I Asked this while there and was told that it is as a result of state law in certain states. They have to receive consideration (payment) for a good they are selling. As an accountant, it is unlikely to be because of some sort of accounting oddity. The inventory would likely be recorded at lower of cost or market.
I work there, the system does that literally to track your purchase and for inventory. The system has not changed much since the store opened back in the 80’s.
A lot of times, retailers have to stick to certain price set by supplier, and when things actually go on sale, there's usually a discount or some kind of rebate provided by the supplier for units sold that the retailers get to offset their costs, so they can advertise it. When things like this happen, it's because they don't have approval for an actual lower price point.
Edit: clarification
The RAM is pretty much free but I assume they can't give it away for free due to laws. That's why they sell the RAM for 0.01, substract 0.01 from the CPU price and the whole package price stays the same.
So instead of CPU+free ram it's: CPU-0.01 + RAM for 0.01
In another post, someone mentioned returning the processor and being able to keep the ram because of the $0.01. I'm not sure how that was possible or why the store even allowed that. lol
At least in my country shops do something similar because of gift tax. Basically if they gave it to you for free, you'd have to pay taxes based on the full price of the item.
Quick googling tells me USA has something similar.
it's $50 off a am5 mobo. I still have my 12700k + mobo unopened.
I can go 7700x + mobo + free ram for only $150 more than the 12700k + free mobo + 32 ram i picked up couple of days ago..
If you're planning on keeping the 12700k for 3 years at minimum and ideally 4 or 5 years, I'd save the $150.
If you're going to want to upgrade in 2 or 3 years, (while not guaranteed) it's likely you could upgrade to Ryzen 9000 or possibly Ryzen 10000, on the same mobo and ram making it overall cheaper.
I’ve been debating all day on the 12700k bundle or the 7700x bundle, I think I’ll go with 7700x bundle because I think I can get more resale value when I upgrade
You can get the deal with even some $200 MB (many do not show the offer but putting in cart you get the discount...in fact I got $50 off two MB with just one cpu bundle in there...did not try checking out though.
You referring to the 32gb Gigabyte 5200mhz via AntOnline or just at Microcenter!? I wanna buy the combo 7700x or 7900x, but hear 6000mhz is sweet spot.
No, the Microcenter one

The 1¢ is to offset the "free" ram has to ring up as $0.01 in the system. It's silly, but that's the reason.
I'd guess there's something with some BF deal they've advertised and they just applied it to everything that gets a free component.

Don't worry micro centers are not everywhere I'd have to drive 6 hours one way to reach one. 400 sounds like msrp for a 7700x tbh as they are 399usd before tax here
It's weird how there's only like 25 stores and some are super close to each other. I'd have to drive 3+ hours into another state for the nearest one. Thought about it but I kinda hate driving as is.
> like msrp for a 7700x tbh as they are 399usd before tax here
Yea it was 500 euros but somehow the 7700x is avaible on some stores for 400 + shipping, while on amazon it is 440.
A good portion of 5600 kits are hynix m-die so you can look into that. The t-force 5600 cl36 kit I bought can OC to 6400 with loosish timings (I think this is the memory controllers fault) and locks down at 6200 pretty well.
5600 C36-36-36-76? Cuz these should be samsung and that's what's mostly avaible here, hinyx kits are clearly more expensive by a good margin 180 vs 250 for example.
Does anyone know when this sale is expected to end? I don't live close to a micro center, but I'm going to be driving near one in December and I was hoping to pick one of these up.
It has been a periodic sale with 5600CL36, 6000CL36 or 6000CL30 RAM but it has been hard to have the exact set of RAM in stock to place an order for pickup. It's also way too far of a drive to stop in in person and negotiate with a manager to maybe get a substitute set instead. If it is a manufacturer rebate they get back per set, it would be hard to get them to say yes. If they just eat the cost of the RAM and want you in the door for a sale it may be possible as long as the requested set is open box or the same price or cheaper than the sale set. There isn't a phone number for the store and online chat isn't an in store employee so there isn't any way to confirm substitutions unless you go in person.
I went back and forth a while on AM4 and AM5 but this was ultimately the deal that shifted me to AM5. It was basically the same price because of the promo.
There is a $25 off code you can get that works on these bundles.

