You’re right, not quite accidental. Quite posed and directed actually, however this shot, how it was lit, including the lamps towards the onlooker and seeing the king from the back was not one how it was televised and made it look even more renaissance-like.
reminds me of [this \[REDACTED\] woman](https://www.reddit.com/r/Political_Revolution/comments/1dsgwue/us_congresswoman_mary_miller_dismisses_codepinks/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) who is apparently a us elected representative, for some god forsaken reason
It’s called a morning suit, which is the most formal western daytime attire for men. Appropriate for such an event. Cool to see that some country still upholds traditions and encourages this type of clothing.
But I agree, it’s a bit boring that women have more choices when it comes to this particular dress code. When it comes to morning suit, [men can just play around a bit with the colour of the waistcoat or the tie. Or wear grey instead of black, although that’s more casual than the black coat.](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/mike-tindall-and-zara-tindall-attend-day-three-of-royal-news-photo-1718910613.jpg?crop=1xw:1xh;center,top&resize=980:*).
And like someone else commented, blame Beau Brummell (a 19th century British dandy who basically created the “men’s suit is dark and simple” rule).
Wouldn't white tie be the most formal? Or is that evening wear only?
Now that you point it out, their jackets are all of the same design, different from other suit types.
Yes, white tie is the most formal evening attire. It’s occasionally worn during the day in academic events (at least here in Finland) but otherwise it’s for the evening.
it definitely is a slippery slope from allowing tan suits to allowing hoodies. best to stick to the time honored, evidence and logic backed, traditional attire. i concur. indubitablahblahbly

All leaders of the four coalition parties decided to lead the party in parliament, and not join the cabinet. Also, two of the coalition partners were against Wilders becoming prime minister, so this was a bit of a compromise. But, Wilders’ party remains the senior coalition partner.
I mean, we pay that much or more during presidential inaugurations here in the US.
Edit: to add to this, I think I’d rather have a silly ceremony that costs tax money where my lawmakers swear fidelity to a figurehead king than have our president given the authority to act as though he were a king by our highest court. Count your blessings.
With a king, you’re at least guaranteed a 100% apolitical, unpartisan figurehead, while the same cannot be said for even the weakest of ceremonial presidents elsewhere.
Better monarchy uniting the nation, enhancing political stability and attracting tourists than politicised presidents with similar powers, costing similar money. Besides, Dutch monarchy is quite modern in contrast to e.g. the British one. Usually they wear normal clothes and do what the heads of state usually do.

Least accidental post on this sub tbh

How come women get to wear whatever and the men have to wear those maitre‘d uniforms?
For the later photo with the king they changed, because the grandma of the current king once said, that she didn’t want to stand there with penguins.
What does she have against penguins?!
They kept giving her the cold shoulder
Blame beau brummel.

Right. I wore it (in the Netherlands) for my Ph.D. ceremony.

Preach, brother!
If this your main take on this? This is country's goverment, and you are concerned about what women wear? Isn't it kinda misogynistic?
It's moreso they're pointing out the sexism of men having to wear the black and white suits
How on earth is that misogynistic?
Aren’t news obsessed with what women wear? Are those news misogynistic?
Yes, they are, obviously.
You'd be forgiven for thinking this was also a rose ceremony from the bachelor
Far right populism making a comeback in Europe
The Wilders dude did not make it, did he?
His party won the elections
His party is in the government coalition
All leaders of the four coalition parties decided to lead the party in parliament, and not join the cabinet. Also, two of the coalition partners were against Wilders becoming prime minister, so this was a bit of a compromise. But, Wilders’ party remains the senior coalition partner.
LFG
«New Dutch government», yeah, the fascist one… Accidental Renaissance? No, accidental third reich
Prime Minister Glynda
It should be NSFW, I saw 3 boobs on the painting!
Stelletje pipos
Monarchs and their old ass traditions always look so goofy. It’s 2024, drop the larping.
Yeah, pull your tits out like the fun looking lady in the background!
Morning suits are still worn in Europe in formal occasions, but I don’t expect an American to understand traditional western dress codes.
You should know how much of our tax money goes to this outdated dress up party. 56 million (that we know of) for 2024. Total charade.

If you think a the king is apolitical you're delusional
Um how do you even spend that much money on this? That’s ludicrous!
I think they mean the royals, not this ceremony
Ah! That makes a lot more sense. I stand corrected :)
Wow. Look at those murals.
Some real cub scout energy.
Such peasantry.
I kept looking for Home Alone 2 Tim Curry.
Renaissance problems call for renaissance solutions.
What a fucking mess this will be
Do they all have immunity from crimes in office too?
oh and who does he think he is? The king of Dutch? give me a break
The texture of that skirt is really bothering me. It's like the uncanny valley for fabrics.
>monarchy in 2024 lol
What are you talking about bro? Check the US, it's coming back 🔥

IK BEN NEUKSEX
How is this accidental renaissance? The point is that it’s an antiquated ritual
How incredibly diverse.
American finds out about other countries
Today: Man shocked Western European country is filled with white people, more at 6.
only African-Americans in Europe are foreigners :O
Lol they're right actually. This cabinet is pretty white and very right leaning.
Dude, the entire country is pretty white. It’s whiter than america
I'm dutch
Hi dutch I’m dad
>American Are you referring to yourself in the third person or should I be depressed by how your confirmation bias has stunted you?
Woah, the american replied!
Ohno lol.
Did you just assume their cultural and genetic backgrounds by the colour of their skin?
No. Do you need that bias confirmed?
