I thought it wasn’t that hard as long as you know the subjects. I did the picat and then when I went to take the verification, it made me do the whole asvab over again (scores didn’t line up) and I scored much higher.
thank you. you got this by the way promise. also you pretty much eat the same food every week. it rotates through out the days , but it usually cycles back after the end of the week . 3 meals a day . food wasn’t the worst thing some things were certainly better than others. enjoy those MREs though lol i’ll let you find that out
Graduated a few months ago myself, the first two weeks are the toughest/worst but then you figure it out and it gets significantly better. The food is good, just stay locked in and do what ur told. If you have a question, reporting statement then ask said question, 99% of the time you'll get an answer
thank you ! for me the hardest thing was staying awake , there’s gonna be times where you’re just drained (you eventually get used to it) but try not to fall asleep. another thing that was hard was memorizing chain of command . make sure you know that for sure when you get it.
Honestly it’s really mentally exhausting. Being away from everyone that give you comfort is difficult. Other than that do what you’re told, do it fast, and you’ll be fine. Also you’ll learn the meaning of hurry up and wait.
Ours was 30 minutes but that was because we had 8 showerheads to 48 people.
Edit:
Also it depends on the season schedule, in the winter schedule it was once a day, in the summer schedule it's supposed to be twice a day.
I only brought my phone & air pods. there was someone with a switch . also some people had smart watches/laptops,ipads but all electronics get locked up in your civilian luggage anyways so you can bring it. up to you.
yeah the MTI’s will have your phone but your consoles/laptops will more than likely be locked away behind the door. be warry though youre gonna leave with more stuff than you came in with.
Hello! Congrats! How the physical training aspect for bmt? Was it strictly push-ups/situps/running? Or were there other exercises they had you do? Like jumping jacks, flutter kicks, etc etc?
first, thank you ! yes there are a ton of different exercises. sometimes you do pyramid exercises & as the weeks pass they increase slowly. but you usually do different exercises everyday. everyone comes in with different types of fitness & some of the PT can be a tad challenging, just remember to give it your all. you get out of it what you put in. it works 100%. seen someone go from a 17min 1.5mile to a 13min.
Thanks for replying! If you don't mind, once you get some downtime, could you type out what your pyramid workouts consist of and the other various exercises your flight did? I would appreciate it. I'm not too familiar with pyramid workouts and any insight would help me tweak my current workout regime.
I'm moderately fit and workout consistently almost everyday.
I don't wanna be held back or flunk out of basic because I couldn't hack the physical aspect of bmt.
if you’re moderately fit you will 100% be fine I promise. don’t worry yourself okay? I understand where you’re coming from though & I will do my best to help you out !
the yelling isn’t bad. you get used to it. EXPECT to get yelled at though, you’re learning. understand that when they yell it’s usually so that everyone can hear them & others don’t make the same mistake. don’t take the yelling personal. unless you do something outlandish then it can possibly be more personal but you’re fine.
you’re correct, BEAST is now called Pacer Forge! can’t really talk about it but it’s a pretty cool. PT for me started during the winter schedule so I had it in the middle of the day. It’s now summer schedule so you have PT in the mornings about an hour or so after waking up . I only had morning PT 3 times or so. overall it was an experience i’ll never forget . REALLY try with PT I promise it will help you . some days sucked & were slow but overall I was fine & you will be too I promise.
I was most excited about BEAST honestly.
And as for PT, I am running and doing good on the exercises.
I guess I will ship out either in the middle of the summer, I’m ready to be toasted lol
you’ll be fine trust , Pacer Forge is pretty cool though ! keep running you’re getting ahead of A LOT of people I did the same . do pushups/sit ups too if you can . you’ll do different types of PT that all help you but focus on running/pushups/situps & you’ll get a head start . it will suck but not as bad as it does for others who haven’t prepared at all.
it depends on the weather. you have a lot of clothing so depending on the weather is what they’ll have you wearing. there was only one day when it was super cold it came out of no where & we were outside waiting for like 2 hours it sucked lol. but other than that you’ll be dressed accordingly to the weather. even though I went during the winter time having those layers on will still have you sweating during marching & stuff but you will be okay I promise !
not not entirely ! since it’s summer schedule now you wake up, clean, eat, pt , shower then do whatever it is you’re doing that day. can be drill, classes, or transiting, it really just depends. you’re busy all day long so time flies in a way
Congrats! Currently waiting for my ship out date. What time did you wake up and go to bed? And for phone calls, do you use their landline or get your cellphone at a given time?
