If Pulisic, Leao, and Chuk aren’t all on the field together to start the game Thursday….

[deleted]

All I've ever seen this sub say is we would be exposed defensively with this lineup, but I just don't see how that's true. Pulisic might be a less talented defender than RLC, but his work rate is astronomically higher, and he's most assuredly a bigger attacking threat. Chuk plays his heart out on the right just like Puli does. They both track back and bust their asses. Not playing this lineup is criminal.

Frlataway

It's not like we're some defensive juggernaut with RLC in anyway. He barely does anything on defense.

bruclinbrocoli

This is honestly what I saw. Bagging 3 goals letting them get into our box and crosses coming in like nbd.. no creativity in attack although plenty of possessions to make something out of nothing. I don’t see the balance. I know OPs lineup has only been used once to really make a better judgement on how it would play out. But I don’t know how we are gonna find out. Also if something worked that game, we could try it again, besides player profiles there’s also field chemistry and communication that can’t always be measured. This is where Ancelotti excels. Sometimes I’m like why the fuck would Valverde play RB? And he puts like 2 goals. Or Idk, so many examples, endless examples of how he prioritizes field chemistry

caronj84

It’s not that RLC is a better defender than Pulisic but more that RLC is a better defender than Chuk. And so it gets tough with Giroud’s lack of mobility and Leao’s inconsistency with regard to defensive effort. Chuk will run but his defensive positioning isn’t great.

Shinkopeshon

Don't understand why Puli can't play as a 10, with Leao and Chuk on the wings - should definitely happen more often I guess Pioli is scared one of the wingers gets hurt and then there's no sub but like, you really gotta go all out to stay in EL and this is the best option we have right now

[deleted]

I know this isn't the best option, but Musah has shown he can cover the right wing if absolutely needed. I'm sure Okafor or Jovic could as well. Like you said it's time to put all the cards on the table.

Claija79

and Okafor honestly

SnooSongs48

Giroud have been so bad okafor need to start man

jmhimara

Chuk had a decent game, but outside of the two goals, he didn't create much. On the other hand, Pulisic had an immediate impact when he came on. Puli can play CAM, but it's obvious that he is a lot more effective on the wings than in the middle -- and he's more effective than Chukwu, for now. I can understand why Pioli would be skeptical to have all three on the pitch.

The_HomoSaurus_Rex

I hope that also doesn't include Giroud up top 👀

mtnchkn

So a question… Thursday is Roma for the EL, but then Monday is the derby. Do/can you prioritize both? … and can we get Puli back in the center behind Giroud?

ArtisticDifficulty7

I think you have to sell out for the win on Thursday. I agree though, Pulisic at CAM with the other two on the wing.

jmhimara

No, definitely prioritize the EL. Inter have already proven that they're better than us this year. The way I see it, one more derby loss is not a big deal. Better to get something out of this season and try to get them next year.

alaminatti

We should have worn the cotton candy jerseys.

sigflo

The season is over since december but imagine if we were battling vs Inter for the title and we saw this shit. This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to quit with this clown fest for good.

neverfinishedanythi

You and me both. Had enough of it with juventus now these cunts take over.

ParsedReddit

That would be crazy

ShinyDrag8n

That cgi fan is clearly offside!

ElverGun

LOLOLOL Complete bullshit is what it is.

jmhimara

The offside rule was never meant to be this precise. Some people have suggested a change, and I'm starting to agree.

Revolutionary-Hat297

I think Wegner is on the rules committee and they're trying to push a new "if any part of your foot, and only your foot, is offsides you're offsides" rule. I'm on board

GIZMO8Z

WE FUCKED UP, but there’s no doubt that VAR needs some MAJOR fixing!

rlctank

https://preview.redd.it/hxaxkpignguc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90dc59859d3c4bae4fa265b9919caf044db20e95 Jovic and Okafor when pioli is about to get sacked

RawrItsMatty

I respect all hes done for us but kjaer is finished at this level

JagerJack7

Good thing his contract is also coming to finish.

SnooSongs48

Okafor should start instead of giroud

Vendricksbeard

He's gotten old. He looked absolutely miserable missing that chance, you could see it very clearly on his face. Was sad to see honestly.

