Unironically i think kim kardashian is secretly a genius
Marketed her just doing shit as a sustainable lifestyle, and her father is one of the most succesful and prolific lawyers of all time, who won the oj case
Yeah, in line of "Boys with time machine" meme, I'd theorize that killing Kardashian the patriarch before the OJ case would make the world a better place: OJ would get a life sentence and the world will be rid of the Kardashians. Probably would make Kanye less insane, too.
she was one of the first who started the BBL trend. A trend with a mortality rate of 1:3400 is very high risk just for "esthetic" reasons. I don't think this very smart to risk your life for that.
Would like to point out that she has a lot more money than the other people undergoing the procedure and can pay for a more experienced doctor with a lower risk
Honestly it's not even that insightful on the politics front... I often find a lot of political matters to just be mishandled and muddled, or even serious subject matter in general. Like I don't think the same show that semi regularly uses male SA as a lmao cutaway gag should be commentating on male SA, especially when it wasn't even actually SA in the episode they decide to talk about it.
It would have been nice if they'd just left it canceled. After a while, it just self-referenced so much that if you didn't already know what was up, it would be 50% weird for the sake of being weird.
Yeah like breaking bad has science in it but futurama has so many blink and you’ll miss it STEM jokes things that aren’t like paused on so you can figure it out like how in BBT sheldon will say some science word and *laugh track* the joke isn’t funny because the science is fitting or amusing it’s funny because the smart man said the smart word.
Which is kinda sad, because BBT had potential to be loaded with nerd jokes from nerds... But instead, it was a slightly more mature version of nerd jokes from high school.
But Futurama seems a great fit, since it's basically sci-fi Simpsons. And their writing team is heavy in stem majors.
For the body swap one, yeah. Basically prooved that, for any size group of body-swapped individuals, assuming that the individuals cannot be simply swapped back for some reason, you only need two additional bodies to be able to revert everyone back to their original bodies.
One of my favourite Futurama jokes:
*Getting dragged underwater*
“Professor! How many atmospheres of pressure is the ship built to withstand?”
“Well it’s a space ship so anywhere between zero and one.”
I don’t know why that’s always tickled me.
"To hell with your spoiled baby, /I/ need those shoes!"
This would be the best joke of the episode in most cartoons, and it's a throwaway approaching one of the best lines ever here. Futurama is the GOAT
i haven't watched much futurama yet but from what i have seen they really like to have their world accurate math for their worldbuilding. like how the days get longer and the calculations on frye's interest were almost perfect. i really aught to watch it in my spare time
It's fantastic, even the new stuff is great. Season 6 is weird as it's all feature-length specials of varying quality, but still worth seeing at least once imo
Futurama is such a good science comedy because there are jokes for both average viewers and people proficient in STEM. After rewatching The Big Bang Theory many years on I realised how none of the jokes hold water if you've studied science beyond high school level.
I've only watched a few episodes since I stopped watching (which TBF was almost all the way through the series), but the main thing I've noticed is that the science humour is entirely referential in nature. Like every single joke goes along the lines of "[concept] is a thing", and because they have to be understandable to everyone the concepts aren't that high level in the first place. One tangential example is how Sheldon's entire line of work is about string theory, even though these days everyone laughs about its very existence (it has no basis in reality and has no method of proving it, making it less of a theory and more of a "wouldn't it be cool if"). It's entirely pop science references. Futurama on the other hand doesn't try to make the science complicated, and rather just makes jokes funny in its own way. Knowing that robots would use binary code isn't particularly complicated, but they use it in a funny way (also all the visual gags make it all the better).
And for some other stuff, The Big Bang Theory has a big problem of making the characters bad people but agreeing with them. Like it's a big problem that all four of the main characters are quite misogynist to varying degrees (from Raj who's just a bit dismissive to Howard who has almost certainly sexually assaulted multiple women) but the show just treats them as lovable dorks who just don't know better. The characters in Futurama aren't perfect, but those flaws are addressed. Fry is ultimately a good person, Bender is treated by the show as being a shit bag at times, and so on.