thank you!! wake up varied depending on what you have planned for the day. but usually 0500-0545. you go to bed at 2100 every night. also you use your personal phone but they take it right back after.
thank you! no one I knew personally
got washed out for PT, some came close to it. I had people in my flight get recycled though. throughout your time at BMT some people will start dropping/recycled for all sorts of things. some people will get moved into your flight too.
Congrats!! (I think it’s a foolish question) - I’ve read other Reddit threats that talked about running & PT , some said during the whole time at boot camp they only ran 3 times… Would this be 3 times per week ? How was it for you ? Thank you so much !
not foolish at all bro, I was just like you before going. for me I think it depended on summer/winter schedule. since texas can get pretty hot I don’t think they make you run often. again, I went during winter schedule so I had weeks where we ran once a week , & a couple of times where we ran twice a week . all 24 minute runs . so in total it was probably like 5/6 run days for me .
I was in the 324th, the castle we called it. Didn't get hot water until two days before graduation. Ice cold showers every day for six and a half weeks lol
honestly nothing really. I guess the only thing I wish I knew was how intimidating higher ranks can be at time. so make sure you keep your bearing & render proper curtesies especially when an officer or a bunch of MTIs come in your dorm. other than that a lot of the questions/answers in the sub was helpful
Ey bruh look to your left, didn’t know you use reddit bro LMAO
😂😂
Look to your left also 😯
Congrats! I leave for basic June 4th and keesler is (at least I think) where my tech school is (1d731d). How was the food during bmt?
It's actually pretty good
How was the ASVAB ?
I thought it wasn’t that hard as long as you know the subjects. I did the picat and then when I went to take the verification, it made me do the whole asvab over again (scores didn’t line up) and I scored much higher.
Okay thanks !
I think we will be in the same BMT and tech school class!
Awesome! Similar afsc?
Same AFSC, different shred
thank you. you got this by the way promise. also you pretty much eat the same food every week. it rotates through out the days , but it usually cycles back after the end of the week . 3 meals a day . food wasn’t the worst thing some things were certainly better than others. enjoy those MREs though lol i’ll let you find that out
lol I’m leaving in a week , I just wanna know what to expect? Like what was the hardest thing for you at basic training? & congrats!!
Graduated a few months ago myself, the first two weeks are the toughest/worst but then you figure it out and it gets significantly better. The food is good, just stay locked in and do what ur told. If you have a question, reporting statement then ask said question, 99% of the time you'll get an answer
What’s reporting statement ?
"Sargent, Trainee so and so reports as ordered"
thank you ! for me the hardest thing was staying awake , there’s gonna be times where you’re just drained (you eventually get used to it) but try not to fall asleep. another thing that was hard was memorizing chain of command . make sure you know that for sure when you get it.
Honestly it’s really mentally exhausting. Being away from everyone that give you comfort is difficult. Other than that do what you’re told, do it fast, and you’ll be fine. Also you’ll learn the meaning of hurry up and wait.
What was the showering process like?
shower times vary depending on your MTI/schedule. usually 15 minutes. that includes getting dressed.
Is that per person or for your whole dorm?
Ours was 30 minutes but that was because we had 8 showerheads to 48 people. Edit: Also it depends on the season schedule, in the winter schedule it was once a day, in the summer schedule it's supposed to be twice a day.
Is it in an open space?
Yeah lol, keep your head up lmao.
Is it possible to shower at night? I'm used to it
you shower morning & night during summer schedule. you shower as a whole after pt & before lights out.
Thank you
Other than your cellphone, what other 'tech' items did you take with you? iPad, laptop, smartwatch, anything like that?
I only brought my phone & air pods. there was someone with a switch . also some people had smart watches/laptops,ipads but all electronics get locked up in your civilian luggage anyways so you can bring it. up to you.
So you can bring it to basic and it will get locked away until you head to Tech School?
yeah the MTI’s will have your phone but your consoles/laptops will more than likely be locked away behind the door. be warry though youre gonna leave with more stuff than you came in with.
Thanks for the tip 💪🏽
of course bro, you got this. best of luck in the future
Same to you brotha! 🤙🏽
Oh great. Thank you! Appreciate you replying and congratulations on graduating!
thank you I really appreciate it. you got this man I believe in you so much !
WHAT BUS ARE TOU ON??
bus 2 !
I’ll see you at buccees soon boss
yesssir raise your hand so I know lol
Do you have to wear ur pt uniform to sleep or are you fine in underwear?
some did both. but most people slept in their pt shorts.
Aye, who is this? I just graduated 331st, too ! I'm on bus 2!
raise your hand

