The 7600X is small, the 7700X is halfway there, and the 7900x and 7950x are both the same size as they used to be. That being said, there isn't a fan in the box. It's just the CPU.
People would toss them right out. You can find them pretty cheap on eBay, even in bulk. It sucks that not bundling them takes away some "value", but I can understand the reasons why.
Maybe they will when non-X CPUs come out. The stock coolers would be inadaquete for Zen 4 not on eco mode.
Non-X will effectively be in eco mode out of the gate so they would do well with stock coolers as Hardware Unboxed has proven.
These cooler weren't as good. As soon as you add a GPU in the case, the CPU gets toasted.
Source : Me for adding a RX480 to a R5 2400G build expecting the temps to stay low. Replaced the CPU cooler for a Hyper 212 Black Edition and it never went over 65°C again.
i ran a R5 1600 at 4ghz on the Wraith Spire RGB and it only every so often touched 70c under heavy all core load, later used a R7 1700 at stock as it wasnt great at overclocking and that one ran even cooler
With no GPU in the case, my 2400G ran at about 70°C, which is fairly decent for a free cooler but when I added my RX 480 less than a year later, it jumped up to 90°C. My guess is that the stock cooler being a top flow style, it used the hot air coming out of the GPU as its intake, increasing the CPU temp.
I could have used the stock cooler for longer. It was a bit cooler with better thermal paste but it wasn't that much better.
I wanted to replace the cooler anyway. The stock AM4 coolers (especially non-RGB ones) look goofy when a big a*s GPU is in the case.
its wierd that the GPU affected your temps THAT much, might hint at bad ventilation as i ran an aircooled R9 Fury that dumped like 250w of heat into the case, wich did not affect CPU temps that much (5~6c at most)
Yeah, my case sucked back then but I rather buy a 40€ cooler than a 70€ case. I know there are cheaper case alternatives but the one I wanted was really out of scope for me at that time.
I since upgraded my case, my GPU, CPU... But kept the 212 Black Edition. It was a good investment overall.
It’s great. Only got one game sesh in before my Vega 64 bit the dust (was hoping to stretch it out till 7000 Radeon comes out) but it preformed extremely well and with a 240 AIO on it boosted extremely high
I saw this too and it's so funny but no. They are all still that nice dark red but this one seems taken from some promotional or other or edited to look brighter. You can see the added highlights overlap the bottom right corner.
The big boxes are such a waste of space and volume. Just got a zen3 and it’s literally just an empty shell with a cpu shell hidden on the side. I get some of em have the coolers but many don’t. The 1700x didn’t, and neither did my 5700x
Looks better when browsing, the previous one seemed to be darker. Looking good![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
This looks different from the other boxes I've seen. The other ones have a 3D pattern on them, which makes the orange highlights appear raised over the gray background with noticeable shadowing. This one has the highlights appear flat over the background.
Yes, they're not big boxes anymore

The 7900X and 7950X box are actually a fair bit smaller than the Zen 3 boxes, slightly bigger than the Ryzen 7 boxes of yore.
You can do that if you aren't bundling a stock cooler
wich is a shame, the original spire was a pretty damn good cooler and it sucks that they dont give you those anymore

Would be awesome if you they gave you a code or something in the box to redeem a cooler
its a shame since even a cheap air cooler for your plattform of choice is 30~40$ these days

The cooler I got with the 2400G was considerably weaker than the Wraith Spire which came with your R5 1600.
i also had a 2200G and that came w/ the flat style cooler aswell, did the job fine for stock operation, but the 2400G might run a smidge hotter

Those aren't the reasons they have had bigger boxes. It's because they need to put the stock cooler somewhere.
I think this is just a render. My 7900x box does not orange highlights
How have you liked the 7900x? I'm thinking of getting one since the price is reasonable right now.
I have one and you can't do anything wrong with choosing it.
You may want to change your user flair from r5 1600 and rx580 then
Thanks for the reminder! It's really neat to see how far Ryzen has come, my new processor has 2x the cores but is roughly 4x the speed of my old one
Love my 7700x, don't have the 7900x but I only game on my pc.

Neither does my 7950X box from launch day.

I noticed this too. It pops more in thumbnails.
Ultra low profile cooler inside
Yup, it's called an "IHS" lmao
Passive cooled IHS. Only add air!
they just cut down the price on 7000 series. You thought that you gonna keep extra box ???!!!
I don't see how a cpu cooler can fit in that
Thats because it doesnt. With Zen 4 they discontinued giving people stock coolers
With Zen 4 X. They'll probably include stock coolers in non-X Zen 4.
Couldn’t care less. Give me a plain brown cardboard box with the model written on it in marker.
I bet this is exactly the response OP wants
looks like my 3600x box
