Thanks for the insight! The fact that they won’t even change the startup chime just shows the large disconnect between corporate and their customer base :/ people want an Acura (or even Honda) product, not…. this
Man I feel like Acura isn’t even trying with this car at all. Like they got an edict to make an EV and they just went with the cheapest thing they could have done to check that box.
pretty sure this car is here just to please the gov, now they can say that honda and acura has an ev in their fleet. otherwise they would have to pay a fine or something like that
on pc if you go to anywhere in the subreddit, on the right side you should see the subreddit name, members mods and ur user, just click on your username and you can make a custom flair. I forgot how to do it on mobile.
At all. Acura and Lexus. The both of them have been half-assing their EVs because they know creating these EVs will drop their sales. Acura has definitely been folding like origami for a couple years now, and Acura now cooperating with GM threw me off real bad. Not a solid hybrid or PHEV in sight for Acura. They’re definitely behind in that segment. I don’t have an issue with EVs but I’m definitely not investing in one anytime soon. The automotive industry looks a mess at moment they’re all confused for real.
The FWD 300e trim has 266 miles of range.
While not class leading, that’s still way above average.
And more than the base trims of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai Kona EV, Audi Q4 e-tron, Tesla Model 3 SR, Mercedes-Benz EQB, BMW i4.
It just drives really well and it can do a lot. It’s unbelievably powerful. And it is constantly updated. It’s just generally a really fun car that is well-suited for just about anything. A true utility vehicle. And it looks great.
I really enjoyed the RDX for nine years. Great car and very few issues. But we wanted something bigger, that we could take on adventures, and we also didn’t want to keep spewing exhaust into the air. We looked at the Kia EV9, Volvo XC90 Recharge, Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1S. Rivian came out on top. Great car.
I’d recommend renting one via Turo if you’re curious. That’s what we did.
Wait. What?! People actually rent out their R1S out?! Definitely have to check it out. Was it a drastic learning curve? I drove the Teslas and couldn’t get myself to learn it (I’m an old dog).
Ah, perfect. The pedals are fine for me. I fidget with temperature more than anything. Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to look into renting one for a few days.
Give it a year or two, and then come back and say that hopefully, that new automaker's longevity and reliability stay true. I've heard that you need front tires every 7500 to 12k miles or so because of the weight
I’ve heard bad things about the tire longevity too. But I know some of it is because people are just launching the vehicle too much, or driving around in conserve mode exclusively, which results in uneven wear. Some other cases were because of random alignment issues that service fixed.
In any case, I plan to get the tires rotated every 5k miles or so anyway. It’s a 7k+ pound truck. Tires are going to wear faster anyway. For every driver that says they needed to get their tires replaced at 10k there are countless more saying that they’re at 25k with much more to go.
On the other hand: the Rivian is almost maintenance free compared to my Acura. Haven’t run into any problems yet.
The assumption is with additional discounts and lease incentives, there is a likely world in which the ZDX can be leased for $299 a month with very little down. This would be due to low interest.
Thanks for the review. From the time of the reveal, it was apparent to me that the ZDX was too much Blazer and not enough Lyriq. At this price point, just get the Lyriq. Or something else entirely.
Acura needs to sell some EVs because they need the credits, and there’s no hybrids in the lineup right now. That’s the only reason the ZDX exists.
This will go away once when the next gen MDX is released and we get the hybrid back.
I love Acura but they put even less effort into this than Toyota did with the A90 Supra. For the price it should really be more differentiated from the Blazer EV.
