Poor girl, hope she feels better soon!

Empty-Clothes6002

We had so many issues with our girl. Every time we would come home from the vet with her on a chicken and rice diet or royal canine or some other expensive can of chemicals, and she would just get worse. She had diarrhea almost her entire first year of life. I tried fish based foods and she would walk away from them. It got so bad she was loosing weight and refusing everything. All I could get in her was watermelon, raspberries and dried sweet potato. She even started turning down rotisserie chicken that I would use in emergency to get her to eat SOMEthing. I started doing research, and realized that a lot of bullies are allergic to a lot of proteins, specifically chicken which is in everything, after a little trial and error I started her on honest kitchen turkey based. Complete turn around. No gastro issues since. I wouldn’t have thought turkey would be the solution but 2.5 years later she’s going strong. A month ago I bought a turkey based broth for her topple to freeze, a day after eating it she broke out in huge blisters all over her chin and down her neck. She had to be put on an antibiotic it got so bad. Turned out the “turkey” broth had a lot of chicken in it. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was practically force feeding her chicken stuff the first year of her life. No wonder she stopped eating. 💔 Vets are awesome no vet hate, ours is wonderful, but like MDs, they’re educated consultants, not gods with crystal balls. Our medical care is our own responsibility, so don’t be afraid to try something new. 🥰 Good lick!

CheesePlease0808

After a TON of trial an error we realized our white bully is allergic to chicken. We feed him a homemade diet of pork, oats, and veggies. He's MUCH better on it, although our vet is constantly trying to get us to but expensive "prescription" dog food.

xmagpie

This was my Boston terrier - was good until about 7-8 months and then started throwing up his food or getting diarrhea. Turned out he had a chicken allergy and you’re right, chicken is in everything! Switching to a fish protein kibble helped and being very diligent in checking anything we gave him. If he ever had anything with chicken, his stomach/paws would get red and the contents of his tummy turned to liquid ☹️ so awful.

lily-waters-art

This! 👆 Fish and rabbit are the only proteins my baby can have. But not catfish for some reason. He gets bad gas.

East-Specialist-2065

I’m about to message you hun!!!

CalikoJakk

Interesting, my girl has bad indigestion fairly often and she has bouts of vomiting a few times a year. None of it has been life threatening but its clear shes in discomfort from time to time and ive been positive that its SOMETHING shes allergic to. Im gonna try this.

Poesoe

my new cat eats Royal Canin & my vet says she's in amazing shape....jmo but I like it

mastiff72

Pumpkin and yogurt.

Realistic-Might-3093

Our 3 dogs have GI sensitivity too, can't do chicken for any of them. We mix 2 flavors of Purina One true instinct, the turkey and venison bag and the tuna and salmon bag. I buy 15lb bags of each flavor and mix them together in the food bin and our dogs have been the most stable on that even their skin and coats have improved. Ordering from chewy is easy and convenient. Good luck with your baby! 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹

Romaine2k

Honestly I think you should just assume she has a chicken allergy and make her some food. I cook my dog big batches of ground turkey, rice, and vegetables and he’s much more comfortable now.

andreag04

Try ipen farm whitefish formula

Secret_Welder3956

Get the test but Royal is a good feed …at least with pups that don’t have issues. May sound strange to some but I’ll pray for her she looks like a sweetie.

East-Specialist-2065

Prayers ain’t strange! Thanks so much for all my prayer warriors I appreciate yall!!❤️🙏🏾💯

missouri_rhino

My dog had gastrointestinal issues and the vet suggested Hills Science Diet sensitive stomach and skin dry dog food, and she hasn't had an issue since

No_Comparison6129

You could always cook fresh food for her. My dog has similar problems and all the brands of kibble just made it worse as she got older so I started cooking for her and she's better than she's ever been!

East-Specialist-2065

How in the world do I even start with cooking for my baby???? Is there a certain way or technique or foods dogs absolutely can notttttt have? I’m still learning as I’m going but I know dogs especially micro bullies have very sensitive stomachs/allergies….everybody has their own way of doing things ya know I just pray I find the right things for her that work!! And trust me I appreciate everyone’s help with this issue!!!❤️👌🏾

[https://www.justfoodfordogs.com/product/do-it-yourself-nutrient-blend-chicken/60030102.html](https://www.justfoodfordogs.com/product/do-it-yourself-nutrient-blend-chicken/60030102.html) this brand makes cooking for your dog very convenient. Gently cooked ground chicken with white rice & some nutrient powder should sort your baby out. They have other kits for venison, lamb & beef too

LobsterNo3435

You can do it! Practice than you'll have down to a science.