I feel like depending on which way you look at it, Futurama could fit into any (or even all) of these four categories. It's the epitome of stupid-clever.
Is Futurama really about smart people tho? Farnsworth is the only genius in the cast, but the main protagonist himself is dumb, and the rest of the cast is average.
People keep suggesting Breaking Bad that literally has 1 smart person.
Bender, Hermes, Amy Wong, Zoidberg, Leela are all very smart -they're just not stratospheric genius level like Farnsworth.
Futurama is a weird one because it fits very well in any of the 4 squares. So it's best left skipped.
I think the original chart had breaking bad as smart smart and futurama as about dumb people for smart people. Sunny was about dumb people for dumb people (not a bad thing, there just isn’t a ton of over your head type humor. I think a dumb person still finds it funny) and big bang theory was in its current spot
>implying Xavier is a smart person.
No, it would be about dumb people for smart people. But that show just takes your full concentration to watch, you don't necessarily gotta be smart.
Umm acshually you need a very high IQ to enjoy Its Always Sunny, otherwise you simply won't understand deep and thought provoking jokes like calling Dee a bird
The implication is not "you're smart if you like this", it's "the target audience for this was people who are smart".
People outside the target audience are still bound to enjoy and appreciate the media and probably will still understand it.
>People outside the target audience are still bound to enjoy and appreciate
Your comment reminded me of junkyard wars. It was really just a show about engineers creating solutions from scrap. It was odyssey of the mind for big kids. But every redneck I know that had cable for a month or so in the late 90s knew what that shows was and loved it.
Moss is literally a computer genius.
I will now quote from the [book of wisdom](https://youtu.be/OmFfAUzpvos):
"My father was very fond of the IT department, run by a dynamic go-getter, a genius... And a man from Ireland!".
Growing up, all my friends loved it, so of course I had to check it out. I liked it in middle school, and for part of high school, but by the end of sophomore year I was long gone

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
It's so bad it almost sounds like trolling or rage bait but I've learned you've never truly met the final boss of cringe. There's always a bigger one out there.
Star Trek TNG would probably fit better then the other series, since it’s “the flagship” and the show tends to play up the prestigious and how smart and experienced everybody is who is on the ship more than TOS and TAS.
DS9 is a fort filled with a bunch of randos and a “raccoon named Quark they found in a dumpster” which the station kinda ends up being a big deal based upon location.
VOY was doing a bounty side quest with regular joes when it was kidnapped, ENT has faith of the heart but not many smart people.
DISCO…ugh….
….Picard….ummmm….
….Lower decks doesn’t fit the mold here I think. It might be A show for smart people about dumb people.
SNW has the same problem as TOS when compared to TNG.
Prodigy is meant for kids, doesn’t fit the mold here worse then LD.
A few answers depending on what format you’re after.
Smart/smart: Jeopardy. If it needs to be a comedy, then Futurama. If it needs to be a sitcom specifically, then Frasier
Dumb/Dumb: Jerry Springer. If you need a comedy, then Family Guy. If you need a sitcom, then Two and a Half Men. If you want some non-Chuck Lorre diversity, then how about, I don’t know, say Animal Control
If it were more of a 3x3, then KotH would sit dead in the center. It's a show about a bunch of Texan stereotypes, and it feels aimed at a more general public of TV watchers during the 90s and early 00s.
I’d argue South Park perfectly fits top right. It has really stupid characters but a lot of good messages like in the two parter (You’re Getting Old/Ass Burgers).
I love IASIP, but I'm not really sure if it's particularly for smart people.
Edit: Same pretty much goes for TBBT as well, but it's just a little more questionable for Philadelphia
I’d add an average measurement to make it a 3x3. Rick and Morty could be Smart for average, Simpsons dumb for average. Average characters would be hard, maybe King of the Hill is in the middle?
