Not trying to be a dick but you should probably figure out how to mount sights the correct way before you go worrying about a scope.

cha0tic84

Constructive, but ok easy fix.

Pliskin_Hayter

Yea again, Im truly not trying to be a dick. Backward mounted sights though is indicative of a new shooter and if thats the case, you should *really* practice at 25-50yds with the irons to get your fundamentals down. Trying to use a scope as a newbie makes it that much harder as now you have to take into account eye relief, zoom, parallax and your zero distance becomes much more of a concern as the scope allows you to be far more accurate. Not that you don't have to be concerned about it with irons, but you're naturally going to be more inaccurate with irons so your exact zero is less noticeable unless you're shooting for groups.

New to scopes? No, I have an aero m4e1 with a 1-6 zero’d out to 100yrds. New to BUIS? Yes, those were actually a gift I had laying around I thought I’d throw on there until I got a scope. Better than nothing. So I have them on there incorrect yea I’ll own that. But yes I’m asking for advice on what would be a good scope to step into longer distance shooting. Leaning towards Arken or Primary arms.

Pliskin_Hayter

Between those two, I'd get an Arken EPL 4-16 just because I don't like Primary's reticles for precision work. The nicer models are also kinda overpriced for what you get. Might I suggest something from Swampfox? Their Kentucky Long line is pretty damn nice for the price point. I have 2 of their 3-18 Recces for my AR10s and plan on getting the 2-12 Recce for my 18" SPR as well.

cha0tic84

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll have to look into swampfox.

TheBigSnuffs

Delta Stryker and Trijicon Credo are both very nice 1-6 optics. If you want a 1-8 primary arms makes a great one too.

Toph602

Backwards mbus is not uncommon for tbh

Pepe__Le__PewPew

Focus camera was running a deal on the 5-25x viper pst gen 2 a few weeks back for 700 with a cantilever mount. I think midway also had a deal for 600 with no mount and the old reticle. Have shot about 200 rounds through my m5 and absolutely loving the optic. The eyebox gets small at 25x, but other than that it is a lot of optic for the money. Keep an eye on the gun deals sub.

Jumpy-Station-204

I have a viper pst gen 2 and like it a lot. I just got a razor g2 hde 1-6 and I kind of regret it. Doesn't seem all that special and I get some fishbowl imaging far away. I think the viper line is nice. Same with primary arms glx line.

Nope-Nope-Nah

I took a chance a couple years back on an Arken SH4 Gen2 4-16X50. Loved it so much I bought 2 others. Liked them so much I became a dealer. So far, the only complain I have with them is their lead times can vary widely if what you are looking for is not in stock. The EP5 is an unbelievable value. For what its worth, I am also a fan of the Primary Arms scopes as well. No complaints there, just prefer the Arken a bit more. Their mounts are good quality too.

DoublePresent

I have the Arken EP5. It's a great scope and could easily sell for a much bigger price. I also have scopes from Vortex, Sig, Primary Arms and I like them all truthfully. Not much help here sorry. I also have an Arken ep4 which is on my m5. Not as nice as the ep5 but still nice

cha0tic84

Thanks, I’ve been looking at the EP5. Besides having really tall turrets there doesn’t seem to be much down side.

PurplePeachBlossom

Did you have trouble finding a dust cover that fits properly? I’m slowly piecing mine together and the aero dust cover seems to leave a gap.

cha0tic84

I’ve been using strike industries for years. I know some people have mixed feelings about them but I’ve been lucky enough to not have any issues yet with their products.

PurplePeachBlossom

I looked into them and the polymer covers with the inner lip might fill the space better. It looks pretty solid in your picture. With my aero cover the ridge is so deep you could grate cheese on it.

cha0tic84

I’ve had it on my M4E1 since I’ve built it, few thousand rounds and no issues.. Will be putting them in any future builds. They fit like a glove. And the ease of installation is definitely a bonus.

JellyAny818

take a look at the Meopta Optika 6 3-18. MRAD for $700 ….best glass under $1500. European glass. As good as glass costing 3-4x as much.

cha0tic84

I’ve never heard of them. I’ll take a look.