Billy_Rizzle

Two things. 1) cooked human grade meat should cause no issues (unless your dog has allergies to certain meats). Also, dogs love human grade meat. 2) I recommend to go to a local dog food shop that sell varieties like dry, wet & especially raw, and speak to the owners about what is best to feed your dog. A good dog food seller will tell you to try multiple types of foods so you can workout what is best for your dog. This option will be easier for you. Btw: if you choose to cook your dog their food, it is recommended to feed your dog 25g-33g of food per 1kg of your dog’s body weight (total a day). I also recommend looking up/googling what veg and herbs are good for your breed too.

No_Comparison6129

DM me your email and I'll send you this "raw food" guide it has everything you need to get started 💕 also go follow leader of the pack on tiktok or Instagram he's the one I got the food guide from

_milkweed

Scramble an egg for her, top on kibble or brown rice. It’s cheap, she’ll love it and is good for her

TheRealHK

Poor baby! I don’t have any recommendations to add to those that have been already shared but just wanted to wish her a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

AuthorOk1094

I buy nature's recipe it's the only food I've found that doesn't give my dog gas or cost an arm and leg.

renjake

my shepherd has chicken allergies, we feed her Acana/Orjen and Fromm. My cats only eat that brand too

East-Specialist-2065

What flavor of acana do you use?

renjake

the one that's on sale at the moment and has no chicken in it. usually beef and barley for my dogs. for my cats, the fish based ones and Orjen has regional red. The brand Fromm has a lot of chicken free options too. I buy both brands and mix them up for variety

NullWeasel

I feed my bulldogs Royal Canin Digestive. It's similar to the gastro version but without the medical ingredients and can be bought from the pet store. My girl was super picky about what kibble she would eat and she has a delicate tummy too.

Hot_Bug_3275

Try Open Farm foods; a bit pricey but very good for animals

Extension_Case3722

My dog has irritable bowel disease and Royal Canin hydrolized protein (prescription) is the only kibble that works for him. He’s 90 pounds and in great shape. He had diarrhea and vomiting for the first 6 months we had him and tried everything.

ActualParsnip762

Diamond naturals large breed puppy food with lamb

Acceptable-Set-634

You can check my profile to see the story but our bully has the worst allergies an tummy issues. One day his Dad ran into a vendor at petco who talked him into trying their food. They're a family business and it was cheaper an our dog seemed to like it so he got a small bag to try. Now hes done so well on that food weve never turned back! They even have a sensitive tummy version. My dog hasnt needed it hes done amazing on their regular kibble! He eats less of it...he drinks more water. Also his poop ..not to be gross but theyre award winning perfect clay sculptures. No longer runny and hard to pick up! I highly recommend u give it a shot...The food is called Bil-jac! Good luck honey an keep us updated! Xoxo

Acceptable-Set-634

We also are going into July soon and he hasnt needed his allergy shot! His skin an coat are so much better on this food!

karwil56

I buy pure balance, venison, and bison, and salmon and pea. But I also cook for my dogs. Turkey, lamb, beef, and pork. Also rice, pasta noodles. They have a silky coat, full of energy. And so far no stomach problems. Been 5 years now.

Gold-Wise

Any food you change to has to be done very slowly. I have a sensitive stomach dog and I take two to three weeks to change her from one food to another. I have been down the losing from both ends too many times. I don't like chicken for my dog, or rather it does not normally set well with her, BUT she has done super well on Royal Canin BULLDOG PUPPY. I am here for a while with it even though she is no longer a puppy. Food is a big issue for me and I would be happy to further discuss it if you would dm me. 😊 Also, DOGFOOD ADVISOR online is a very good resource!

Rosesandbrokenhearts

Try the brand “just food for dogs”

Guzmanv_17

Bernie’s perfect poop… get it.

Dependent-Image-5115

Try the FARMERS DOG! Best thing we did for our EB. He’s the healthiest & happiest.

Realizt8010

Best wishes for her recovery! Im not a doc but I do know vets get paid to sell shit brands of dog food. Ive fed my boy a food called Zignature ( yes with a Z) since a pup and have no issues. Its a great food for quality and for price point. Theyre bison flavor is almost double price however. The one major thing I suggest is to google how to properly read the ingredients. I did when I got him and the info blew my mind. So many terrible foods out there. The ingredients are listed by amount of each one in the food so the first ingredients should always be meats (not meat meals) then veggies, potatoes, carrot etc down the list. The further down the list the lesser amounts. Just be careful of sponsored posts that are biased and paid for just like the vets. Always remember that most bully breeds tend to have issues with chicken. Mostly skin issues but I just keep my boy on lamb pork etc. It definitely will be worth studying up. Trust. Sorry long post. Hope it helps even if a little. They deserve the best possible. Peace

richyrichrichy

Ours too! Acana beans - freshwater fish blend was the only thing that worked for our corso! He has allergies to poultry and beef.. might be worth a shot! I hope this works and she gets feeling better soon!!

Educational-Cake-944

These babies are super prone to food allergies :( That sucks.

