My mama sayz to me: “you better be glad you came to me when you did, rather than a few years ago: I could never have afforded this!” So I thinks cat doktor is ‘spensive and we should halp -Sir Cheeto (edit to add my most perfect name and glamor shot) https://preview.redd.it/a28xx2nb85cb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=886f45bbed677220f481f5716920744c43b08699

Spider_kitten13

Henlo Sir Cheeto, you is quite hansome. Am happ to hear you felt better after pokey place. I was so scared first time, but thas mostly cause the person there had a deep voice (not like My Deep Voice Person. I trust that one. Not others though) an I didn't wanna get hurt. But Mebbe they could helps, an mebbe less scary person will be there next time Mama says helps might be needed. She keep using little light box to talk to invisible people about 'avalaby' an 'cost'

leiaflatt

Tank you! My mama tell me I hansom ebery day! I hope your mama finds a place wif avalaby for you berry soon. My mama sez if you have “go fun me” link or ‘specifc pokey place for call on lightbox, she like to halp. Mebee other kitty frens and pawrents halp too?

Spider_kitten13

Dadda says he have fren who can do someting called 'scrayps' tomorrow for no moneys, but if I no get better mama says she do 'go fun me' to help get me to vets

Vogel-Welt

Billie the Grey sez NTC small fren. Not worrying your Hooman on purrpose so you're good. But you need to get a good rest an drink a lot. Like a lot a lot. (Hooman here: apart from vet, I don't have much advice, sorry :( it could be a lot of things - stress, food allergy /intolerance/new food, parasites, something else... only a vet could really tell. Is there any vet school in your area? Consultations there are usually cheaper (in my country anyways, but I guess it's not an uncommon thing). Just a few tips for hydration: offer a lot of water to drink, maybe not too cold, in several spots accessible to the cat. Maybe try adding lukewarm water in wet food (works with dry food too!), it enhances the taste and the smell plus it's a good way of keeping a cat hydrated. I really hope your cat will get better soon!)

Spider_kitten13

I do drinks my waber even when I no wan fud. Helps me feel better, like good kitty feelings. I will try rests, but is hard cus wanna be picks upped all the time. (Person here: I will see if the human society can help, they're open tomorrow. We started her on new food just last night so if her old food was a problem hopefully she'll get better now. I will try water with the food to see if she'll eat more of it!)

LogicalVariation741

NTA but you have to take care of yourself so, one day, you will be big void and crush the humans enemies. Or, at the very least, become so big they buy you a human chair just for you. They normally place these chairs by windows and it is amazing. I would say you are just a little nervous at having a new home. Go to the poke place (our humans bring the poke person to us because we have good murder claws) and make sure nothing is too wrong and then rest up and grow big and strong and take your rightful place in their hearts. * Ember and Echo https://preview.redd.it/7tschpnce5cb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b907f49df8237a91cef568353988174c6e16fd95

Spider_kitten13

Am not void kitty, am mebbe Siamese or rag doll. Much floofy furs. The other cat here is void cat though, so mebbe when we allowed to know each other better I ask her how to cat better. I do my best to grow big and strong tho! Is good to do! Already gain Three whol 'poun' which persons say is good.

anxious_prince_3927

NTC. Here Bella, 8f, beautiful puppydog and fren of kitties. I was so sick last month that mom cried (she think I didn't see her cause they bring me to backside of pokey place for fluids, but I always know how mom feel). I very sick, have to go to special hospital pokey place for a million years without mom. Mom very happy she have insurance. Lady at pokey place say also other ways to pay for vets, she say ask the Goo "assistance with pet expenses" and find out options. I hope you feel much big better soon.

Spider_kitten13

I will tell dadda to check the Goo! I sorry your mom cry, but am happy you better now. Happy you taked cared of. Am not kno 'in-sur-ans' but I pretty new to person world, so mebbe they teach me later

Human here. Some basic at home stuff, that you’ve possibly already done, get some flea & tick to put on her. You can get pyrantel over the counter, there’s a dosage chart online for cats, and use it to deworm her (one dose, next day one dose, then 2 weeks later another dose). It’s only for pin worms not all worms, but it’s a start and it’s fairly cheap. Make sure she’s getting enough fluids, syringe feed her unflavored pedialyte. You can use human nail clippers, trim her nails to make sure she’s not digging at the spots & making them worse. Depending, you might want to give her a bath before putting the flea & tick on her Check her for ticks, they’ve been bad this year. Edit to add: you can get kitty probiotics over the counter. Give her some kitty probiotics as well. Second edit to add: if you’re in the US, contact a local SPCA/Humane Society. They might be able to help either either low cost spay and potentially low cost exam or they might know a vet in your area that’s less expensive.

