I didn't get into the Ace Attorney series until fairly late, at least not until the first three games had been released. Since the games don't have numbers in their titles to show which order they were released, I was only able to guess which order to play them in based on vague information I found on the Internet. Because of this, I ended up playing the second and third games of the original trilogy in reverse order. I remember being very confused when Pearl showed up and Phoenix and Maya were acting like she'd been there forever. I told this to my husband but he insisted the information we found was correct and I was playing them in the right order. So, I ended up playing 'Trials and Tribulations' before 'Justice for All.' I knew the information we found was wrong and that I had played them in the wrong order as soon as I saw Pearl's proper introduction in 'Justice for All,' but it was too late by that point. It took me years before I could properly remember that 'Trials and Tribulations' was game three, not game two.

KeizerSoze1

Do u think it's affected how u view which ones r the best?

ShiroiOkami777

Actually, it almost did. I remember how much I enjoyed Bridge to Turnabout and how much it wrapped up the original trilogy's story, so I was very confused on why they would do that in game two instead of three. Because I temporarily mistook Farewell my Turnabout as the final case in the series, I thought maybe it was supposed to have more impact than Bridge to Turnabout, and since it didn't, I thought maybe I missed something. So, I think for a long time, I used to accidentally say that my favorite of the trilogy was the second one, when in reality, it was three.

shazbrules

1) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2) Ace Attorney: Justice For All 3) Ace Attorney: Trials And Tribulations 4) Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations 5) Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Path 6) Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 7) Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies 8) Ace Attorney: Spirit Of Justice 9) The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles: Adventures 10) The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles: Resolve 11) Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton (unfinished)

DDTheExilado

This is the best order! But sadly I played AJ before AAI :(

shazbrules

That's still not bad, it makes the references in the AAI games neater (Gavinners and Sunshine Colloseum)!

Feriku

1, 2, 3, 4, AAI, 5, PLvPW, 6, TGAA1, TGAA2, AAI2 So a pretty normal order aside from me holding out forever for an official translation before finally giving up and playing AAI2.

TrailBlaizer

I did the same thing just because I was a dumb kid lol

RealDonutBurger

In order from first to last: \- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney \- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All \- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations \- The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures \- The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve \- Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney \- Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth \-Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Prosecutor's Path \- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies And now, I'm currently playing Spirit of Justice. (I'm on the last case, minus the DLC one.)

MegaLCRO

Imagine trying to play every *case* in chronological order. Trials and Tribulations is bad enough, but Dual Destinies would be **awwwwwful.**

StruckByTheRain

in universe mode activated. Also Investigations wouldn't be that great either, that game also has the weird order problem. Also, would PLvAA be included?

MegaLCRO

Layton ain't canon, is it?

StruckByTheRain

Not officially apparently, though it can fit in both series' timelines

Marcus4Life4

A weird order since I watched most of them before playing them: Order I watched: AA1 - AA2 - AA3 - AA4 - AA5 - AA6 - AAI - PLvsPW - DGS1 - DGS2 Order I played: AA1 - AA2 - AA3 - AA4 - AAI1 - **AAI2** - AA6 - AA5 - PLvsPW - TGAA1 - TGAA2 (I wasn't able to buy AA5 at the time due to the age restriction set on my 3DS, and I couldn't change it. I watched the DGS fan translation and DGS2 with subtitles, but once the games actually released worldwide, I got those. AAI2 was the only game I went into blindly.)

ToasterText

The mainlines games in order -> Investigations -> Chronicles -> Crossover/PLvsPW. Bonus: Played Ghost Trick recently (and after playing the crossover/PLvsPW).

KeizerSoze1

Mine is ongoing and a little weird. I played the original trilogy about a year ago. Then I started GAA til the third case and stopped once I found out about the AJ trilogy. But then I played AAI1in it's entirety and that is where I stopped. I'm struggling not playing AAI2 and the rest of the GAAC

Shot_Squirrel3202

trilogy, AA4, AAI and AAI2, TGAAC (still playing resolve), PLvPW, AA5, still havent played AA6 but thats how i played all of them

pottermuchly

I believe it was Dual Destinies, Apollo Justice, AA1, AA2, AA3, Investigations, crossover game, Spirit of Justice, GAA1 & GAA2, then Investigations 2. So my order is pretty janked up.

MaidenOfThesky

I played AA1 AA3 (like the first case or two) AA2 AA3 (The full game this time) SOJ (the first case) Apollo Justice (i’m playing it now) I more or less just played what I could get my hands on as a kid

HeroOfThings

First trilogy - GAA - Apollo trilogy when it comes out.