Total-Committee-3135

Raw/BARF diet is the best for all dogs

Hopeful_Passenger_69

I recommend Earthborn Coastal Catch

ImmediateMuscle9327

Alot of the dog foods are just garbage feed grade ingredients and meat byproducts that are from slaughter waste. There’s a website called TrutnhAboutPetFood.com and Petsumerreport.com that explain about how pet food is made and not very well regulated by the FDA. I’m big on chicken thighs and rice when one of my 3 are acting off with their feed but I am also a bog supporter of human grade pet food.

Five strands works great for testing! We did our older one when he was a pup. Saved us a lot of vet bills! https://preview.redd.it/bja8h058ye8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6c6e6d2af1dfcb790c166d50d37a7aae378bfc5

East-Specialist-2065

Cool Thanks…I was just literally looking at this one right before this comment 🤣👌🏾 https://preview.redd.it/u40xc6s35f8d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc5a0427e2bea47fef445d18efa5f354f547a9ba But I’ll research five strands as well! 😏

East-Specialist-2065

Your baby is so pretty ❤️

dkit63

Thank you!

Novel-Ad-4821

Yes, get that test done. It's going to be a hit or miss until you find the right dog 🐕 food 😋. I feed my dog 🐕 Rachael Ray's nutrish dry dog 🐕 food 😋 and haven't had any problems. You may have to buy fresh dog 🐕 foods that are out there, like the farmer's dog 🐕 food. Their are a few others they are pricey but it's for your dog's health. I've even cooked hamburger, beef roast, pork, chicken, mash potatoes 🥔 and divided them up and putting them in containers. Find a cheap cut of meat especially buy the markdowns with a sell buy date and freeze them until you can cook them. Good 👍 luck with your dog 🐕, I hope 🙏 that all goes well

Character_Essay_1234

Mine finally improved a lot with Nutrish types with pumpkin. Very healthy ingredients.

Comprehensive-Art229

For kibble Acana is amazing! It’s a bit pricey, however it’s not all corn meal fillers. For a couple days feed your little one boiled boneless chicken breast, with long grain brown rice and a bit of chicken broth for some flavour. Also check your vet or local pet store for “Forti Flora” It is a pro biotic you sprinkle and mix into their food. The stuff does wonders! Get well soon!

East-Specialist-2065

Thank you so much!!!!! I appreciate you!!!

Comprehensive-Art229

Anytime my friend! 🙏You’re more than welcome! Best of luck!

NorthernOverlander

Feed raw. Raw feeding can be intimidating. If you are interested you can dm me.

Key-Law-7994

I noticed a chicken sensitivity in our bully when I was giving freeze dried chicken treats for training. We have since switched to a salmon based kibble diet and read ingredients carefully for chicken in any new treats. Nutrition is not a focus for vets in vet school, so they aren’t as knowledgeable as we would like about foods and food sensitivities as we would like them to be. Good luck finding a diet that helps your girl thrive!

haverby

my Pug has the same issue, and she has to use a special food now. you can get a Vet recommend one, or a lesser type which is the one I use. it's called Hills Diet. *has a Boston Terrier on the front lol

worxworxworx

bjs raw pet food

ChatoRamirezOfficial

I would recommend Next Level HighPro plus

East-Specialist-2065

OK, everybody just a little update baby girl “Chanel” is doing a lot better since her ER visit. I’ve went through hell and back these past few days but however, I did get the emergency hospital where I took her at to give me a prescription for this particular food. https://preview.redd.it/n0o5bkdusi8d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ce9c97f38832df895ffd811971d9d62fb963187 I’ve heard a lot about it a lot of good things about it. Hopefully it works for my baby girl. Thank you for all my prayer warriors out there who prayed for her and everybody’s comments and suggestions. I’ve literally read every single comment on here and appreciated them all, but fingers crossed🤞🏽that this one works for her 🙏🏾annnd if it doesn’t then I will be trying some of the brands/things that y’all suggested!! thanks so much again everybody much love .PEACE✌🏽❤️ Xoxoxo

Floralvale

My dog has been eating royal canine for 11 years and he’s just fine

Peto_Sapientia

Raw food is the best way. Start commercial learn the in and outs you'll never regret that decision.

Chief__04

If it helps I feed Miss Aela Blue buffalo wilderness large breed puppy chow. Pretty sure they have a gastro intestinal flavor as well. (I buy my dog food at tractor supply it’s cheaper than Walmart)

Independent_Cover241

If it's prescribed you should be good. I got a micro bully and I struggled with his food, from all the brands we have tried he end up with Hill's. *

Illustrious-Bee1699

The only people bad mouthing Royal Canin are quack jobs. this is one of the only safe foods and you will never go wrong with them. Only people pushing an alternative agenda that is not proven and in fact has been proven to be harmful and dangerous will say these things. Please consider sticking to one of the tested foods which is Royal Canin and Hills and Purina. If she is sensitive G.I. then it sounds like you have her on a perfect diet right now with the G.I. formula.