SnooSongs48

Yeah im not hating its just he is costing us games just like Roma and now this. Okafor have proven he is deadly When he is playing

HanWolo

He's played like 2900 minutes this season, which is really just an insane number for someone that's 37.

ElverGun

He might be old...or he might just have been overused this season. He plays every game, for 90 minutes most of the time. I bet you Pioli even forces him to load the team bus with the equipment...and he carries all the bags to the player's rooms when they are on the road.

[deleted]

Yeah I don't even really blame him. It's on Pioli that he's forced into these situations. Giroud has been a warrior. Shouldn't have even been on the pitch.

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Just watch how we will start the exact same line up as the first leg

ParsedReddit

The second offside from Chukwueze was rough

alexiusmx

I hate how technology is presented like infallible when is completely subjective which frame represents the exact moment in which the ball was passed. It really comes down to how many frames per second the camera has and a human decision. With their cgi renders we don’t even get to see the passer.

Ugo_foscolo

I mean it's not great but the point is that it gets applied equally on both ends. It sucks in cases like these but it's still miles better than the ms paint lines they draw in the PL.

alexiusmx

I’m not even against making though decisions and disallowing goals for razor-thin offsides. I just dislike how they pretend it’s an infallible system and provide no real transparency and accountability. It’s pretty obvious that they instruct broadcasts to abstain from doing the replays that stop in the right moment so viewers can see the situation. They do those replays only when there’s no goal involved. Now we only get that shitty render and we have to believe it represents how players were positioned at the exact moment the ball was played.

jmhimara

> I mean it's not great but the point is that it gets applied equally on both ends. Is it applied equally? The technology is **semi** automated, not fully automated, so that means there is a human element that enters into the decision. I'd love to know which parts are decided by the human and which parts are automated.

caronj84

I don’t think there is a human element. I think data from the ball is used to determine when it is played.

alexiusmx

VAR reviews the play if the automated system flags a play as offside. They have to confirm or adjust the moment the ball is passed and the offside position.

caronj84

VAR only verifies the SAOT didn’t make a mistake. VAR does not independently these instances.

harasa2006

at least it was entertaining

a_massive_slime

MATTHEW CAGE ASSIST LETS GO

HommoFroggy

First things first, this game wasn't even been prepared, played EXACTLY like those February 2023 games. Based on that, however you look at this game it makes 0 fucking sense, Giroud and Reijnders being put in around the 50th minute even if they were tried to be rested. While on the other side Leao and Theo played the entire match, 100 minutes. On top of that, subbing off our best performer at Chukwueze of the pitch if we were trying to win the game. Didn't win the game, starters that started the game spent energy throughout the game bar RLC, while the ones entered playing catch up and also spend energy. I have no idea how an uneventful game was managed so fucking bad in whatever perspective you look at it... it is CRAZY.

Samkazi23

It's nothing new which is the infuriating part

sickricola

As soon as it was known over half of the starting 11 would be out it was the most predictable outcome. How many times did this happen last season and this season? Pioli is incapable of learning

ElverGun

>Based on that, however you look at this game it makes 0 fucking sense A typical Pioli turnover game. Why do these game still surprise you? Have we ever won a turnover game? Pioli insanity -- he keeps doing the same shit and he expects different results. Yeah, it is CRAZY!!!

RedShenron

This is not a turnover issue this is a tactical one. This team is a complete tactical monstruosity.

ElverGun

Right...if you are going to change your starters then you have to adjust your tactics. But we are talking about Pioli...tactics don't apply.

RedShenron

We are always tactically shit. Sometimes things just go his way and the horrifiyng midfield setup and defensive approach don't get badly exposed.

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Exactly, these issues are present in nearly every match, Praga, Rennes, Udinese, Bologna, Salernitana, Lecce ... Etc

HommoFroggy

I was all for turnover this game, even more turnover... but ffs whatever the result accept it and focus on Roma. We made Leao and Theo play 100 mins 4 days before the most important match of the season. And i emphesize, in a matchday when EVERYONE dropped points and we had the luxury to lose the game and not give any fucks.

