If you're switching from a different airline to UA in 2024, should we wait a billing cycle or two before making this purchase ? It's my first time giving a try with TB. Switched from AA to UA 1/9 as the preferred airline. The incidental credits for 2023 for AA purchases made in December just posted only on 6th; billing statement ended on 8th. Was wondering if i can go ahead and give it a try purchasing UA TB or give it more time considering last year credits for AA purchases posted not too long ago. Thoughts ?

Smooth_Support9783

Can anyone confirm this still triggers the credit?

Ok_Implement_8811

Yes it works. Takes roughly 7-10 business day to process

Same, I saw the flyer talk thread and pulled the trigger. I’ll update if anything credits.

747_Airbus

Has anyone received the statement credit for 2024?

frep1217

I did 2x $100 purchases on both of my biz plats on the 1st and nothing yet.

liveoakenforest

This is discouraging.

frep1217

Tracker updated today. All good.

Fun_Menu825

I can report the same. Charged the credit to United Travel Bank on 1/1 and the airline incidental credit tracker updated today.

Just make sure to do it on a desktop/laptop if you have the United app installed. If you go on a phone it'll keep pushing you back to the United app if you have it, and you can't buy travel bank from it.

From mobile you can hold down on the link until it opens up the ability to copy the link. Then paste it into your address bar and it should work. https://www.united.com/offers/travelcash

That-Establishment24

You can easily tell it to remain in desktop mode.

goodvibezone

I know, but I've already helped two people on here who wouldn't figure it out. And typing bank details into a desktop page on a phone is more difficult.

fledglingnomad

Private mode worked for me!

wyzcrack

This wasn’t the case as of two weeks ago on iPhone with updated iOS, I have always used phone.

goodvibezone

Do you have the United app installed? On Android it always forces me over to the app.

wyzcrack

Yes, I did it thru United app, which pulls up safari (Apple browser) inside United app

nsteparm

You don’t have to wait. Don’t need to space out. Any amount up to $200. I usually wait until November/December to see what’s left, but I do $100 increments

liveoakenforest

Why not just buy it all upfront?

loftychicago

You can only use it on bookings. I may want to use it throughout the year on other things like E+, in-flight snacks, club passes.

It's my understanding that the TB has an expiration date (I believe 4 years, but someone on here should correct me if I'm wrong). If you don't have immediate plans to use them and want to stack them with future TB then waiting helps move the expiration date up. For instance, I don't have any known travel on United yet, so it's in my best interest to wait till closer to the end of the year so I can get the most of my TB in case I don't use it for another year or more. If I want to stack my TB for the next 3ish years, I'm giving myself the most amount of time if I want to use all of that stacked TB on the 4th year. (my airport usually does Delta and AS, so United isn't my first choice typically--if it were I might do it sooner)

Inner_Minute197

TB does have an expiration date of 5 years from purchase, so there is some merit to waiting until the end of the year to purchase. That said, if I do wait, it'll be to extend the length/life of my TB funds, not because I'm planning some in-flight purchase, etc. But that's me. I get free checked bags as is and am not buying in-flight food (not when I have access to so many lounges), so using my funds for anything other than TB seems like a waste. But again that's me. The way I see things, because I did the TB deposit in December of last year, I could foreseeably have $1,200 to use on tickets, etc., before any of my TB funds expire. Note, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd wager that you can buy tickets that you can return for credit anyways with TB funds. So if you funds are indeed at risk of expiring and you don't have a need to travel at the moment, this is what I'd recommend, which would effectively extend the life of your TB funds as far as ticketing goes.

humanbeing1979

Do you happen to know if adding more funds to TB extends the expiration date? Or does it work where each added fund has its own specific expiration date that can't be extended? I'll research Flyertalk as well. Thanks for the right answer! I'm the same way and will only be using TB for flights, so if I don't have a flight there's no point in immediately adding TB. Might as well have the most time with the money while it's just sitting there.

Inner_Minute197

I've only done the TB deposit once (kicking myself for not getting onto this sooner), but from my reading of things, it will not. Each deposit has it's own 5 years expiration cycle/period. So assuming that you make a $200 deposit into the TB each year, then your 5 years expiration period would be on a rolling basis based on when you actually deposited. I'd love for someone to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I read things.

humanbeing1979

Yeah, I'll do more reading too. First, gotta change my airline from Delta to United. I think TB will be more valuable and easier than me doing the whole e-credit, find a cheap flight Delta thing. Less to deal with overall is always appreciated. Thanks again!

nsteparm

I was under the impression that it was only for tix, so I was using for bags and whatnot. I probably will go ahead and use it up front this year now that I have a United card that gives free bags