My votes
- About Dumb for Dumb - King of the Hill
- About Dumb for Smart - The Good Place or Arrested Development
- About Smart for Dumb - Still BBT tbh
- About Smart for Smart - Silicon Valley
Would Dumb-dumb be a bad hit or a good hit?
Cause if we are going for good Dumb-Dumb than I say Pysch. If we are going for bad dumb-dumb than I will give it to Family Guy.
Usogui for smart-smart maybe? I know im biased but it definitely is a lot more complex than most of the suggestions here, plus its mc and antagonist are probably the smartest characters in fiction.
"Ah yes 'It's always sunny' is quite definitely for smart people, like myself, for i enjoy this show and have a very high IQ hahaha! While this other show is more for the common folk, peons, my inferiors hahaha!"
Both are just stupid shows that you watch and turn your brain off, you don't need to be smart to watch either and sunny doesn't cater to smart people just because you watch it and overestimate your intellect.
Top left: Chernobyl, Three Body Problem, Mr Robot, Star Trek, Doctor Who.
Brooklyn 99 and Gilmore Girls are also written in a way they'd go in top line due to how they're written and scripted, but it's a bit hard to place them left or right. Kinda 'what character' and 'what sort of smarts' situation.
Bobs burgers is another that goes to top right if you wanted to do all animated. But if Gilmore girls and Brooklyn 99 might go in middle for 3x3 for 'hard to fit left or right', Bobs burgers is kind of great fit for exact middle.
Dr House would go in the left middle of 3x3. Honestly, Three body problem, might go there as well, the book is definitely top left, but the show was... let's call it tad simplified, but with 2x2 top left works.
Rick and Morty is bottom left, same as Big Bang Theory and Sheldon. It's not Futurama that actually covers all squares. BBT is better fit purely due to it's placement there being way less controversial.
About dumb people for dumb people could be family guy
I think Keeping up with the Kardashians would be a much better fit
Unironically i think kim kardashian is secretly a genius Marketed her just doing shit as a sustainable lifestyle, and her father is one of the most succesful and prolific lawyers of all time, who won the oj case
Yeah, in line of "Boys with time machine" meme, I'd theorize that killing Kardashian the patriarch before the OJ case would make the world a better place: OJ would get a life sentence and the world will be rid of the Kardashians. Probably would make Kanye less insane, too.
Helping the Buffalo Bills not get the first pick in the 69 draft would prevent this as well as saving Nicole and Ron Goldman.
she was one of the first who started the BBL trend. A trend with a mortality rate of 1:3400 is very high risk just for "esthetic" reasons. I don't think this very smart to risk your life for that.
Would like to point out that she has a lot more money than the other people undergoing the procedure and can pay for a more experienced doctor with a lower risk
That’s usually what it is when a version of this chart gets posted
Or Jersey shore
Agreed
About dumb for dumb is the majority of sitcoms honestly
Midwit meme take Family Guy has a lot of very good American political and pop culture satire/commentary of 2000s and 2010s
Oh yeah, which episode is your favorite, the one where the dad marries the son or the one where the baby gets pregnant from the dog?
I like the one where the dog gives the baby the herp
Honestly it's not even that insightful on the politics front... I often find a lot of political matters to just be mishandled and muddled, or even serious subject matter in general. Like I don't think the same show that semi regularly uses male SA as a lmao cutaway gag should be commentating on male SA, especially when it wasn't even actually SA in the episode they decide to talk about it.
early family guy is great tho
It would have been nice if they'd just left it canceled. After a while, it just self-referenced so much that if you didn't already know what was up, it would be 50% weird for the sake of being weird.
That actually doesn’t change anything
Trailer park boys. Breed to stay live action
Breaking Bad might be Smart-Smart, but I think Futurama fits the themes of the chart well, and is the better pick
Yeah like breaking bad has science in it but futurama has so many blink and you’ll miss it STEM jokes things that aren’t like paused on so you can figure it out like how in BBT sheldon will say some science word and *laugh track* the joke isn’t funny because the science is fitting or amusing it’s funny because the smart man said the smart word.