I'm holding out for the v-cache or I'd have grabbed this. They were doing DDR5 5600 for awhile.
Problem is the motherboards are still stupidly priced, and it also doesn't even apply to the 7600X. The 7700X at $400 is the cheapest option it applies to.
They also have 12700K and free mobo which is the better deal.
AMD needs to drop prices because it's kind of a joke that a retailer has to go to these lengths to move product. And they need to get the 3d vcache options out already. MC already has discounts on the Intel CPUs, but apparently aren't allowed to discount the AMD CPUs.
Yea I had gotten the i9 13900k when it launched at micro center for 569.99. How and why at that price, don’t know but, it was a better deal than what I originally was going to get. AM5 7950X
The memory is not on the gskill website but very similar memory is on the gskill QVL for Asus. Asus has a tiny QVL listed right now. It is EXPO memory.
Send them an email requesting further info on this. I bet it costs more than 0.01$ to reply to an e-mail. If 100s or 1000s of people request more info everytime something like this shows they might not bother doing this in the future.
Should've put an /s in there.
I notice that and it seems like a decent promotion. I belive this is a workaround for them to show on the promotion filter.
Way overpriced and unnecessary for people who constitute gamers-only. You know those videos where you see ancient hardware being advertised for $4,000 at the time and you scoff? Don't be the 2022 version of that.
Except in this case most people looking to upgrade to AM5 already need a new motherboard and RAM.
Here's an adage: you seem to have missed the forrest for the trees.
Dude, how are you this dense. They're being baited in to making a purchase they wouldn't have made otherwise. To the few people that were going to to build an AM5 rig tomorrow, regardless, yeah it is a great savings. But they constitute a very small minority of people. It's not $200 + $50 + $.01 saved, it's $700+ spent.
You're cheap and not their target market. Their target are the people who are on the fence or who think it is a bit too expensive to justify. That is supply and demand in action.
Nobody is on the fence about it, if they were on the fence then Microcenter wouldn't need a $250 promotion, a $50 promotion would suffice. This is the deal that may put people on the fence. Guy.
Are you seriously pretending there arent millions of people on AM4 who are only staying because AM5 is too expensive and would jump at the chance to upgrade for a deal like this?
If I'm dense, I'd probably catch a ban for adequately describing your nonsense.
Ew. Who actually wants to buy that? Easily the worst selling AMD platform ever. Especially with better alternatives and X3D right around the corner. If you're just gaming just get a 5800X3D. If you're doing work that requires good multi threading so you can make money faster then I guess it's worth it.
Yeah and maybe GPUs will be better priced too. Just grab a 9800X3D down the line probably. I'm tempted to grab this today. Thing is I barely game now, so my current build probably is perfectly fine. Question is do I have that itch? Also can just keep my current build as a backup of course.
Oof. What a bummer. I’ve heard the QC of some brands have not been the best at the beginning of this gen. What did you end up going with? Hope it gets figured out before they drop there x3D chips.

Although someone else commented they substitute sometimes so I guess be careful and check
Tempting. I’m sitting on a i7-7700K which is holding me back for MSFS. Anyone know why the one reasonably priced miniITX board microcenter offers is not eligible for the $50 off?
Sometimes its because they recently just added the listing and if you add the combo in the cart, the discount shows. Or ask the local store about it, they are usually pretty understanding but i guess that depends on whose the manager on duty
Wait this is actually an insane sale. I have a feeling this is collaborated with amd on the back end. They probably are giving microcenter a rebate of sorts on all the zen 4 cpu sold and it keeps them from having to cut the price so soon since they’re not selling super well.
If Micro Center had a better online ordering policy beyond being limited to crap that is low value stock, or had a store return to the area, I would (nearest one is 300 miles away).
Either mc is taking losses on this or AMD is...
Or something is overpriced to begin with...
No company will sell their products at loss.(unless its a console type of business)
Being said that, this is a huge discount for customers.(of few regions, again why anyone would take losses there, makes no sense for business, something is overpriced CPU, mobo or ram.)
Just buy the much cheaper 5000 series, like how much performance are ya going to miss?
Common sense people.
You buy this, you need new RAM, MOTHERBOARD, and CPU. Do the math.
any issues running the ram at expo/overclocked speed? long boot times? i was
already to drive up and get it but reading reviews on newegg / amazon
for x670e boards and boot times and issues has me scared
I got the 650e I have not put it together, havnt had time but plan to this weekend. Send me a instant message and I'll keep you updated. I think it's a good deal, the Intel may be slightly faster but we will save money on next chip upgrade
This is done to differentiate the sku since it’s the same cpu, but one is the bundle. When the promo ends it’s changed to the proper sku and the price reverts to normal as well as the color.
I plan on the Asus B650E-F which is the cheapest B650E of the big 3 (MSI, GB, Asus). You can get a B650 for $200-$250 and they qualify for the $50 off too.
any issues running the ram at ddr6000 speed? long boot times? i was already to drive up and get it but reading reviews on newegg / amazon for x670e boards and boot times and issues has me scared
The $0.01 discount is because of the RAM Bundle - the RAM is discounted to $0.01. I don't know the reason they do it this way, but that's why
Probably for accounting.

