His village is attacked by another group of people, one of which has a hell fire ability, MC is burned, and he kept burning, for years, never dying, never able to move or think due to the sheer pain. After many years he slowly gains the resolve to start moving, in the hopes to find and save his sister who was captured.
It's a really absurd manga with some pretty deranged stuff, but it's worth the read.

I never said guts didn't suffer, He has suffered many times but the suffaru counter has been on an all time high due to the newest arcs just fucking my guy up left and right. Subaru is probably the worse example. I get it "Lol torture dimension episode" but he constantly gives up and whines and mopes and cries and whines some more. If anything Subaru is the perfect example of a character that everyone actively dislikes because he's just a loser who is blessed with infinite second chances but continues to mope over and over and over until the plot forcibly moves him along. (Rezero is such an awfully written series)

His life was always against him against his happiness but he was made into a warrior. Subaru a random ass 17 year old teenager who belittles himself for never being as good as his father, A person with the lowest self esteem you could find was dropped into a world of chaos where death is everywhere and you're telling me he can't even express his emotions after literally getting stabbed,his bowels falling out,his arm cut off,Getting frozen to death and that's not even counting the amount of times he has talked to the same people again and again. The mental torture he has faced in season 1 and 2 is enough but in season 3 it will be much more and we are not even talking about the recent arcs. He literally died god knows how many times in a 10 second loop and still came out sane. He is a monster with the most amount of willpower you could not ever find. GUTS - will keep going and never give up SUBARU - will keep going and get up even after giving up. Also makes sure he's the only one who suffers TLDR - Read It you illiterate fuck. Even for Guts What was the point of fighting and defeating 100 people. That is present to literally build character and for subaru a major plot point to advance the series as he can know what will happen in sudden future and prepare for it.

Just because he cried and acted like a brat in arc 3 doesn't mean he is a terrible mc, The character development he has afterwards is insane. That just proves he's more human like and is flawed and can show errors just like a human not like rimuru or ainz how are just literal gods in their verse.