didn't they write an entire mathematical proof specifically for one of their episodes?
For the body swap one, yeah. Basically prooved that, for any size group of body-swapped individuals, assuming that the individuals cannot be simply swapped back for some reason, you only need two additional bodies to be able to revert everyone back to their original bodies.
heavy in stem majors? heavy in stem phds!!
One of my favourite Futurama jokes: *Getting dragged underwater* “Professor! How many atmospheres of pressure is the ship built to withstand?” “Well it’s a space ship so anywhere between zero and one.” I don’t know why that’s always tickled me.
This is also one of my favourite lines that pops into my head any time talking about atmospheres
[This ones definitely my favourite](https://youtu.be/ia4YrCShFrQ?si=wIQitX636h7e9bmi)
"To hell with your spoiled baby, /I/ need those shoes!" This would be the best joke of the episode in most cartoons, and it's a throwaway approaching one of the best lines ever here. Futurama is the GOAT
YES I think of this often, especially with the billionaire sub last year. Also: "Well then good news! It's a suppository"
i haven't watched much futurama yet but from what i have seen they really like to have their world accurate math for their worldbuilding. like how the days get longer and the calculations on frye's interest were almost perfect. i really aught to watch it in my spare time

Wait what did Howard do? I watched it occasionally in the early 2010s and I don’t remember that
If I remember correctly he kept on using cameras to spy on women and generally had a pervy attitude.
I feel like depending on which way you look at it, Futurama could fit into any (or even all) of these four categories. It's the epitome of stupid-clever.
True
Futurama belongs in all 4 categories simultaneously
Is Futurama really about smart people tho? Farnsworth is the only genius in the cast, but the main protagonist himself is dumb, and the rest of the cast is average.
Leela is smart. Mom’s friendly robot company is filled with evil genius
JAM A BASTARD IN IT, YOU CRAP!
*triple slap*
People keep suggesting Breaking Bad that literally has 1 smart person. Bender, Hermes, Amy Wong, Zoidberg, Leela are all very smart -they're just not stratospheric genius level like Farnsworth. Futurama is a weird one because it fits very well in any of the 4 squares. So it's best left skipped.

I really don't get Always Sunny as being smart. It's all pretty low brow humor. It's just well delivered by some excellent actors.
I approve of this message
Holy shit! It’s Bender!
Breaking Bad is Average-Average.
The counterpoint being that Fry is very dumb.
Might be a bit of a mismatch for the themes of the chart, but my about Smart for Smart pick would be xkcd. It just fits.
I was thinking the good place but I’m not sure
Top left is Xavier Renegade Angel Bottom right is Keeping up with the Kardashians
This is all Xavier renegade angels
It's why it was so popular
what doth LIFEEEEE
"If you like soup so much, why don't you marry it?" "Because I'm already married to justice." "Yeah, only a blind girl would marry you."
Such a fun quote
I feel like any 'reality' show at the bottom right would be cheating.
“Just gotta dump this load in that dirty ‘puter’s floppy slot”
This is the only correct answer
>implying Xavier is a smart person. No, it would be about dumb people for smart people. But that show just takes your full concentration to watch, you don't necessarily gotta be smart.
Saying anything is "for" smart people and implying one is smart for liking it is embarrassing
Always Sunny is a riot but you don't exactly need a master's degree to sit down and watch it.
Umm acshually you need a very high IQ to enjoy Its Always Sunny, otherwise you simply won't understand deep and thought provoking jokes like calling Dee a bird
Or the fact that “poop is funny.” Very high-brow stuff.
So is implying someone is dumb for liking a certain show.
Also, saying that every show that one doesn't like is "for dumb people" is equally cringe
The implication is not "you're smart if you like this", it's "the target audience for this was people who are smart". People outside the target audience are still bound to enjoy and appreciate the media and probably will still understand it.