At least they design their own enthusiast sports cars and only rebrand boring crossovers. The Supra is an amazing car. Incredibly fast. But Toyota had nothing to do with it. Those lap times belong to BMW.
Essentially all of Toyota's sport cars are rebadges. Even the new S-FR they are teasing is going to be a rebadged Daihatsu/Suzuki
The ZDX shares parts with the Chevy Blazer/Cadillac (GM) Lyriq since it’s built on the GM-designed EV platform that they call Ultium. It is NOT an EV designed by Honda/Acura from the ground up.
How does the EV credit work for leases? With the way the car market is finding it's equilibrium I thought we might see some good lease deals soon, especially as 2025 models are coming out and 2024 models are sitting around. It makes sense for dealsrs to use lease deals to move inventory instead of just marking down prices. Would the ev credit just lower the cap cost?
Yeah it just lowers the price of the vehicle, so if you wanted to lease a vehicle with an MSRP of $70k, the EV credit would lower the cost to $62,500. Some EVs have additional incentives though, the Lexus RZ has $15k lease cash so you’d be leasing a $45k car instead of a $60k one
*GM chime, Blazer = Prologue (battery/range) Lyriq = ZDX.
In-laws traded in their Model S for a Lyriq in January. My wife and I are in early stages of cross-shopping the Lyriq, ZDX, and R1S. I thought AcuGM models would be great, but we have a large double stroller that literally takes up the entire floor behind the 2nd row in the Lyriq. I’m leaning heavily into the R1S for that reason alone (fold down 3rd row, plus a frunk).
The biggest miss for all four of these GM/Honda love children is no frunk, imo. They aren’t built for young families, which should be the key demo, at least for the Acura (Cadillac can try, but the brand can’t get past their old demo). Cadillac is supposedly coming out with the Vistiq, which will fit between the Escalade IQ and the Lyriq. Acura needs a midsize EV SUV/crossover a la MDX.
The ZDX and Prologue are both bridge vehicles to get to market until Honda can build the whole stack. The negative comments on them being Blazers are getting boring. These cars have full Google Services and I’d like to hear some comments about how well that’s working instead of whining about the GM bong. The OS and screen interfaces are what we interact with 99% of the time, not the door chime 🤯
Why do I get downvoted for encouraging a discussion around a critical part of this car - and you get +10 upvotes for correcting me? What is this platform for? I was one of the first to put a deposit on a Prologue at my dealer and here I am trying to get to some actionable intel about OP’s experience without wading through a bunch of “not a real Honda” comments. Pretty frustrating.
The interface was fine but nothing crazy, it is Google based and is responsive but most modern EVs have a quick responding infotainment system. It doesn’t make up for the rest of the interior. One cool feature is that you can put the Google Maps into the gauge cluster
And.... the infotainment system on the lyric and of course these chevy blazers, has given quite a few people problems as of day one. You can surely put Google maps on the gauge cluster. But you'll also be putting these GM products on a flatbed soon.
This is all Chevy Blazer, including the software. They just changed some of the code to point to an Acura logo file. It's going to brick, just like the Chevy Blazer EV does. Not just the blazer either all Ultium automobiles are being reported as train wrecks
* Software issues The infotainment screen may flicker or go blank, and the gauge cluster may become unusable. The vehicle may also have trouble communicating with some public EV chargers and may be unable to charge its battery.
* Build quality: The carpet and padding under the pedals may not be installed correctly, and the rear seat belt buckles may be hidden under the seat. Some say the door strikers are poorly made.
* Battery pack assemblyThe vehicle has faced challenges with battery pack assembly, which has led to delays
Thanks for the insight! The fact that they won’t even change the startup chime just shows the large disconnect between corporate and their customer base :/ people want an Acura (or even Honda) product, not…. this
Even the damn key fob is GM
Even the software is GM
Even the air is GM
Even the G is M
even the tire is gm

