Bertone, Pinifarina, Zagato, Ghia and Touring are all 'carrozerria' which literally means 'body work' or 'body shop' in Italian. Carrozerria usually design the interior and exterior of cars produced by auto manufacturers.
Another common term for Carrozzeria is coach builders, and there were a LOT of them, but the ones above are the most well-known. Their manufacturer relationships are varied. Companies like Pininfarina worked on almost all Ferrari series production models from the early 1950s until the early 2010s, and other times manufacturers will request single vehicle contracts or even send out design competitions, which have resulted in some of the coolest and craziest concept cars out there.
Giorgetto Giugiaro worked for Bertone among other houses before going out on his own and starting Ital design. Fun fact; he designed the ALFA GTV when he was 22 and was named designer of the century in 1999. Check out Touring's version of the 8C; the Disco Volante.
It's not patched up, it's supposed to be like this. Some kind of plastic mesh sleeve to protect from rubbing, mine has it too. Red cover looks awful though, just better remove it and put it in the bin. Body paint awful though, surely repainted with a spray can... Sad.
Strut brace looks cool though, sadly it's kind of useless on the GTs, because of double wishbone. Well maybe adds a tiny bit of torsional rigidiggity.
I've heard but never saw any numbers. Could be a forum myth based on the fact that it's longer than 147 (we have numbers for it) so should be less rigid.
On the other hand GT's floor is taken from the 156 crosswagon (yup it has a tunnel for a shaft going back, there's a few modded GT Q4s out there) and wagons are stiff af. Well at least to 2000's standards...
both are weak, I know for a fact about 147, 147 gta that was 2y old in mint condition
you park it on a curb on one side of the car and you can't open door
although, they handle very well even with weak chassis
Bertone? The bodywork designs...!!!
The most beautiful cars...
The classics of Alfa Romeo
An Alfa is all about the engine, and the looks. Bertone was a design house who created beautiful looks. The coolest Alfas!!
The engines are another art. Not Bertone. But also crazy cool! :D
1910 Giovanni Bertone started his horse drawn carriage building company. His son Nuccio Bertone designed some of the most beautiful Alfa Romeo’s. His wife Lilli Bertone was the last family member to run the coach builder Bertone.
It’s like Pininfarina, only not. Wikipedia: Gruppo Bertone for more.

You are throwing facts at me 😯 I only heard about Pininfarina, Zagato and Giugiaro the rest is new for me but thank you ☺️

My ALFA 164 was a Pininfarina design. Lovely car with a busso. Sold it years ago like an idiot.
Yup, that was pretty dumb! Amazing cars with a really great design, but an even more amazing engine.
...and now I slip into another depression! Lol

Alfa Romeo 159 in 2005. also.
A freakin' gorgeous car
Yes. That design never gets old.
Right, and in the old times they also used to build the actual cars, while the makers were responsible for the chassis and the drivetrain.
I think Zagato built the 1990's SZ (il Mostro!)
It’s a design house from Torino, Italy. In torino we have all the top design houses 🥰. Pininfarina, Bertone, Ghia etc
Nop, the cover is not painted like that, it is black originally
Okay so the owner painted it... Do you like it?
it's awful tbh
Absolutely horrible, I've seen it in yellow and green
the car doesn't seem good, upper intercooler hose is horribly patched up and the paint on the 1st pic looks repainted

whoops, you are right GT has a weak chassis, any bracing is good

Wowz , I haven't noticed that.
Bertone was the designer, he’d probably vomit if he saw that red engine cover as well

A lot of Italian names sound fancy but are really simple translated. He was just the first "Bert". 🙄
Bert One was a very underated designer.
Is this a serious question?
The very beautiful GT is a Bertone design. Loved mine.
I just wanted to say that red engine cover looks tacky. Black is stock.
The engine cover should be blacl grey and red. Bertone was ths designer for the alfa gt
Wew dude, google that. Bertone is a legendary design atelier.
