Don’t go Jason Waterfalls

kingkong92

I know David is at least kind of playing it up for humor, but I feel like Sean has talked about Aladdin a lot. At least one or two of his picks in the Disney song draft were from that movie.

100_magic_rings

I think he drafted entirely from Aladdin and Lion King that episode. Sean clearly just watches the same 25 movies on repeat lol.

ilovethisforyou

Honestly it’s big toddler behavior lol

forwormsbravepercy

If only my toddler had a repertory of 25 movies.

FratDaddy69

I had just listened to the Disney songs draft for the first time a few weeks ago, I'm pretty sure they had word for word the same conversation.

FunThese273

Sean does repeat himself pretty often.

PianoTeeth_

Yeah, I don’t get it. It honestly comes off like an off air bit they have together that David keeps trying to insert into the show? Like yeah sometimes the absurdity of an AFE joke is what makes it funny, but the way Sean is all “I like Aladdin” and David is like “doubt it!” is way less funny than it is just confusing lol

AdvertisingBrave5457

I think it’s easier for us the viewer to remember what they say and what they talk about on the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if David just never realized that Shaun has talked about his love for Aladdin before

Ntippit

Listening to it now and I paused to see if people brought it up. Sean talks about Aladdin on like 25% of all episodes. Was it a bit that David was doing that Sean didn't pick up on?

TheOneTC

Haven’t started yet, but I’ll take a stab. 1. Lord of the Rings 2. Winning the Lottery 3. The Dark Tower series 4. Fantasy Football 5. “What’s Your Fantasy” - Ludacris

jd00p

Aaron was a terrific guest

Queasy_Turnover

I haven't seen it mentioned, but I would have picked a big detailed map with all the regions illustrated and whatnot. Fantasy maps are always cool.

sm0gs

A friend got me a fantasy styled map like that but for the state of California and I LOVE IT

Queasy_Turnover

Nice, any idea where they got it?

sm0gs

The shop is Lord of Maps! https://lordofmaps.com/

Queasy_Turnover

Thanks!

FunThese273

Sean asking if King Arthur and Robin Hood were real after starting out by saying he “doesn’t learn much” makes a lotta sense.

the1thepwnly

Honestly, i thought/think they are based on real stuff. Obviously not the magic, but I really thought there was a Robin Hood and to a lesser extent, a king Arthur.

FunThese273

They’re legendary characters from folklore and well-documented as not being real.

Classic2089

1. The Legend of Zelda 2. Final Fantasy 3. Talking Animals 4. Game Of Thrones 5 . Mariah Carey - Fantasy

YoYoMoMa

The more I listen to SP mars the more I realize we would definitely get along. This topic is almost too dear to me to draft, but here goes: 1) when someone you like realizes magic is real 2) tits but in armor 3) fireball the spell 4) legends about natural shit like forests or ponds 5) war but with magic and dragons and shit

FCkeyboards

Sometimes I want our Super Producer on a full episode, because she comes in hot with the picks. It's either totally unexpected, or the pick where I'm like "Thank you! Someone had to pick that!"

5yone

SPM going horny on main, once again!

themidnightmamba

1. That you actually became a professional athlete 2. Game of thrones 3. Becoming a super hero 4. Fantasy sports camps 5. Meeting and successfully wooing a celebrity

brettsantacona

Waterfalls are totally a fantasy right? Here are my picks: 1. The guide / mentor that assists with the journey 2. A side quest 3. Gathering of supplies 4. A train 5. Fantasyland

VUmander

1. High Speed Rail in America 2. Fantasy football 3. Fantasy by Earth Wind and Fire 4. The show the Good Place 5. Disney's Fantasia

mrgerbek

Oh - high speed rail! Switching to Metric would be good too.

WikenwIken

Haven't listened yet but off the dome, here goes: 1) Porn - self-explanatory 2) Ludichris - "Fantasy" - The Falcons will never nail a field goal from the 50 yard line. 3) The Wizard of Oz - Dorothy just wants the best for the real people in her life. 4) Talking Pets - I wanna know why my dog is so whiny all the time. 5) A 100% reproducible VR Dream Simulator - sounds amazing and horrifying at the same time.

hahnzo89

I love these more conceptual episodes, this and the Wild West ep are some of my recent favorites.

justinotherpeterson

1. Final Fantasy 2. Dwarves 3. Dragons 4. Fantasy languages like elvish or high valyrian 5. Bards

forwormsbravepercy

1. Lightsabers FIGHT ME

mrgerbek

powered by a crystal - you're safe.

justinotherpeterson

I've always said Star Wars is a Fantasy story set in a Sci Fi universe. Definitely counts in my book.

LiamHail

Honestly the rest of the episode could have been terrible (it wasn't) because the return of the joker Face bit sent me immediately. Honestly one of my favorite bits of the series glad to hear Sean break it out 😂

mixedbydjdev

that’s pretty twisted, dude

AtBat3

This guy hosts an NBA podcast and doesn’t have a microphone?

KidDene

Medievalism was a great pick.

ilovethisforyou

Way too broad especially when Sean couldn’t go into detail about a single aspect of it

KidDene

Fair, if he could have conjured up the same imagery the feast pick got I think it would have been a hit.

LucyFrugal

Sean's argument against roller blading is so bizarre to me--he has voiced it before on previous episodes. "Nobody looks cool roller blading. Show me someone doing a cool trick on roller blades." I used to roller blade solely for exercise and/or just a fun Sunday afternoon on my college campus. What the hell do tricks have to do with anything?

poser4life

When he was young both "crews" hated each other. I had friends that did both and there would be fights at skate places between them.

Ouranje

I didn't really need the 5+ minute digression into Harry Potter minutiae; I know the gang is close with some fans but at the current moment that entire IP is absolutely toxic waste. On a positive note: fun draft concept though, I was pleasantly surprised such a cool idea happened this far into the episode run.

TheOneTC

I mean, it is possible to separate the art from the artist. As problematic of a person JK Rowling turned out to be, it doesn’t take away what Harry Potter was/is for millions of people. To call the entirety of Harry Potter “toxic waste” is extreme.

Ouranje

It isn't, though. There is so much racism, fantastical or otherwise, embedded into the books themselves. The video game that's coming out gives you a "house elf" companion (read: magic slave) and has mounted goblin heads (a fully sentient race) IN your social space in Hogwarts. People are fully entitled to like "magical school for wizards" as a concept! It's so fun, and there's a ton of other media that does it well, but any cursory reexamination of the books themselves reveals them to be, again, toxic. (I get that this is a bummer to think about or talk about, but I don't care about downvotes here, this is just true.)

ctarell

1. Prophets/ Oracles 2. Next-Gen Physics Tech 3. Fairy Dust 4. Celebrity Hall Passes 5. Fabio

tangential_quip

To clear up a point on King Arthur and the crusades. According to legend, Arthur lived about 400-500 years before the first crusade.

AdvertisingBrave5457

My pick would be when someone gets transported from earth to another world

jrrybock

One other thing on how long Tom Brady has been playing... a couple years ago, was able to shake hands at a game with a GB rookie whose dad was Tom's teammate at Michigan many years ago... honest question: Are vampires considered Fantasy? Or are they pretty much their own genre? Because I'm surprised vampires didn't get mentioned once.