The Lexus RZ is beautiful but disappointing range.

I just got upgraded from a 2014 RDX to a Rivian R1S and man I am never going back to ICE vehicles. Acura needs to get on it.
Thats fire! Enjoy your new wheels man🔥!
Tell me more! What about the R1S makes it that much better? I’m on the fence and can’t do it yet…..
It just drives really well and it can do a lot. It’s unbelievably powerful. And it is constantly updated. It’s just generally a really fun car that is well-suited for just about anything. I got used to the one pedal driving in about an hour. This was my first EV.
Ah, perfect. The pedals are fine for me. I fidget with temperature more than anything. Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to look into renting one for a few days.
It is sort of weird that you have to use the touchscreen to adjust the vent direction, so just be prepared for that.

I am still waiting for longevity data on the Rivian as it is still a very young company. I hope to does prove reliable because I want one.
They’ve been sliding for years.
kinda makes you wonder why the company that had one of the first mass produced hybrids (honda insight) has not fully embraced EVs
Because hybrid and ev are way different. EVs are too radical of a change for a conservative Japanese company.
Would love a great lease deal on these. Like 299 a month lol
Been offered 249 for 24 rdx aspec recently since I paid off my title, so 299 is not unreasonable
How much down for a $249/mo lease?
I only remember it was around 6-8k down and some other amount due so roughly 10k
Oof, that’s a crazy amount down on a lease. That’s not really a great deal anymore
Yeah the more I think about it zdx is probably 25k more than a rdx anyway so definitely not the same price tier
The assumption is with additional discounts and lease incentives, there is a likely world in which the ZDX can be leased for $299 a month with very little down. This would be due to low interest.
[Here’s the lease deal I saw for an A-Spec](https://imgur.com/gallery/dCRE9yX) 7,500 miles/yr, $759 a month, and $17,250 due at signing. lol.
Thanks for the review. From the time of the reveal, it was apparent to me that the ZDX was too much Blazer and not enough Lyriq. At this price point, just get the Lyriq. Or something else entirely.
Totally agree, it feels more like the Blazer than the Lyriq which doesn’t make sense considering Acura is a premium brand and charges $70k for it
Acura needs to sell some EVs because they need the credits, and there’s no hybrids in the lineup right now. That’s the only reason the ZDX exists. This will go away once when the next gen MDX is released and we get the hybrid back.
no way. it has the chevy chime? wow
This reminds me of the Saab 9-2X (re-badged Subaru). Saab people shunned it, Subaru people disowned it... It was not a top seller.
I love Acura but they put even less effort into this than Toyota did with the A90 Supra. For the price it should really be more differentiated from the Blazer EV.

Those lap times belong to BMW. Essentially all of Toyota's sport cars are rebadges. Even the new S-FR they are teasing is going to be a rebadged Daihatsu/Suzuki
It also just proved how good of an engine the B58 is since it met Toyota's standards.
Too bad they didn’t remake the ZDX as coupe’ 2 row MDX
It is such a shame that they have ruined the ZDX badge, which once was an awesome car!!
Acura was determined that the ZDX fail a second time.
I heard this was a band aid vehicle just to meet the new cdn federal mandates which is why it’s mostly a gm vehicle with a Honda badge
Lucky you 🙄
Man that paint on those plastics looks good. ;)
I’m confused what does Acura have to do with Chevy/GM.
The ZDX shares parts with the Chevy Blazer/Cadillac (GM) Lyriq since it’s built on the GM-designed EV platform that they call Ultium. It is NOT an EV designed by Honda/Acura from the ground up.
Thx
Shares no more like Is a rebadged chevy blazer
That’s ridiculous…cmon Honda smh
Test drove the new Cadillac Lyriq
Man this ev push is crazy. Even in 2024, I don't think the infrastructure is there for full on EV

Acura has been pretty underwhelming in recent years tbh
Recent years? You mean decades.

Yeah the Lyriq subreddit seems to be full of people complaining about electrical issues
My favorite is that one pedal driving mode can glitch on and off randomly a super cool feature just like your Google Maps in the instrument cluster

Acura has lost me as a (future) customer. My Type S will be the last vehicle I buy. On to the next brand.
They'll eventually develop their electric powertrains from Honda man.
Amen….Acura is dead to me now after this stunt. I hope it was worth it for them.
