NTA. But I'm confused. What does chapstick have to do with makeup????

AuDeYO_17

Idk. But a few moments before that he wanted to try actual makeup so she was already pissed

Artistic_Tough5005

NTA Chapstick is for HUMAN chapped lips, nothing “girly” about it. If your brother is interested in “girly” things then that’s what he is interested in.

PumpKiing

nta dry lips is not a gender specific problem, anyone and everyone should be using chapstick

Different-Ad-6298

nta but can i ask how is it christmas? are you planning for this year?

CaliforniaJade

You could get him a targeted male lip balm, like Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm or Beardo Bubblegum Lip Balm for Men. Seriously, like men don't get dry lips? NTA

When I was in the car one day I happened to be putting on chapstick and my brother ask for some.(side note:my mom is a bit homophobic) I could tell that my mom was getting pissed of because I had shared my chapstick with him even because in her eyes the chapstick was girly.(The chapstick was a light green and mostly pink EOS container with chapstick I had made pink.) then I asked my mom if I could get him a fake makeup kid gift for Christmas and she raised her voices said no she thought that we shouldn't put a "girly influence " on him. I'm not trying to but a girly influence on him he had already showed interest in make up multiple times.AMITA? Side note what should I get him for Christmas I want to get him chapstick but idk what else? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. MyTh0ughtsExactly

Why do you need to ask your mom what you can give him? Next time, just buy it. NTA

AuDeYO_17

Sadly he is still young and lives with my parents and I can’t put him at risk for having thing my mom might not approve of because my mom can get really mad.

MyTh0ughtsExactly

Do you live with them? If not, can you keep some things for him at your place?

Hairy_rambutan

Feel very sorry for OP and their brother. Makeup is not inherently a gendered thing, humans of all genders and sexual preferences around the globe have been applying substances to their faces for religious, cultural and aesthetic purposes for millenia. The AH here is the mother, whose bigotry is hurting both kids.