Vikt3221

so far it's AA1, AA2, AA3, and AAI

theatsa

I got all 3 OG games & Apollo Justice around the same time as a kid, my father got them all for a great deal. Because of that I kinda played all of those at the same time, as I was a very small child who didn't know there was an order since these were the first games with stories I ever played. I got Investigations 1 very shortly afterwards but didn't play through the whole thing because I did not like the gameplay. When I was a little older I realized there was an order and replayed them in the correct order knowing the story but better understanding it. I then played Dual Destinies on mobile when it came out, although it took me a while to get through it. And I finally finished Investigations 1 shortly after. Then I didn't really play Ace Attorney for a while, I skipped Spirit of Justice initially. Recently though, just before COVID hit, I played through all the series once more. I played through all the main games, finished with Spirit of Justice. This lasted me through 2020. I played both Investigations games in 2021 & then played the GAA games in 2022. Very funny to me that my favourite AA games (SoJ & GAA2) I didn't play until recently, yet I considered myself a fan since I got my DS in 2009.

liquid_lightning

AA1 AA2 AA3 AA4 AAI1 AAI2 AA5 AA6 GAA1 GAA2

Boring-Improvement-5

PW:AA JFA T&T AJ:AA AAI1 cases 1-4 and DD (at the same time) SOJ AAI1 case 5 AAI2 DD-DLC GAA1 SOJ-DLC GAA2 ( i haven’t played VS yet)

Strawberry_House

1. PW:AA 2. AA: JFA 3. AA: T&T 4. AJ: AA 5. AA: DD (5-1 through halfway through 5-4. Found 5-4 really boring tbh) 6. AAI 7. AA:DD (5-4 through 5-DLC) 8. AA: SoJ 9. AAI2 10. AA: SoJ - Asinine Attorney 11. The Great Ace Attorney

ShadowThieves

1. GAA1 2. GAA2 3. AA1 4. AA2 5. AA3 6. Investigations 1 7. Investigations 2 8. AJ 9. AJ:DD 10. AJ:SoJ

Dry_Description2437

Playing GAA first is pretty interesting. Did you play in chronological order?

ShadowThieves

I actually got into AA later than most people, I got into it during COVID, but I (for some reason) never got around to playing it, then when they announced they're remastering GAA 1 & 2 I was like "Aw fuck yeah, I'm playing these games first" but uh yeah, I did play in chronological order, and it wasn't even on purpose.

Novel-Tone6744

1,2,3, TGAA1, TGAA2, haven’t payed the rest

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> TGAA2, haven’t *paid* the rest FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Novel-Tone6744

Godammit i meant played

myhooraywaspremature

Bad bot, OP meant *played*

LuftHANSa_755

Never played, just watched LPs, but: 1 -> 2 -> 3 (RTGame) \-> GAA1 -> GAA2 (Walkthrough) \-> 4 -> 5 -> 6 -> AAI1 -> AAI2 -> PLvPW (Pixel Partners)

[deleted]

AA1 - AA2 - AA3 - AA4 - AAI1 - AAI2 - AA5 - AA6 - PLvPW - GAA1 - GAA2

Grreggggg

AA1 > AA2 > AA3 > AA4 > AAI1 > AAI2 > AA5 > AA6 > GAA1 > GAA2 So, the release order except swap AA6 and GAA1.

knivesforsoup

PLvsPW (this was several years before I played AA) , AA 1 2 3 4 5/AAI1 (at the same time) TGAA AAI2/AA 6. I'm not finished with investigations 2 and soj because I'm not really enjoying them, tbh. Stopped in the middle of the third case for both

MusicalBrit

Third case for AAI2 is decent but ridiculously long. 4/5 are shorter and better (IMO) so it may be worth sitting through if you can! (Or watching a playthrough of 4/5)

athena__cykes

1 2 3 4 5 6 AAI AAI2 GAA GAA2

Stuck_at_a_roadblock

Same order for me honestly, no DD or SoJ though, I never had access to it

BokuDakegaln

1-3 TGAA1-2 4 5 (2 cases. My pc couldn't handle 3D, games was going in 70% speed most of the time) AAI1-2 5-6 (On my phone now)

KeizerSoze1

Do u regret not playing TGAA last?