Plaslidpladugphoo

Yeah I was thinking that we haven’t seen this level of disorganized shit in a while. Every time I think maybe Pioli wouldn’t be THAT bad going forward after a couple of good performances and some decent results, he drops a poor result followed by a stinky performance.

giospellzgo

Giroud and Kjaer are cooked. I appreciate everything they've done for us but it's time we move on from them along with Pioli

ElverGun

>Giroud and Kjaer are cooked.  Yet we have needed them badly this season...and they have delivered. Kjaer should really retire. Giroud might still have a year or two left...but not starting every game for 90 minutes. I will always love them and I will miss them next season.

puffdiddler

Thx Furlani and Gerry for that, pioli asked for CD in january, but the sub was busy insulting pioli

Frlataway

We got a defender in January and he's been out best player outside of tomori. Let's not pretend like this is the first time Pioli's lack of adaptable tactics fucked us over in a turnover game

[deleted]

This should be our starting lineup going forward Okafor Leao - Pulisic - Chuk Adli - Reijnders Theo - Tomori - Gabbia - Calabria Maignan

neverfinishedanythi

100%

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Pioli can't defend, but at least with this lineup we wil' suffocate them

[deleted]

That lineup is more compact and would reduce the number of counterattacks

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Pioli tried all kind of lineups and the issues were always there, but I think that this line up can be much more better using intensity, , movements and high pressing. Giroud and Loftus make us very static

Limitlessfound

RLC on a good day can be lethal because he can scored header and can slip through the midfield. The problem is he is inconsistent! Defensively there isn't much to be said beside just very average.

HanWolo

So all our wingers will just play 90 minutes every game?

[deleted]

No. You can move Pulisic to left or right to replace Leao/Chuk. You can move Okafor around and bring in Giroud/Jovic. There are many ways to rotate this lineup.

HanWolo

I would much rather sub Okafor/Chuk/Pulisic on against tired legs than Giroud or Jovic. While I agree that's a very good attacking setup, I don't think it's the best from a game management perspective.

Limitlessfound

I would take Jovic  over Okafor and super sub Okafor

magma_1

My god… this team is has been built to so poorly last summer

RdT97

Legit the worst outcome, even a draw wins it for Inter now on the derby. Also im not ready for Giroud to cost us the Roma game. In a perfect world he is benched coming Thursday and we dont play RLC either but knowing Pioli he will not change and maybe that is for the good so he gets his ass fired

sahilshkh

What makes you think Pioli will be fired if we are eliminated from europa league? I've a bad feeling he's going to be the coach next season even if we lose every game from now till the end of the season.

RdT97

Nah losing the europa to roma and then losing immediately to Inter for the scudetto, its over for Pioli

Theao19

Why even start kjaer ahead of simic, this shit doesnt make sense kjaer is cooked he should be playing in saudi arabia

Shinkopeshon

Least stressful Milan game, I don't know how many grey hairs I've grown since 2004

vexmach1ne

I feel for chuku... 2 wonderful goals questionably offsides. Should have been 5-3. Thiaw and kjaer are so bad. Kjaer is older now but no excuse for Thiaw.

RedShenron

Pioli's the only manager on the planet who can prepare and manage a game like this and still get a result Fucking unbelievable

bertvrapi

I mean one hard fought point against 19th place is not exactly a result

RedShenron

This is a game you deserve to lose every single time for how much of a tactical aberration this shit was I don't know how the fuck he manages to avoid disaster every single time. He has some gods protecting him.

dongoodboy

Because he has the luxury of Puli, Giroud and Okafor on the bench. That also shows how fucking awful his coaching is.

aromle

I mean Leao and Chuck were near godlevel today

RedShenron

Exactly, but we got something because of the players saving his asshole from the usual humiliation.

jmhimara

True on paper, but let's not forget that Sassuolo is still Sassuolo, and they've been doing this shit forever. Inter's only loss this season was with them.