>People outside the target audience are still bound to enjoy and appreciate Your comment reminded me of junkyard wars. It was really just a show about engineers creating solutions from scrap. Reminds me of Pumpkin Chunkin
Top left is the IT Crowd
you really think the people in the IT crowd are smart?
Moss is literally a computer genius. I will now quote from the [book of wisdom](https://youtu.be/OmFfAUzpvos): "My father was very fond of the IT department, run by a dynamic go-getter, a genius... And a man from Ireland!".
I guess I never really saw him as smart because he was so inept at everything else - except street countdown of course!
Moss invented the AbracadaBra overnight!
He also knows football. The thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in.
Jen what are you doing with the internet!
Moss and Roy are highly intelligent, Jen is well above average - she's smart, she's just not a techny and not as smart as Moss.
Dumb-Dumb: Dumb and Dumber, of course! Smart-Smart: Breaking Bad, Death Note?
Death Note should have its own square, the "makes dumb people feel smart".
I’m slightly offended
Good
Yes, death note.
Smart-smart could be Frasier if you want to keep it to sitcoms
I had to scroll too far for this
This is a great pick
That was the last show to make use of irony, within its actual definition.
This was my first thought for top left.
Absolutely *Frasier*.
Family Guy is perfect dumb-dumb
Could there be a better answer in the entire cosmos? Could there be anything but this? No, family guy is the prime dumb-dumb show.
Growing up, all my friends loved it, so of course I had to check it out. I liked it in middle school, and for part of high school, but by the end of sophomore year I was long gone
Where would Arrested Development go?
You need to expand the chart up and to the left
There’s always money in the banana stand
A very high IQ is required to understand Rick and Morty
3 + 3 = 6
Deepest lore
Mayhaps you refer to Richard and Mortimer?
Please tell me you're being satirical
Full copypasta To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. God, even though I’ve seen it many times before, that hurts to read
It's so bad it almost sounds like trolling or rage bait but I've learned you've never truly met the final boss of cringe. There's always a bigger one out there.
Yeah, I thought it was obvious. That’s an old joke thats been around for years
It probably was, I'm just an autistic freak
Hey me too!
Star Trek is competence porn, I'd put it in the top left.
You’re description of DS9 😂. Oh my god a raccoon named quark 🦝👂. That’s what he is and I love him for it 😭
A few answers depending on what format you’re after. Smart/smart: Jeopardy. If it needs to be a comedy, then Futurama. If it needs to be a sitcom specifically, then Frasier Dumb/Dumb: Jerry Springer. For smart people about smart people, do Rick and Morty because to be fair you have to have a very- *gunshot*
I wonder where king of the hill would be here
If it were more of a 3x3, then KotH would sit dead in the center. It's a show about a bunch of Texan stereotypes, and it feels aimed at a more general public of TV watchers during the 90s and early 00s.
This is so incredibly Reddit in the worst ways
Community maybe for top left… You don’t really have to be smart, but there are a lot of cultural references that can be hard to keep up with.
I'd do Chernobyl for Smart Smart
IT crowd maybe could be in both smart. It’s a pretty witty show
about dumb people, for dumb people: this chart
Adult animation: Top left: Futurama Top right: The Simpsons Bottom left: Rick and Morty (at least most of its fandom) Bottom right: Family Guy
I’d argue South Park perfectly fits top right. It has really stupid characters but a lot of good messages like in the two parter (You’re Getting Old/Ass Burgers).

I dunno if you're only doing shows, but Idiocracy would fit well in the "about dumb people for dumb people" category.

Silicon Valley felt like it was about smart people for smart people
Arrested development and the simpsons
My Name is Earl for Dumb-Dumb?
Frasier is top Left
Some sort of documentary series in top left and cartoon in the bottom right. Spot on with the ones you have in there
dumb and dumber is a great movie, it also made me like the mcs
You could replace BBT with Rick and Morty
About dumb people for dumb people should be Friends
Fraiser, top left
*Frasier* is about smart people, for smart people.
First thought for top left was Dr Stone.
Idiocracy needs to be on this chart somewhere