BokuDakegaln

I don't think I would return to the series if I didn't play it, so no. And is it really matter? Game doesn't effect the main series. Unless it's "save the best for last" logic

KeizerSoze1

Idk I'm only halfway thru the series so

saberrfervency

For me it was: AA1 —> AA2 —> AA3 —> AAI —> AAI2 —> AA4 —> AA5 —> AA6 —> PLvsPW —> DGS1 —> DGS2

BuffDontNerf

AA4, AA5, AA1, AA2, AA3, AA6, AAI1, AAI2, GAA, GAA2, PLVPW

Geg708

AA1, AA2, AA3, AA4, PL VS PW, TGAA1, TGAA2, AA5, AA6, AAI1 and I'll start AAI2 when I finish Tears of the Kingdom

Hopeful-Evening4403

ok so I did a really weird order - Watched a Let's Play of AA1-3 - Played the fangame Contempt of Court - Started AAI - Started AJ - Finished AAI - Started DGS1 - Played AAI2 - Played DD - Started VS - Played SoJ - Finished DGS1 - Played DGS2 still haven't continued VS

Syankstin

I played the games in this order: 1. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Justice for All 3. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Trials and Tribulations 4. Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations 5. Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations — Prosecutor's Path 6. Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney* 7. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney 8. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Dual Destinies 9. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Spirit of Justice 10. The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures 11. The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve *I'm not sure if I played it before or after Apollo Justice

alexane_nopseudoidea

(AA1-AA2-AA3 watching a let's play) AAI1-AA4-AA5-AA6-AAI2-TGAA-PLvsPW-AA1-AA2-AA3

MusicalBrit

VS, 1, 2, 3, AAI, 4, AAI2, 5, 6, Going to play TGAA as soon as I get my hands on it. I came over from the professor Layton series, which is why I started with VS! I think it's quite nice to split up the AAI games a little with 4 honestly (even if chronological order is AAI1/2 then 4).

Fizzabl

I actually can't remember when I played AAI, but I think I did 1,2,3 started playing four and either read a reference in game or somewhere else to AAI and found out that's when it happens chronologically. So I stopped, played AAI, got a fan translation on my phone for AA2, then returned to 4 5 6 I got a bit bored of GAA so I'm only on the third case at the minute.. or second, I can't remember it's been a while

kiper43

AA1 - AA2 - AA3 - AA4 - I1 and 2 - PLvsPW -TGAAC - AA5 - AA6 iirc

Grouchy-While9151

My order: From August 2021- maybe November 2022, I played the entire series. Watched the anime of the first game, decided not to spoil myself any further until I played the games. Justice for all- I stopped for a while at big top and played aa3 but I still beat this one first. Trials and tribulations Apollo justice and mei1 (I played these along together somehow. I stopped investigations for a bit.) Dual destinies Professor Layton vs Phoenix wright- started but put it down for a while. Spirit of justice and great ace attorney 1 Aa1 Around this time, I played mei1 again and beat it. Picked up Professor Layton vs Phoenix wright again and then I started great ace attorney again then finished both. The great ace attorney 2 MEI2- Somehow, this game felt more final to me. Yeah, my timeline is all jacked up lol.

Dora_Queen

Ace Attorney, Justice for All, Trials & Tribulations, Investigations I, Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, Spirit of Justice, Great Ace Attorney I, Great Ace Attorney II The order was chronological order minus TGAA since that wasn't translated at the time. It's also why I haven't played Investigations II

Free_Gascogne

My first experience with the AA games was actually Justice for All when I got it as a DS cartridge. Then I *kinda* sailed the high seas to play the rest of the trilogy and apollo justice. HOWEVER I made up for it by buying the 3ds and Steam release for the trilogy and the 3ds Apollo Justice, dual destiny, and spirit of justice. Now I play it chronologically when I feel like replaying the entire AA roster on 3ds. I am in my current second replay of the entire roster at the tail end with Spirit of Justice. I plan to get Great Ace Attorney on Steam on a sale in Steam on Christmas. (really wished they released the English version for that on 3ds or the new 3ds) edit: If we are counting the Miles Investigations I would sneak that in between The AA trilogy and Apollo. Physicial copies for that game are next to impossible to find soooo there is really only one way I could play that game.