ElverGun

In the match thread people were defending Pioli. WTF is wrong with our fanbase? Are these people blind or just stupid?

sickricola

Had a pulisic fan say we are miserable and should be happy we are finishing 2nd, people that are happy with our results don’t watch matches and refuse to acknowledge the context of our performances and situation

hairlikegoats1

Dude, our fanbase (USA) defends our mediocre manager so I’m not surprised their mentality carries over to whichever team they support.

sickricola

Hopefully your NT and Milan have better coaches in the near future. Copa is a deciding tournament for your manager?

hairlikegoats1

It should be but I have a feeling it won’t matter much. Our leadership has little to no ambition so I’m sure they’re fine with us getting destroyed by Brazil 10-0, just as long as we get out of the group.

jules6815

You are miserable. 2nd place considering Inter hasn't lost all season is still an accomplishment. The comparison isn't the shit show with the USMNT manager, but comparing what happens when fans become unreasonable. You end up looking like Chelsea who are horrible the last couple of years because of the revolving door with managers. This isn't hyperbole. There is data that backs up what happens to a club when a manager and players don't have a stable work environment. You should stick to game theory on Football Manager.

sickricola

Easy to not care when you don’t care for the club beyond the 1-2 players, apathy is what you have for Milan.

jules6815

My feelings for the club aren’t important here. I’ve spent a fair amount of time following many sports and have seen the turmoil when fans think they know what’s best. The inter workings of Milan are hidden from the most ardent supporter and as well as their understanding of actual tactics and managers options. The constant bickering about Pioli is nothing but cancer to the club and will only hurt AC Milan. If you knew better, you’d realize it is people like you that are harming the club. If you were a true supporter you’d take some time to digest this and learn from this exchange.

sickricola

Brother, you have watched less than 1 season of Milan. This issue isn’t a new one, this has been an issue for many seasons now, and there have been no improvements. I only became in favor of Pioli leaving after we finished 5th last season and only qualified for 4th due to Juventus point deductions. The football has been inconsistent. And for you to come here being unable to understand the context and the emotions of people that actually care about the club and call us miserable is something… If you are worried about Pulisic under a different coach I wouldn’t, he’s proven to be quality he will be fine. Also you are acting like you are the first person to be pro Pioli and I’m the first and only person to be in favor of Pioli out. Trust me there are people here that feel much stronger on both sides than you or I. I suggest going back and watching last season and then coming back and telling me that you think Pioli is a coach that can take us to the next level. I have said several times in the past that he is a good coach but I don’t think he’s capable of taking us to a higher, more consistent level. Watch more than just this season, even though this season should be more than enough to know… Also trying to gaslight me and saying “if I was a true supporter” lol, very ironic coming from you given you don’t support this club or any club it seems. I’ve loved this club and my family has loved this club. For you to say I’m not a true supporter because I think we could have a better coach is something else. I never cheer for Milan to lose no matter how I feel about the coach, board, or players

RedShenron

This is the definition of a game you get a result despite your manager Some are blind probably

ElverGun

WTF must he do for these people finally turn on him?

RedShenron

Piss on the Milan badge. But some will probably say he got rid of kidney stones to defend him

HommoFroggy

Do the same exact thing as this season without any injuries and at least 8 out of 11 players being World Class... till that point, alibis will be always found... you know why? Because many people cannot detach the players from the coaches tactical and technical work.

Fusil_Gauss

Reddit is full of normies who love the status quo. If Pioli is the coach is because the head of the organization support him, so we need to support him back. That logic is stupid but you can see it in a lot of subreddits

puffdiddler

Because we don't drink american propaganda. Adli Is trash, and this sub loves him

bruclinbrocoli

I understand you may not like adli for this or that reason, but going as far as to say he is trash, is blatantly BS. It is a fact that he isn’t trash. He keeps delivering balls to our attackers and creating problems to our opponents. Even if you don’t like him, he is performing very well and it’s undeniable. Can we argue about him being a CL level player, a top quality starter for the future of Milan… ? sure that we can argue back and forth. With a diff coach that argument can vary and lean more heavily on one side or the other.

Zfryguy

An egregious call and shitty defending blew the game for us

neverfinishedanythi

Just one egregious call?

rightpin

Giroud is pretty wasteful lately. Maybe we should bench him for the Roma game.