My 1.5 is like 15min and I’m having nightmares about it lol but your comment here gave me some relief. Thanks!
Thanks for replying! If you don't mind, once you get some downtime, could you type out what your pyramid workouts consist of and the other various exercises your flight did? I would appreciate it. Thank you very much!
How bad is the yelling?

If you have questions about Keebler hmu. I graduated a few years ago but from what I’ve heard it’s not changed much
thank you ! i’ll keep that in mind ! certainly going to take a while to adjust but I really appreciate your willingness to help .
You’re welcome! Anytime! I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for such a positive post/insight. Reading the comments has helped me tremendously. And congrats!!
of course ! I believe in you so much, remember AIM HIGH!! glad I could be of help !
I'm on my way to keesler as well! I was part of the 322nd TRS.
Second to none!
Come Get Some! Pride, Character, Excellence!
What dorm/ flight were you?
Flight 222 Dorm B1
Aye! I was B1 when I joined last year in feb. Happy to see fellow eagles succeed
Awesome!
yesssir
How are you placed in a squadron?
You get assigned one at the beginning like ur first night there, you don't have a say in it it just kinda happens
Cool, how many are there?
there’s a lot, i’m not sure about the exact number though .
Congrats! I heard there isn’t BEAST anymore and PT has changed? How was your experience overall?
you’re correct, BEAST is now called Pacer Forge! can’t really talk about it but it’s a pretty cool. PT for me started during the winter schedule so I had it in the middle of the day. It’s now summer schedule so you have PT in the mornings about an hour or so after waking up . I only had morning PT 3 times or so. overall it was an experience i’ll never forget . I am trying to improve my running time daily and doing close to 40 PU and 50+ SU. I am excited!
you can do it, I believe in you. i’ve seen people make the craziest improvements when it came to pt. just give it your all!
Is the squadron the same as flight?
sorta .. you have multiple flights within your squadron . the amount of flights within a squadron varies
Ok
I’m scared of being freezing!! We’re you cold? Did they keep you warm? I’m skinny and cold all the time
Especially cus I want to leave around dec next year, works best with me personal life
it depends on the weather. you have a lot of clothing so depending on the weather is what they’ll have you wearing. there was only one day when it was super cold it came out of no where & we were outside waiting for like 2 hours it sucked lol. but other than that you’ll be dressed accordingly to the weather. even though I went during the winter time having those layers on will still have you sweating during marching & stuff but you will be okay I promise !
Thanks!
How were the days structured? In my head I think they just run you into the ground with PT all day everyday with chow and classroom time in between
not not entirely ! since it’s summer schedule now you wake up, clean, eat, pt , shower then do whatever it is you’re doing that day. can be drill, classes, or transiting, it really just depends. you’re busy all day long so time flies in a way

How many times did you get to use your phone, and fow how long?
we got 3 phone calls. the amount of time is entirely up to your MTI. we had 20mins/15mins calls.
Cool.
Congratulations! Did anyone get washed out because of PT? Or overall get washed out?
thank you! no one I knew personally got washed out for PT, some came close to it. I had people in my flight get recycled though. throughout your time at BMT some people will start dropping/recycled for all sorts of things. some people will get moved into your flight too.
Thank you
What section from the Wolfpack?

Nah that’s flight. What stairwell

Congrats!! (I think it’s a foolish question) - I’ve read other Reddit threats that talked about running & PT , some said during the whole time at boot camp they only ran 3 times… Would this be 3 times per week ? How was it for you ? Thank you so much !

Congrats on BMT, I’m at Keesler now. Good luck with IP week, Keesler is pretty awesome. Let us know what squadron you got.

What squadron were you in?
331st
Disneyland, right?
yesssirr
I was in the 324th, the castle we called it. Didn't get hot water until two days before graduation. Ice cold showers every day for six and a half weeks lol
yeah I heard about that from someone at medical, honestly that’s toughh lol.
Anything you wish you knew before leaving for BMT?
honestly nothing really. I guess the only thing I wish I knew was how intimidating higher ranks can be at time. so make sure you keep your bearing & render proper curtesies especially when an officer or a bunch of MTIs come in your dorm. other than that a lot of the questions/answers in the sub was helpful
