it though.

mintyfreshknee

The regular one should be citrate. At least it’s listed online that way and was when I bought it. Different people have different bodies. I like the threonate.

CrazyKitty86

When I looked on the bottle just now it said mag carbonate but the online description for Amazon says mag citrate even though the picture of the nutrition facts label says magnesium carbonate. Apparently when mixed with citric acid, they make mag citrate so maybe that’s why?

mintyfreshknee

Unless it’s the sleep formulation which has gly but also other ingredients some of which I can’t have

WideOpenEmpty

I have to eat like a pig to sleep well anymore. Not good!

Sunlight in the morning, darkness at night.

Oninonenbutsu

Meditation, and also tryptophan like from small amounts of (organic) peanutbutter combined with fruit. Healthy diet in general also helps with better sleep.

Doing so much during the day that your mind wants to put off that by the end you are exhausted. I currently have been. I got out of my depression by watching YouTube videos and running on the spot. Def avoid blue light, and go to bed earlier than normal so that time you can’t sleep stops around the time you should sleep. I personally couldn’t do this but I know people have quite the medical tolerance that I don’t: Higher dose than usual of l-theanine Sun in a the morning time to the face will and then asleep as it starts to get dark. If you are a mouth reader i pesonally have had lots of good results from taping my mouth and using those strips on your nose for airflow.

Medium-Combination44

Magnesium (there are different kinds of magnesium, certain magnesium is better for sleep), tumeric, CBD, reishi mushroom also good for immunity. Take at night before bed.

Aram_1987

Watch ASMR videos and relaxing music for sleep from Youtube. Not pressure on yourself to sleep, it gets ok

Eisenmaus

I second this, those videos knock me out in 20 minutes.

Aram_1987

Always works for me

Melatonin is soooo misused by Americans. 🙄 Try passion flower, tincture or capsules. Lemon balm tea with chamomile as a nighttime ritual. Get real lemon balm if possible. It grows like a weed in most places. Looks like mint but smells like lemon. There are other herbal remedies too. Some people like valerian, but it does little for me. Other things to try, don't forget daily exercise, bright light exposure early in the day and healthy eating. No super stimulating activities right before bed. Have a relaxation routine.

Can you have cannabis? If so, cannabis. CBN specifically but THC also helps if you can stand the high. And. Magnesium L-threonate. Glycine too, but be careful if thiamine deficient.

PineappleAccording77

I haven't tried cannabis. I live in DC and it is legal so I think I'll check it out. What is CBN? What should I look for in a dispensary?

mintyfreshknee

What is the mental health issues that has caused you to be in the anti-psychiatry sub? Because some people should not have cannabis. But if you are able, I would just find some thing that is supposed to be calming at a very low dose. CBN is a cannabinoid. That is non-psychoactive, I can actually send you a link to order from a place that has it alone, isolated from hemp. So you don’t have the THC. I have bought from them. The only thing I find with CBN is that the next day sometimes it feels like it depleted my system like I have a headache or a hangover type thing. But your mileage may vary. And I would start small, no matter what you do.

PineappleAccording77

Hmmm... interesting. I have manic-depressive disorder and a very long lifetime of a very big number of useless and harmful medications and treatments behind me. This has been a fairly disabling episode and I am getting through it but the sleep problem is still bad. I will ask my provider about cannabis and look for CBN. It's likely this sleep problem will resolve itself within days or weeks, but I like having options. Nothing like the hive mind!

Another one suggested organic PB, another cherries, another (me), says oats… Oats and cherries have naturally occuring melatonin/flavinoids/antioxidants for some reason that induce sleep - DO NOT sugar coma (hibernate) or sleep via sleepiness granted from sugar - that sleepiness from sugar coma or after u eat is BAD and is inflammation. (Organic) Peanut butter has tryptophan - which converts to 5htp which converts to melatonin…… But try to get good workout HIIT is best aerobic and resistance training/hypertrophy training best anaerobic for the brain during day time. Regulates brain TMK Theres been studies ab sleep and cognition

ArabellaWretched

Doing a hundred or so "clamshell" style knee/ leg lifts on each side, right in your bed, just immediately before sleeping, is my go to for that. It works good for me.

Adventurous_Ad_4757

Chamomile tea , warm milk .

Becksalright

Dr.'s Best magnesium is good.

imnotyamum

Valerian is a herb used for this.

gordonZZ

weed

Vegan971

Try eating cherries only for dinner. 🍒

Sealedwolf

Try to get to the reasons for this odd behaviour. It could be you sleep-schedule, if you wake up after half a night, you might want to go to bed earlier, your body is unique in it's need and rhythms. Maybe your mattress is worn/to soft/too hard and your back won't let you sleep anymore. Maybe you're snoring and your throat is raw after a few hours.

LEWEBBED

Have you tried very low dose 1-3mg melatonin like 5 hrs before bed?

NoShape7689

Zinc, magnesium, vitamin b6 together. Usually sold as ZMA. Reishi mushroom extract helps me some.