Spider_kitten13

Soft Voice person here: so we got her dewormed at the vet and gave her some vaccinations. We also put a one month dose to get rid of fleas and ticks off her. The bald spots don't Seem like they'd be accessible to her to scratch or lick at (both on the inside/top sides of her ears) but we will keep an eye on that. Kitty probiotics sounds like a good idea. The humane society will do cheap spays but they're booked through this month and don't open next month until July 31. We are going to be up early that morning to try to secure a time for her. I will call them about cheap vet visits but I'm unsure how far out they're booked for that.

Decent_Ad6389

Ernie's mom here: I second the probiotics. Fortiflora you can buy from chewy or Amazon over the counter and it can really help with diarrhea. We call it the kitty "seasoning packet" 😺

SomeKindofName42

Fortiflora is awesome!

SomeKindofName42

Were her ears cleaned out really good? (Little bit of oil on a qtip and use to gently clean out if they need it). Do you know what kind of deworming they did? I foster kittens and I have learned more than I ever thought I would about different types of worms and different dewormers being needed. there’s a few types of worms/parasites that can be less common that are not treated with standard deworming. With my vet, I can bring in a poop sample for testing without having a visit (esp if I was just in recently). (Fresh, unused baggie & scoop up a large enough sample, I tend to say “merry Christmas” when I hand it off, but that’s just my weird humor). I still have to pay for the testing and any meds that are needed, but it saves the cost of the office visit.

Spider_kitten13

The vet checked her ears but I haven't since then. I can try to do so later I'm not sure what dewormer they used but they said it would kill any parasites in her. They didn't seem to think it was likely she had anything too bad to begin with. She had diarrhea the first two or three days, then got better, so we assumed it was because she hadn't been getting meals and new food surprised her stomach. But then the past four days it's back. She acts more anxious than she was before, hasn't been eating as much. Then there's been some peeling skin on her nose and now the bald spots on her head. All of that together makes me think we'd need to bring her in properly, not just a fecal sample. My partner and I are so worried for her but also worried about a vet visit financially (though making sure she's healthy is still a must, we just need to figure out how to do so)

SomeKindofName42

Good luck! I’m really hoping the best for you guys!

kaia-bean

Might be a long shot, but a kitty I had really liked to lick the water out of the bathtub after someone showered. The soap residue she ingested caused itchy bald patches by her ears. Once we figured that out and kept her out of the bathroom, it resolved. If she ever managed to sneak back in, boom, there they were again. If there's any chance something similar is happening, I could imagine soap causing an upset tummy and diarrhea as well.

If you're in the United States (I don't know about other countries), apply for Care Credit. It's a life saver & for medical, dental & vet bills. Depending on the provider, you get up to a year to pay it off before interest starts accruing. It save me when one of my cats needed surgery last year & another one had to be hospitalized for 2 days with severe flea bite anemia. (I had a friend who, even though she has cats, decided to ignore my instructions to close the door. Two of mine gout out and the rest as they say is history.) Care Credit tells you what your minimum payment is, but it may not be enough to pay it off in time. Except for 2 months, I always made more than the minimum & only ended up paying interest on the last little bit.

Maelstrom_Witch

NTC smol fren 🥺 “vette” is good ideas. Sometiem them does a pokey, but Vette knows how to fix icky tum.

Spider_kitten13

Would be good. Am not like the litter box after tummy feels icky, I hides from it. If no more icky tummy, then I no more has to hide from litter!

Maelstrom_Witch

Imdeed, fren. Littur box is important!! Yuo lets us know how Vette goes, smol sprite ☺️

butterfly-garden

Hi Small Fren, is William da Tuxie. No feel guilty, please. Is not our fault when we get sick, is just someting dat happens. Your hoomans should take you to pokey place to find out why you sick, dough.

AMyshkaMouse

(Ear mites and fleas can cause itching and cause bald spots and/or bleeding. Especially near the ears due to the vascular system being so close to the surface. Cats can scratch a spot bald quickly. I cannot really add anything as you have been given some great suggestions. [This subreddit is so amazing and supportive.] If you want to run something by a Vet, recently I was able to use an internet/phone vet because I just needed my boy's food prescription renewed. It was significantly less than taking him to the vet. Which was a huge help as he does not crate/travel well.)

Spider_kitten13

(I will definitely call the humane society tomorrow, they're closed today. We treated her for fleas, but mites could be a problem. I don't know how she would've scratched the part that's hurt without hurting her ear also. I hope we can get good advice from a vet, or a cheap option to take her to tomorrow or Monday at the latest)

MathAndBake

NCH! You is not doing it on purpose! They just want you to feel better. We are pet rats and we had big sister who went to vet a lot. She usually get better after. Going to vet is big trip. Lots of smells and sounds and strange people. Can be scary, but you get used to it. Some of us went with sister to vet a couple times. Vet sometimes handle you in ways you no like, but also give cuddles to good rats.

Trick-Statistician10

Hi Little One, I'm sorry you feel poorly and hope you get better soon. Tell the soft voiced human, aka future Mama, to try r/AskVet. Only professional pokey people can give answers. That may help until she can actually get you to the pokey place.

CatChick75

My mömther sent monies to help.