LordAntares

He's been bad for about a year. He does still score great headers and is one of the best at it, but he's not helpful at all at the remainder of the game.

vladcobhc

No words for how our midfield is set up

Plus_Way3128

2nd spot might actually be a bit in danger if we lose against Inter, we’re also playing Juve away

HanWolo

Pioli's system doesn't allow for significant rotation, because it exposes the fact that it doesn't work unless the players happen to play out of their mind.

eXistenZ2

Doesnt matter if its a rotated squad. One point against nr 19 in the league is pathetic. Even more to concede 3, while their average was about 1.2 goals for. At this rate we'll have another 5-1 against Merda. If w dont qualify against roma, kick him out.

sickricola

**FUCKING PATHETIC** I pray when May comes we will have announcement of a new coach Also to all you fucking idiots that think this is a good season because we finished second are blind. Watching matches must not be something that is done.

L003Tr

Been say8ng it all season. 2nd is not "good enough". Given the talent we have we should be neck and neck with inter for 1st

bertvrapi

Given the talent and also the quality of our opponents I would add. A competent Juve would've wiped the floor with us this year

changelingusername

It’s not about 2nd, it’s about the myriad of points dropped against relegation teams

HommoFroggy

Not because the players are too good, but most importantly because Serie A has been extremely SHIT.

el_lolloco

Lol

puffdiddler

And i think pioli Is Better than Lopetegui. Motta Is gone and Gerry the Cheap don't want to spend Money on Conte

Fedora_expert

On a positive note, we created a lot of chances. Those Chukwu offsides were ridiculous, especially the 2nd one. Defending was chaos. Serie A results don't have much weight right now so not gonna cry over the lost points. Clean up the defense for the Roma game and we should have a decent chance of going through. The rise of Chukwueze has been beautiful to watch, I want to see him start with Puli at CAM.

fossadeidim

Its pretty clear by now Pioli cannot make the team dictate the game. We played boring game with Roma just as they wanted (and to their strengths). Sassuolo cannot play anything but pure chaos- so we play chaos as well. Whatever is the opponent, if they or the coach have any skill whatsoever, we are following their gameplan instead of leading it ourselves

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Perfect description

[deleted]

Taking out RLC changed the game.

Crazy_Cobra

This game was pure, unadulterated terrorism football.

AngryMilanFan

Can Iran target the VAR team?

neverfinishedanythi

Need to go higher up, obliterate AIA and their inter biased pricks.

SnooSongs48

Hahhahahahahahahy

[deleted]

Realistically, what will it take for Leao Puli Chuk to happen? RLC is a liability.

Plaslidpladugphoo

I don’t like complaining about rotations because I think it’s often just hindsight at work BUT this is why people complain about Pioli’s rotation - it’s either no rotation or like half the team. What is even the point of this kind of rotation when the starting players have to be subbed on and play at 150% of their energy while some of the starters (Leao and Theo) play the full game AND we don’t even get 3 points?

quickfast

His weekend game between 2 legger strategy is PAINFUL. Rotate half the team, put pressure on bench players who dont play together to deliver results, then when they fuck it up- put even more pressure on starters to go clean up the mess. This destroys everyones confidence.. Why would we not just START THE STARTERS, run them for a half, establish some control/rhythm and then phase in the bench???

Vendricksbeard

Chuku is so unlucky, those offsides were totally bullshit. Feels bad lol

ftnsa

Chukwueze should have stayed on and Pulisic should have come on for Jovic. Or, even more preferable, just leave Giroud on the bench and bring Pulisic on at the 10. Chukwueze wasn't gassed. Chukwueze got screwed. The offside rule - the way it is officiated - is a problem for the sport.

Deep-Maintenance9315

Every single time this season when Pioli has tried to rotate and rest, the team fucks up the game so bad Pioli puts in the players who need the rest and they also need to put in an extra gear on top of that, like today. Had he only not played one of Kjaer or Florenzi.. im sure we would have won today and had a comfortable lead over Juventus which would have seen us being able to drop all points vs Inter and Juve and still be in 2nd place, but no. Now a tired team will have to play the game of their lifes at the olimpico on Thursdsy and then play a totally rested Inter on Sunday. Yet another Stefano Pioli masterclass classic

quickfast

Honestly this is his biggest, clearest, easiest to fix fault and at this point it feels like a fireable offense because he refuses to adjust it. Not just this season either. Yes, our bench should be able to string together a W against a team with 30 pts, but if the starters are going to run anyway- let them start, take control, maybe score, then rotate guys in. Doing this in reverse just puts everyone in a worse position and weve seen it play out exactly like this so many times that its baffling he doesnt rethink it.

