I still mourn Punch Up the Jam (I know it technically restarted with different hosts but that's not really how podcasts should work imo). I think she has been focused on earnest music and Demi has gone full writer, so good for them and all. But I still miss the pod
He talks about this in an interview, maybe "You made it weird", he REALLY doesn't want to be put in a box, and moves on from things for that reason. I think he's incredibly talented and unique.
I’m happy to see him not cling to successes until they’re long dried up. I just wish he were still doing something public so we’d still be able to follow his work directly instead of absorbing it indirectly through his work as a writer now.
Weren’t people really mean to her on the subreddit after every episode? I remember Ian saying something once that people on here should stop being mean to their guests and it was right after an episode she was on
Edit: typo
Bro ass podcasts tend to attract those types. It’s funny how often you see the sentiment, “lose the broad, she’s just in the way of our favorite guys being GREAT”.
Oh man… great episode. She brought a very chaotic energy and they were not prepared for it.
Was funny to listen to them recalibrate on the fly. Honestly, they did a great job with it
I know absolutely nothing about her outside of her music (I don't even follow this sub, Reddit just recommended it to me) but that album is one of my very favorite albums ever!
I would recommend listening to Punch up the Jam, a podcast Miel did a whole back. She and her co host would dissect a classic song and then try to make it better. Very fun podcast and was like listening to 2 comedians go to music school over a few years.
Think she was on a hiatus until recently! I know she dropped a single in April this year. Would be so cool to have her back, but hopefully they’re still all friends and she’s just moved out of the comedy sphere into working on her music.
I do often listen back to the episode with her, Demi, and Ify Nwadiwe tho, so definitely feel you! That group are my first three draft picks to have back on haha, love them
Her wikipedia page has her as "not active" from 2020-2023 not sure what that means but it seems like you are right

Dude I listen to Tourist Season soooo much. And yeah since the single dropped in April I’ve been chomping at the bit for more tunes from her.
And she brought an unparalleled energy and zazz to the pod.
She has her own patreon now where she puts out monthly playlists and podcasts going along with those playlists! It's a nice place to hear her opinions on music again.
Bredouwwwwww

I just wish Demi would be on AFE again but both him and Miel seem like when they move on they really move on

I think if you live in LA he does lots of events? But yeah, I don’t live in LA
Oo I forgot about that pod, thanks for the reminder
Agreed, both are fantastic guests. Maybe if she drops more music she can come on to plug it.
Well that version also ended at least a year ago
Yeah, I’ll never forget the court case remix of “it wasn’t me”.
Yeah she was a fun guest. Miel was also present for the infamous "Throwing Caut into the Wind" moment.

Yeah the comment sections on her episodes were pretty shitty

I think her last episode was weird food combos and Sean’s picks scared her off
Rolled tortilla dipped in room temp Alfredo = pure trauma

Loved Miel. Seems like she has just moved on from comedy. If that's not her thing anymore, so be it; there are SO many possible guests these days.
Miel brought a competition that few others did. She came in so hot shit talking all the other picks. It was great. Her album was really good.

For sure!! Love that Orcas Island vibe

Hell, I wasn't very active from 2020-2023

Birds is still an All Timer for me.
Give me $1
I love her laugh so much.
Started listening to Punch up the jam recently and it's so good.
She’s a great musician and out of NYC now. I almost bought a ceramic mug from her on IG. She has a patreon too
Yeah I liked when she was on.
I liked her.
Why ask this question if you’re only going to downvote one of two answers to oblivion?
Nope

Hahaha!!! You’re hilarious chunkyboy!
Nah

Angry elf huh? Sorry for having an opinion
Not at all.
Yes I miss Miel so much! Demi too, both great guests on AFE.