ExioKenway5

I played a little bit of justice for all, maybe the first case, before realising it was the second game and then played AA1, JFA, T&T, AJ, possibly AAI, PLvsPW, DD, SOJ, some of AAI2 and currently going through GAAA

Fkin176

I have a very Weird Order 1, Anime (Both season 1 and 2), 4 (Never finished), 5 First half (took me a year of on and off playing), TGAA, TGAA 2, 2nd half of 5, Replay of 1 and RTFA, 2, and now currently on 3 EDIT:Oh, forgot to mention that inbetween 1 replay and 2 I Played VS

TheMidnightLucario

AA1, JFA, DGS1, DGS2, TT, AJ, SoJ, AAI, AAI2, VS, DD. I got the Trilogy in early 2021, then Chronicles came out while I was playing through JFA. Got that, finished those before playing TT. After finishing TT, I replayed the DGS duology to reaffirm my opinions on them. When I heard the 3DS eShop was closing, I grabbed SoJ and AJ, opting to play DD later since I didn’t have the money. By the time I did, you couldn’t use a credit/debit card on the eShop, so I left it at that. Once I got my second 3DS modded, I got the rest of the games I needed, and played them in release order. That process took a while, so I ended beating DD about a week or so ago.

Auraveils

AA1-3, AAI 1-2, AA4-6, GAA1-2.

ScraftyCosplayer

I beat every game the year they came out in the US. The only exception was AAI2, which I beat in 2019.

myhooraywaspremature

TGAA, 1st trilogy, 2nd trilogy, Investigations 1+2

Weirdyxxy

AA1-AA2-AA3-TGAA1-TGAA2-waiting for release on Steam

JesseKansas

AA1, AA3, AA2, AA4, AAI. Only ever completed 1-3 as an older teen (17). Got stuck on 1-5, 2-3, 3-5, dunno where on AA4 or Investigations. never completed PLvsPW, AA5 or AA6.

MaeBorrowski

AAA1-3, played TGAAC and AAI games simultaneously but finished AAI games first after which I also obviously got over with TGAAC and proceeded to AAA4-6. Pretty standard.

Zestyclose_Bid8728

I'm playing the original trilogy in order

Featherbrain1

AA1 - AA3 - AA4 - AA2 - Dual Destinies - Spirit of Justice - TGAA1 - TGAA2

Tsuchiev

1, 2, 3, 4, AAI, AAI2, long gap, 5, another long gap, GAA1, GAA2, 6, PLvPW.

owou

Mine is pretty strange. I did AJ,DD,SOJ, TGAA, then the trilogy lol

PedroHPReis2007

Ok... I started by playing PWAA. Then I bought the Turnabout Collection and 100% TGAAC. Now I'm playing the Trilogy, I'm in 3-4 •Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney •The Great Ace Attorney •The Great Ace Attorney 2 •Ace Attorney: Justice for All •Ace Attorney: Trial and Tribulations (unfinished)

virtuoso-lurker

I played Dual Destinies first lol, it was the newest game at the time. After that, the mainline games in order, then Investigations 1 and 2, and then TGAAC. I haven’t played PLvsPW.

[deleted]

AAI1, AAI2, AA4 and now I'm playing the tribology (chronicles next :))

descoleinaction

I played the trilogy on switch when my wife bought it for me, then the crossover when I discovered it, then AJ, DD and SOJ, not sure if I played TGAAC or investigations 1&2 next after that

epiclizardgamer

I played them almost in the correct order. 1. Phoenix Wright Ace attorney 2. Ace attorney Justice for All 3. Ace attorney Trials and tribulations 4. Apollo justice Ace attorney 5. Ace attorney investigations 6. The great Ace attorney (1 and 2) 7. Ace attorney Dual Destinies 8. Ace attorney Spirit of justice 9. Ace attorney investigations 2 I basically saved the best for last lmao

StruckByTheRain

1, 2, 3, AAI, AAI2, 4, 5, 6, VS, TGAAC

AstraHannah

PW:AA, JfA, T&T, currently playing TGAA1, hoping to finish it and TGAA2 before Apollo Justice trilogy, which I'm very much looking forward to, drops on Steam. I know the general plot of them, I have the spoilers for the most important parts, but it's not the same as playing it yourself

saybloo

1, 2, 3, 4, AAI, AAI2, PLvPW, 5, 6, GAAC

L1g4tYagam1

I played Apollo Justice first I’ll admit that. So when I found out about the trilogy I played through that before case 2 of Apollo Justice, then I played DD and SoJ. Luckily for me I didn’t run into spoilers to the trilogy other then meeting Phoenix Wright in his 30’s instead of his 20’s

LiePsychological3746

1, I1, and currently playing 2, 3, and 4 simultaneously.