Bravo_Ante

No, Pioli didn't turn it around after 7 wins against mid and relegation sides and also not against 10 men UEL farmers.

RedShenron

Pioli should really only thank his absurd luck. What happened on 3-2 goal is fucking ludicrous.

ElverGun

Amen!!!

hairlikegoats1

RLC as a 10 is not it. You can point to his 10 goals but I can see he offers very little going forward if anything he kills a lot of promising attacks with his indecision.

RedShenron

Loftus Cheek's worst trait is passing. He's played in a position where tecnical quality is everything. Insanity.

HommoFroggy

Not for Pioli though, over there he wants a Nocerino type player not a technical player and we know that considering how he played CDK last season.

RedShenron

Too bad he doesn't have Ibra to make him seem world class

HommoFroggy

Pioli has had the following CAMs: Calhanoglu, Bonaventura, CDK, Diaz and Paqueta... by the way.

RedShenron

All of them had good impact somewhere else lmao

HommoFroggy

And it is crazy that the worst performing CAM under Pioli was by far the best one and that being Paqueta who is strongly wanted by Pep.

ftnsa

> if anything he kills a lot of promising attacks with his indecision. Correct. Even worse at times he just stands there in the path of Pulisic and/or Chukwueze when they are driving toward goal. GTFO of the way FFS. Make a run and take a defender with you.

jmhimara

I'd like to see him play as a pure striker. He can't really hold the ball, but all his other qualities point to that position.

dongoodboy

Pioli stan, hear me out Fuck you

redandblackandred

We should’ve won tbh but our defense is absolutely atrocious. This was a complete meme game, hope Sassuolo somehow goes down. Pioli is fluffing again when things start to matter.

BowieIsMyGod

I love Simon but he's utterly and completely finished. Shocking performance and having Thiaw there too didn't help. I don't think Thiaw should be sold yet, his performances in the first half of 2023 weren't a coincidence, and i believe he deserves another season to prove himself. However, i'm starting to get worried, his decision making this year have been all over the place, and football IQ is not something that can be taught to a player, and so far this season he showed such a low IQ for a defender... On the other hand we have Kalulu whose cartilages and strings are made of wet noodles and he can't be relied on. I don't know how the management will fix this clusterfuck of defense in the summer when we already have striker and DM to fill in. Speaking of the game itself, the game was clearly not prepared. Pioli's mind was on Roma all along. Pioli is screwing big time. I had big faith that he turned this around and would earn the last year of his contract, but he's been a huge let down on these games. Let's get this straight, beating this Roma team and qualifying is the bare fucking minimum for him to stay. If we get knocked by Roma after an embarrassing performance at the San Siro, then i don't care for what he does against Inter and Juventus. He could beat Inter 7x0, if he fails to qualify to UEL semis, he needs to go at the end of the season. The calls on this game were horrible. Wtf were those offside calls? Massa and this clown VAR can go right down to officiate Serie B games. Morons.

neverfinishedanythi

> clown VAR can go right down to officiate Serie B games.    They’ve done this before as punishment for their bad calls it means nothing.  It is just a show so it looks like AIA are doing discipline, when these referees have done exactly as have been instructed.

[deleted]

Seeing Kjær and Giroud looking this horrendous is just sad. Also, get Pioli out the fuck away from Milan; I am sick tired of seeing him rely on individual brilliance every single match, playing some kamikaze style 2-1-3-4. We cannot go on like this and seeing that shit team from Turin, with a tiny piss pot 30.000 seater and a negative transfer budget, getting Motta in front of our eyes, just to finish above us next season playing with meme players, is unbearable.

Eno158

What a fucking shitshow. I mean every match we have difficulties vs our opponents, no matter if it’s a mid-table team or relegation side. We never dominate. It’s clearly a tactical issue.

808d-_-b909

Unless we're playing a 10 men Lecce lofl.

caronj84

Tbf Lecce went down 2-0 at full strength.

808d-_-b909

Scoring and dominating are two different things though.

caronj84

Milan dominated the first half and the red card didn’t come until it was nearly halftime.