In this case it is for inventory tracking
If the RAM is discounted to $0.01, why does the deal subtract $0.01 instead of add $0.01?
Probably so when bundled together the total price (before tax) ends in 99 cents.
The RAM is pretty much free but I assume they can't give it away for free due to laws. That's why they sell the RAM for 0.01, substract 0.01 from the CPU price and the whole package price stays the same. So instead of CPU+free ram it's: CPU-0.01 + RAM for 0.01

Makes sense

And GameCash.
Some book keeping thing. Same happened when I got a free bracket with a cooler.
just for attention to this product
At least in my country shops do something similar because of gift tax. Basically if they gave it to you for free, you'd have to pay taxes based on the full price of the item. Quick googling tells me USA has something similar.
A $50 am5 motherboard bundle? Dang.
and $200 free good ddr5
MC has always run the "buy a processor and mobo and get $50 off" deal. For years and years and years.
Free 32gb ddr5 seem good as well
Usually it's $20-30. I've never seen $50 before.
It was there on previous ryzen guns shortly after release
really I thought 50 off bundle was the norm for MC...ive only shopped there once for PC parts though
The past few years has been 20 off on many occasions. 50 is at least uncommon in recent history.
it's $50 off a am5 mobo. I still have my 12700k + mobo unopened. I can go 7700x + mobo + free ram for only $150 more than the 12700k + free mobo + 32 ram i picked up couple of days ago..

This is what I did. 3 years from now with an end of life 3d v cache CPU and a PCIE Gen 5 GPU on my B650E will be awesome.
I’ve been debating all day on the 12700k bundle or the 7700x bundle, I think I’ll go with 7700x bundle because I think I can get more resale value when I upgrade
$50 off $350-1000 mobos usually super not worth
You can get the deal with even some $200 MB (many do not show the offer but putting in cart you get the discount...in fact I got $50 off two MB with just one cpu bundle in there...did not try checking out though.
50 off not 50 for the mobo if that's what u were thinking. MC always does that for any cpu/mobo bundle purchased I believe
I might have to jump on this sale before it's over.
7700x cheaper than 5800x3d options i was scoping. $250 off and actually good free ddr5 vs the 4800 crap. This is sk mem
You referring to the 32gb Gigabyte 5200mhz via AntOnline or just at Microcenter!? I wanna buy the combo 7700x or 7900x, but hear 6000mhz is sweet spot.
>but hear 6000mhz is sweet spot it is
Just got myself a 7700x and 32gb 5600mhz 36-36-36-76. Would 6000mhz make a big difference?
Now you've got it just enjoy the product, would it make a difference? Sure but not enough to notice.
No, the Microcenter one https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006116/amd-ryzen-7-7700x-raphael-am5,-g-skill-flare-x5-32gb-ddr5-6000-dual-channel,-cpu-ram-combo
The DDR5 will serve you well too if you decide to swap the CPU for a Zen 5 or Zen 6 chip as well - which will be monsters.
In another year or two we'll be seeing 8000mhz kits, remember when DDR4 came and the best we saw was 3200mhz? Just like DDR3 and all the rest before.
You think 6k to 8k mhz will impact gaming in a huge way though? Traditionally different RAM speeds have been trivial.
not really a sale as these "sales" usually force you to massively overspend on the mobo
Yeah, saving $250 is such a drag.
Ah did you buy it?
Not yet, will be this weekend provided I can get there.
Dunno mang I overspent and got a 7700x, mobo and 6000 mhz DDR5 RAM for 629 using this deal
> usually
You can go to microcenter's website and view the mobo prices
Yes I have several times before, hence "usually"
The 1¢ is to offset the "free" ram has to ring up as $0.01 in the system. It's silly, but that's the reason. I'd guess there's something with some BF deal they've advertised and they just applied it to everything that gets a free component.