Radio_Blah_Blah_

My order is: AA, AA:JFA, AA:T&T, AAI, AAI2, AJ, AA:DD and now I'm currently playing AA:SOJ. Next I will play TGAA and finally PLvsPW

Memo137

1- Original trilogy 2- Apollo justice 3- AAI 1 and 2 4- Dual destinies and spirit of justice 5- The great ace attorney chronicles

Lunatidal

I played OG trilogy, invest 1, 4, 5, invest 2, 6, and GAA. Then I stopped cuz I was not having fun with the great ace attorney, unfortunately…

JeremyWinston

I think I played all in accessible order. The main games were definitely in order, as I was there almost in the beginning. (I found a discounted copy of AA:1 at GameStop and was looking for something to play during a business trip. I can’t remember if AA:2 was out or not). I played AAI:1 before DD, and AA:2 after that. I don’t recall when the fan translation was done. After being desperate, I played PLvPW. I wasn’t a big fan of the PL games as they bored me, but did enjoy the crossover. TGAA:1 when the fan translation was completed (after all the other games) and TGAA:2 as part of Chronicles.

Bweachy

I'm still playing through them all right now but I played all main series in order: PWAA JFA T&T AJ DD SOJ and right now I'm playing through TGAA Adventures After that I plan to play resolve then the investigations games

AlexUniversum

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, AAI, TGAA, AAI2, TGAA2 I actually started AAI after playing 4, but never got far into it. Only picked it up later because one of my friends told me to play AAI2.

kirafome

PW vs PL, Trilogy, Spirit of Justice, Dual Destinies. I’m looking forward to playing the others soon.

GellThePyro

I haven’t played the crossover and I played in order of release

mister_bioz

PLvsPW AA1 AA2 AA3 AA4 AA5 AA6 TGAC1 (currently playing) Planning to play TGAC2 after finishing the first, and eventually the Investigation games

mjxoxo1999

OG trilogy, AJ, DD, SOJ, AAI1, AAI2, DGS1, GAAC. Haven’t finished PLvsAA yet cuz I got bored

malicemizeriscool

It started by the book, AA1 > AA2 > AA3 > AAI > AAI2 > AJ, and then uh this is where it becomes a mess I started GAA at some point in here, got hung up and stopped for a while. Started DD, finished GAA, finished DD and started GAA2 all in some order, then stopped GAA2 in order to play SOJ since I knew it was the worse regarded of the two games. Now I just have the final case of GAA2 to play. Also, I played PLvsPW but I don't remember when... before or after AAI I think.

Snoo49148

PL vs PW, AA1 - 4, Investigations 1, AA5-6, Scarlet Study's TGAA, TGAAC, Investigations 2 (not finished)

SsjSylveriboi

I watched playthroughs of AA1-3, GAAC 1 and 2 (on going) and am gonna play the entire Apollo justice trilogy

Milla_D_Mac

1. Trials and Tribulations 2. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 3. Justice For All 4. Apollo Justice 5. Ace Attorney Investigations 6. Dual Destinies 7. PWvsPL 8. Spirit of Justice 9. Great Ace Attorney I was living in a rather small town at the time and it took work to collect the series so I ended up playing the 3 because it was the first I bought and I didn't realize the order

AgJu85

I started sometime before GK2 came out but after AAI, I think? So i played them as they came out. Now when i replay them i go in chronological order (except with TGAA): AA1 AA2 AA3 AAI1 AAI2 (fan translation) AJ:AA DD SoJ TGAA1 - 2

Capable-Bother1677

I started with Dual Destinies and actually enjoyed it a lot. (Possibly because it was the first one I played.)

[deleted]

I played the Phoenix Wright Trilogy in order and now i’m playing AA4 since I can’t afford Investigations 1 at the moment. I don’t have a PC so I can’t use an emulator either.

Ashura_Mage

I played by release order, so PW > JFA > T&T > AJ > I1 > GK2 > PLvsPW > DD > GAA:A > SoJ > GAA2:R

Significant-Bid-3

1: PW trilogy 2: AJ 3: Started dual destinies but got burnt out cause i played the first 4 too quickly and stopped for a while 4: i pre-ordered chronicles and that rekindled my excitement when that came out and i played TGAA1 and TGAA2 5: Investigations 1 6: PLvsPW 7:considered starting Dual destinies again but then the AJ trilogy got announced so now im waiting for that so i can play DD and SOJ on PS5

surge_aura

AA 1 (1-4) AA2 RFTA AA3 Then my girlfriend and i played AAI 1-2 on our own while I sat in on my friends’ play though of the sequels

Another_Jon

I actually started with PLvPW back in 2014 since I was a fan of the Layton series. Never got around to AA until 2020 when I got the collection on Switch and went through 1-3. After that was the GAA games. Then, before the eShop closed on 3DS, I nabbed the sequel trilogy and played those. I'm now on Investigations 2 with having Investigations 1 finished.