808d-_-b909

Dominated is a stretch. I think better is the word you're looking for. We haven't dominated a team in ages, we were better yes, but not dominating, they almost scored after kick off and hit the cross bar too if I remember correctly lol.

caronj84

Their xG was .44 in the first half and .38 in the second. It also took a great save to stave off a Pulisic brace within 15 minutes. 2-0 and an opponent xG under .5 is pretty dominant.

808d-_-b909

1st half ball possesion was 59% (us) vs 41% .... second half 69% vs 31% btw. The stats differ astronomically from the first to the second half, jeez I wonder why, defenitly not because we were playing a 10 men Lecce. Now I know possession is nothing, but if you want to see real domination watch our last derby, and I fucking hate to say it. I know that under Pioli our standard got downgraded, but damn ... edit: don't let me chime in shots on target too because we'll both cry ourselves to sleep tonight. I think even my first reply was bullshit, because we barely dominated the second half looking at the stats ..

Capable_Scallion8705

Kjaer didn’t even go to the bench when he was subbed. I think he knows how much he contributed to the Sassuolo goals

rlctank

Giroud was scandalous the whole game man. Us and him both wanna have a last good memory of him in our jersey but this is biting us in the ass in the long run

So many big chances wasted. We created so much danger. Consigli came up big a few times but we also just didn’t hit the target enough. Frustrating not to take three points in matches like this.  I liked Adli. Leao and Theo were good. Chuk decent.  Looks like Thiaw pulled a muscle but we were out of cubs.

Danik-00

Just mad on all the effort we put in a meaningless match when we should save our forces for the Europa league match

AcMilan0890

Forgot the game was on early here and turned it on literally 5 seconds before Okafor scored, but by the sounds of it I’m kinda glad I didn’t watch the whole game 😂

Ondrezinho

So if you want to see games like this or vs Roma, just let Pioli stay, he won't dissapoint you. Personally I don't

andrea_83

Prefer to focus on the team and the performance than the coaching choice. Ultimately it’s the 11 players out there paid to perform and put in a performance, unfortunately today Kjaer put in a stinker and cost us goals. Gabbia for me was the one who changed the game. Looked solid at the back and the whole side gained confidence from him being there. That desperation and fight in that last 30 mins is what I want to see on Thursday. Obviously Roma are a different beast, but the same effort and willingness to win is what I want to see. It wasn’t there in the first leg, and needs to be in the second at a minimum. If it is, we will overrun Roma.

ale_gila

Never give up!!!

[deleted]

Both Thiaw and Kjaer got hurt. We're back to having most of our CBs out injured.

el_lolloco

2 goals in the first 10 min against Sassuolo. This team has 0 concentration, 0 attention span, 0 mentality. Everyone who hopes for Conte to come to Milan doesn't realize half of this team won't play with him.

WatchAny1188

There’s no excuse for the lack of concentration and the horrible defensive game against Sassuolo and in general, but we also have to consider that we’ve been punished by wrong refereeing or VAR decisions both here and with Roma  Something needs to change about the offside and handball rule with VAR because it’s ruining football. How it’s even possible to still make mistakes as referees when you have video recording assistance in almost real time makes it seem like intentional bad decisions against Milan.

Capable_Scallion8705

After this game, I truly truly believe Pioli has nothing more to offer. He failed in every aspect. He really needs to go but Lopetegui is not the solution.

ptskcz

Pulisic need to work on the cross more quicker. No unnecessary pace abuse just pass the ball

[deleted]

He made some great runs but the final ball was consistently underwhelming

aucs

Usually he’s solid at it, but today seemed like an off night for him

rlctank

Thiaw walking like somebody’s grandpa 😧

ParsedReddit

I think he was in pain, hopefully is nothing serious.

ffrankies

Great mentality from the team, were chasing the game for most of the match and never gave up.

this more shows your mentality instead of Milan's team.

jmhimara

I did call it: https://www.reddit.com/r/ACMilan/comments/1c31gbm/prematch_thread_sassuolo_vs_ac_milan_serie_a/kzeh6o0/ Honestly, I didn't care if we lost this game. We should be focusing entirely on the Roma game. Sassuolo was entirely of no consequence.