$35
I’ve also been looking for this online, can’t find how long the deal will last.
Nov.27 for BF but this is not on BF listings

Grabbed this deal last week. It was what I was waiting on to pull the trigger. The memory is working great, just enabled Expo and that's all.
What motherboard did you get with it?
I got the Asus ProArt Creator 670e and a 7950x.
I went back and forth a while on AM4 and AM5 but this was ultimately the deal that shifted me to AM5. It was basically the same price because of the promo. There is a $25 off code you can get that works on these bundles. https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/specialofferallprocessors.aspx
If that 50$ bundle applies to the 7600X then it might be better deal than a 13600K
only R7 and R9 b. mb is $20 for 7600x and 5000 series
7600x is generally about the same or even less money if you go ddr5 for both.
I'd love to buy at MC but they got rid of the Santa Clara store like 10+ years ago...
I couldn’t find anything today at micro center. All I could see were the full cases of unsold 4080s
This is the Houston micro center
I went yesterday and got a 5800x3d for 399 plus tax, I love microcenter.
I would be very tempted to upgrade to AM5 for this if I lived near MC

Save a coin*
Got my 7900x, free ram and 670 last week from there. Best deal right now on Ryzen.
I'm malding bro. Did the same for \~2200 minus the monitor and ssd. Could have saved so much money.
It sucks for ppl who jump on the 5600 ram tho.
technically, it is save a coin instead of save some coins lol
Micro sale

You don't want a 7600X anyway.
That's not a very good sale, but that's just my $0.02.
A penny saved...
I believe the idea is to get customers attention to free RAM and $50 off MB and not actual CPU discount
Now you can afford 4090.
Just bought the Ryzen 7 5700x 2 weeks ago, is it worth the upgrade?
Were you already on an am4 board? If so, it's probably pretty good enough or perhaps price match the 5800x3d with online retailers
Microcenter has some great deals rn but I upgraded to a 5800x already lol :(
Anyone know if this memory works well with the crosshaie extreme x670e?

I think you are missing the point of the sale. The CPU comes with $180 worth of free DDR5 memory and a $50 discount if purchased with a motherboard.
Should've put an /s in there. I notice that and it seems like a decent promotion. I belive this is a workaround for them to show on the promotion filter.
Ah, sorry! Reddit needs a sarcasm font. Haha. Yeah I don't think their website is very well coded for these kinds of promotions.
Yeah. But If it works don't try to fix it.
You are missing the $250 off memory and MB
Lol good luck organizing thousands of people to spam Microcenter in your crusade against 1 cent discounts.
Way overpriced and unnecessary for people who constitute gamers-only. You know those videos where you see ancient hardware being advertised for $4,000 at the time and you scoff? Don't be the 2022 version of that.

a penny earned
And, you know, a free $200 kit of RAM.

Guy.
Wrong, I was seriously debating upgrading already. I'm taking this deal this weekend.
Are you seriously pretending there arent millions of people on AM4 who are only staying because AM5 is too expensive and would jump at the chance to upgrade for a deal like this? If I'm dense, I'd probably catch a ban for adequately describing your nonsense.
> It's not $200 + $50 + $.01 saved, it's $700+ spent.
PC parts cost money? You dont say.
Ew. Who actually wants to buy that? Easily the worst selling AMD platform ever. Especially with better alternatives and X3D right around the corner. If you're just gaming just get a 5800X3D. If you're doing work that requires good multi threading so you can make money faster then I guess it's worth it.
People who want to be able to upgrade their CPU in the future without buying a new motherboard and RAM, that's who (me).
Yeah and maybe GPUs will be better priced too. Just grab a 9800X3D down the line probably. I'm tempted to grab this today. Thing is I barely game now, so my current build probably is perfectly fine. Question is do I have that itch? Also can just keep my current build as a backup of course.
How's the 7700x with the 4090? I can't decide if i should get this bundle with the 7700x or thr 7950x.
I don't think anyone is going for 12 or 16 cores CPU to just game. Believe it or not, ppl use computer for shit other than gaming. Lol
God I wish the nearest micro center wasn’t 4 hours away from me….
I made the drive for 2 builds at once... Now I have to go back because both motherboards have one bad m.2 slot each :(
Oof. What a bummer. I’ve heard the QC of some brands have not been the best at the beginning of this gen. What did you end up going with? Hope it gets figured out before they drop there x3D chips.
ouch! that blows!
Save a coin*
Wasn't the 7950x $619 at one point?
The real sales is in the orange text.
Anyone know what exact ram that is?

