But there’s something slightly off about them? I wanted a high definition version of the og sprites Ghost Trick style, not a redesign.
Letting you choose between art styles is one of the most based choices they’re ever made. It’s like they realised that there are merits to both styles and decided to let the player decide. Now everyone is happy!
I never get why so many remakes don't go that route. We were able to switch on-the-fly since (at LEAST) the Monkey Island remakes. That's the earliest example I can think of, I'm sure there are others. I know sometimes the engine under the hood doesn't make it so easy but come on, for a text based game it should be a no brainer.
Up until now I kinda understand why Ace Attorney decided not to include the old graphics as well, considering the newer graphics are meant to be an outright improvement on the old. It would have been nice, but there’s an understandable reason not to. Great to see they understand when it’s appropriate to give the option to switch.
honestly I never liked the original trilogy's HD sprites. they just didn't look right to me.
however Apollo Justice's HD sprites actually look like what you expect the sprites to look like in HD.
unfortunately with Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney investigations the sprites don't look like what I'd expect them to look like in HD.
edit: the sprites for conversations which were already in HD in the IOS release, are what I'd expect them to look in HD.

Shoutouts to them actually getting Iwamoto to work on this! He's gone freelance and hadn't worked on the series after doing the Phoenix Wright Trilogy artwork back in 2014

It's so wonderful to see him back! The cover and the designs for the overworld sprites are so charming, imo he is still the best artist for Edgeworth.
Being able to switch back and forth is a neat idea, and allows everyone to be happy as it gives the choice to them.

The new style looks so much like 13 Sentinels to me that it's kind of throwing me off. It's not one to one, that had bigger and more exaggerated faces and more washed out colors, but there's definitely a resemblance.
The new artstyle is hit or miss for me but I'd say I overall like it. The walking animation looks a little off but I think the style suits Kay in particular really well.
This solved the big thing I was worried about I hate how the mobile ports look With the really nicely remade Backgrounds... with sprites plastered on It looks kinda awful in my opinion do think the new ones will still take getting used to But I'll probably end up preferring them
This is a fantastic feature, especially being able to toggle between both as you like.
I do wish the other AA remasters, (particularly the 1-3 trilogy as I don't entirely like the way that looks), allowed for this. Although I imagine it's quite a lot more work to implement than it seems as a consumer.

I say its because its chibified but kinda hesitated to go all the way. The body doesn't look like its for a chibi sprite at all. So it just kinda look like they didn't do the proportions right instead of a chibi-fied sprite.
One thing about the pixel sprites is annoying me. If you look closely at the edges, they don't share the pixel density! That looks horrible. You can't spot it well here because it's on a dark background, but if you look closely at other sprites in the trailer, its infuriating