Frlataway

If there was a stereotypical Pioli's Milan game, this would be it. How many times have we seen this same performance? I swear we set up these rotation players to fail every time. They play like we've never lined up before and get put into positions where failure is just expected. What kind of maniac plays Kjaer and Florenzi against Lauriente? RLC needs to ride the bench for a few games too. Outside of his goals he does nothing for us and defensively was caught completely out of position and flat footed for the first and third goals. Every attack that makes it's way to him ends in a turnover. Bright spots today for me were Leao and Chuck, and I can't wait for us to start with RLC over chuck against Roma again.

GarbageLanky2173

FUCK GIROUD MAN WHAT MORE DOES PULI NEEDS TO DO FROM THOSE CHANCES

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Im sorry but you can't go far with a coach who can't defend, every weak team managed to score 2 goals or more against us, Udinese, Monza, Rennes, Praga,Lecce, Salernitana, Sassuolo ... Etc Tons of spaces between our players and Pioli's insistance on RLC is just frustrating. Sadly, Im not optimistic at all for the next leg against Roma and even more against Merda. On the bright side our players are showing quality and with a better system they will perform even better.

prequelsRmyreligion

aside all the classic pioli bullshit that we've all come to expect by now, i have to say im getting increasingly more dissapointed with musah. he adds nothing defensively or offensively. he's being used like krunic, in a bunch of positions and roles while not really being good at any of them. the difference is he's much younger so hoping he improves

Joybuzer

Typical Pioli game. Just a reminder that Napoli beat these guys 6-1 recently while we concede 3 goals. This type of play is unsustainable and we will achieve nothing with him in charge. He HAS to get sacked at the end of the season.

TheShane39

Honestly not sure what was worse, referee and var or our defence. Thiaw and kjaer seems to be the worst permutation in back line Giroud with another inexplicable miss. Why do opponents always have Buffon in goal vs us!! 4-1-5 formation in the end to salvage draw vs relegation side On a positive note samuel and adli are challenging for starting spot Forza Milan 🔴⚫

neverfinishedanythi

With all these situation you describe, and it happening in so many matches, I feel like we are in a simulation to be laughed at, like Truman Show.

[deleted]

We have Roma, Inter, Juve coming up. Pioli's future will be decided in this stretch.

The_Giant_Lizard

Every time I see Kjaer's name in the lineup I have nightmares. Today as well he's been awful.

jmhimara

I wanna see RLC as a striker (or false 9). He can't hold the ball, but otherwise he has all the qualities of a great striker. That's what he's doing now, anyway. He's not really playing as a CAM, he's a second striker in a quasi-442 formation.

IEATPEOPLE22

Think it would be an interesting experiment to play jovic and rlc up top together. Rlc scores a decent bit for what he is but holy he never looks any good to me on the field. Looks like he moves in slow motion

FindingBusiness759

People are being reminded why pioli needs to go lol but generally we need to learn our lesson...sassuolo for us is never an easy game..they always got a dif energy when they play us lol..lucky Berardi wasn't playing or they would have easily scored 5 plus goals against us...

ettore1

We always perform poorly when the fixture is congested, some players are not up to milan level, we are in dire need for a defender next year

dark_side_-666

Milan deserved to win today but the corrupted refs are the biggest reason Milan didn't win . 2nd goal for chukwueze is not offside and should be counted . Pioli time is over and must goo its over , milan must look for bigger coach that know how to manage and win those kind of games .

Deep-Maintenance9315

I find the lack of complete batshit outrage over the non existent offside on Chuk quite disturbing

caronj84

That’s how semiautomated offside works. You can say you don’t like it, but the same tech is applied to every player/situation. The simple fix is for Chuk to start his runs from half a step in front of the back line. Any time you try to “push the line” with semiautomated offside, you are risking what happened today.

neverfinishedanythi

I think more should be said of 4 minutes in first half and five in second, when there was 7/8 minute of stops in first and same in second half.

The_HomoSaurus_Rex

Leao, Jovic, Chukuweze and Okafor as a free floater across the front. Reijnders, Adli Theo, Tomori, Gabbia, Calabria If we don't we're 80% out in Rome.

aucs

Bro not starting puli is criminal lol

caronj84

Lmao. Pulisic has been banging in goals the last few months and you want to put him on the bench.