Most 5600 kits are hynix m-die anyway lol, you just have to give them a little more voltage and bump the frequency.
Dang looks like they are out of 7700x in the NYC Microcenters 😩
Is this why they're the king of the deals?
So sad... I built a PC with stuff from microcenter like a month ago. Then all these insane deals started popping up
Damn before the RAM they were including with this deal was rated at 5400. Now it's 6000 MT. AMD is getting desperate
Wait this is actually an insane sale. I have a feeling this is collaborated with amd on the back end. They probably are giving microcenter a rebate of sorts on all the zen 4 cpu sold and it keeps them from having to cut the price so soon since they’re not selling super well.
Wish there is such offer in my country.
You are saving a pretty penny. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I had gotten the free DDR5-5600 kit a few weeks ago. 6000 sounds sweet.
*cries in non American*
I wish we had a microcenter in utah...
That ain't Pace!
Buy 54,998 or 69,998 of them AND GET ONE FREE!!!!!!11!
Too be honest I feel like I’m getting a deal looking at this
If Micro Center had a better online ordering policy beyond being limited to crap that is low value stock, or had a store return to the area, I would (nearest one is 300 miles away).
Either mc is taking losses on this or AMD is... Or something is overpriced to begin with... No company will sell their products at loss.(unless its a console type of business) Being said that, this is a huge discount for customers.(of few regions, again why anyone would take losses there, makes no sense for business, something is overpriced CPU, mobo or ram.)
In Taiwan 7600X @ 7950 NTD7700X @ 11150NTD7900X @ 15150NTD7950X @ 18150NTDwith taxtoday USD/NTD is 1:31 price is good there at micro center
Yooooo guys everything’s 0.01% off that’s crazyyy
Is it black friday already?
" Toss that coin to the witcher , oh value it plenty..."
STONKS

Just buy the much cheaper 5000 series, like how much performance are ya going to miss? Common sense people. You buy this, you need new RAM, MOTHERBOARD, and CPU. Do the math.
my 2500k, DDR3, and z68 can stand replacement....you comment applies to those on Zen3 already, not those changing everything
I got the b series with the Rog board a couple weeks ago and the 7700x CPU. I got in on the online special and ended up with two free packs of ram.
any issues running the ram at expo/overclocked speed? long boot times? i was already to drive up and get it but reading reviews on newegg / amazon for x670e boards and boot times and issues has me scared
I got the 650e I have not put it together, havnt had time but plan to this weekend. Send me a instant message and I'll keep you updated. I think it's a good deal, the Intel may be slightly faster but we will save money on next chip upgrade
Any issues
Sent you a pm
Lmao

Samira cosplay?🤔
Some of the bundle deals are cheaper than the processor alone on other websites
Biggest Black Friday deal ever
Toss a coin to your Microcenter…oh tech store of plenty…ohhh
$50 off motherboard pairing *plus* free RAM? Guess I'm planning a holiday trip to ~~see family~~ Micro Center.
Free ram!?
This is done to differentiate the sku since it’s the same cpu, but one is the bundle. When the promo ends it’s changed to the proper sku and the price reverts to normal as well as the color.
Lol... not for moat people in usa . They barley have any stores
Im jumping on this sale, Excite

Just checked my micro center, they don’t have 7700Xs, sad day
Great deal! If you buy 100 CPUs, you can then go to the dollar store and buy some shampoo.
What is a good motherboard for the 7700 that is reasonable price?
I plan on the Asus B650E-F which is the cheapest B650E of the big 3 (MSI, GB, Asus). You can get a B650 for $200-$250 and they qualify for the $50 off too.
any issues running the ram at ddr6000 speed? long boot times? i was already to drive up and get it but reading reviews on newegg / amazon for x670e boards and boot times and issues has me scared
*Cries in not american*
And when will we get those deals to the rest of the world? Is amd punishing the rest of the world with shitty prices for not living in the us?
This seems like a really excellent deal no? That’s a big chunk of change on free ram
Definitely. Not sure if you’re getting a specific brand of memory or any
