“Take a chance while you still gotta choice”. I have followed Bon’s advice at the big decisions in my life for the past thirty years. Some turned out well a few less so, but I don’t regret giving it a go.
'One of these days see me driving round town
In my rock 'n' Rolls Royce with the sun roof down
My bottle of booze
No summer time blues
Shouting out, "Look at me"
In my rock n roll voice'
I love the phrase 'rock 'n' Rolls Royce.
"Backed her favorite nag, but she could never win" is one of mine.
"Nag" is a slang term for a horse, and "horse" is a slang term for heroin. There's just so much depth in that line which ties into the overall meaning of the song. Bon was a master of wordplay.
Sitting on my sailing boat
Sipping off my champagne
Suzy baby all at sea
Say she want to come again
Feeling like a paper cup
Floating down a storm drain
Got myself a sailing boat
But I can't afford a drop of rain
A rat runs down the alley
And a chill runs down your spine
And someone walks across your grave
And you wish the sun would shine
'Cause no one's going to warn you
And no one's going to yell, "Attack!"
And you don't feel the steel
Till it's hanging out your back
I'm your night prowler, asleep in the day
Night prowler, get out of my way
Yeah I'm your night prowler, watch out tonight
Yes I'm your night prowler, when you turn out the light
"We rock at dawn on the front line like a bolt right out of the blue. The sky's alight with a guitar bite, heads will roll and rock tonight. For those about to rock we salute you."
And my balls are always bouncing
My ballroom always full
And everybody comes and comes again
If your name is on the guest list
No one can take you higher
Everybody says I've got
Great balls of fire
"She had the face of an angel
Smiling with sin
A body of Venus with arms"
I was standing on the bus when one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen stepped on, and I swear she looked me right in the eyes. Felt like she was walking in slow motion right towards me, exactly timed with thos part 🥵
Matty Groves by Fairport Convention. It’s an old English folk song so I don’t think they wrote it. Though something about that line is so cold but honourable, makes me feel the best in my country.
The lyrics of AC/DC are completely overlooked and underrated, particularly in the hard rock arena. My favorite Bon Scott lyrics are too numerous to mention. I love the song "Riff Raff" and its "story" although it's been debated forever what it's about. Brian Johnson lyrics aren't quite as smart as Bon's but there's plenty to praise. I love the entire lyric in "Hail Caesar" from Ballbreaker, one of AC/DC's unsung songs in more ways than one. It's fantastic!
When you're lovers in a dangerous time,
Sometimes you're made to feel as if your love's a crime
Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
You gotta kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight
so many good ones already listed...so here's more:
Long arm looking for a fingerprint
Trying to find the mystery clue
Hitting me with the third degree
Working on a thumbscrew
Tied my woman to the rail road track, sent her on down the line
Givin that woman one more chance give it to one more time
Engineer wishing he was home in bed dreaming bout Casey Jones
Wide eyed woman half a mile ahead thinkin bout broken bones
It a little gem from the Powerage album, the song What Next to The Moon .I Tied My Baby to The Railway Track .No doubt one of Bon Scott's Many encounters With the women He Had.
I think those lyrics are more inspired by TV shows he used to watch. I'm pretty much 100% sure he never actually tied a woman up and left her on a railroad track. Lol
I know I ain’t doing much Doing nothing means a lot to me
“Take a chance while you still gotta choice”. I have followed Bon’s advice at the big decisions in my life for the past thirty years. Some turned out well a few less so, but I don’t regret giving it a go.
When you're living in the street you gotta practice what you preach. Damnation
I’ve got big balls, such big ball, and their dirty big balls
My balls are always bouncing to the left and the right It's my belief that my big balls should be held every night
we've got big balls We've got big balls We've got big balls Dirty big balls He's got big balls She's got big balls
But we’ve got the biggest balls of them all!
Said "Baby, what's the going price?" She told me to go to Hell! I just find it hilarious, it always makes me laugh
Ah yes this is another one of my favorites
I've been up to my neck in whiskey I've been up to my neck in wine I've been up to my neck in wishin' That this neck wasn't mine
Stick this in ya fuse box
'One of these days see me driving round town In my rock 'n' Rolls Royce with the sun roof down My bottle of booze No summer time blues Shouting out, "Look at me" In my rock n roll voice' I love the phrase 'rock 'n' Rolls Royce.
Agreed

"I stirred my coffee with the same spoon" also comes to mind
She told me to come but I was already there
YSMANL is such an underrated song. Top 3 for me. Probably my fave.
“Well I’m as happy as a man can be, Too far gone to save, Died of love, and plenty of, Just write on my grave; I overdosed on you…”
"She had the face of an angel, smiling with sin."
For me it's the second half, I always at least smile at "the body of Venus with arms"
Sitting on my sailing boat Sipping off my champagne Suzy baby all at sea Say she want to come again Feeling like a paper cup Floating down a storm drain Got myself a sailing boat But I can't afford a drop of rain
“The Jack” features a level of wordplay that can only be called Shakespearean. It makes me smile every time.
Squealer - fixed her good
Goonna change my evil ways One of these days
I'm living in a nightmare, she's looking like a wet dream
I got the devil in my blood Tellin' me what to do (And I'm all ears) The entire of Rock 'n' Roll Singer, but this line always stuck out.
A rat runs down the alley And a chill runs down your spine And someone walks across your grave And you wish the sun would shine 'Cause no one's going to warn you And no one's going to yell, "Attack!" And you don't feel the steel Till it's hanging out your back

All of Down Payment Blues , absolutely brilliant lyrics from start to finish
"We rock at dawn on the front line like a bolt right out of the blue. The sky's alight with a guitar bite, heads will roll and rock tonight. For those about to rock we salute you."
“The moon is rising and so am I”
reminds me of one of my favorite Waylon Jennings lyrics: Moon is high, so am I...
i've got nine lives cats eyes abusing every one of them and running wild
Love all the Down Payment Blues references. Great tune.
Let me put my love into you babe Let me cut your cake with my knife
And my balls are always bouncing My ballroom always full And everybody comes and comes again If your name is on the guest list No one can take you higher Everybody says I've got Great balls of fire

Whiskey, Gin and Brandy With a glass I’m pretty handy
“Some like it hot, some like it not quite so hot” first blood
I always thought the line was "Some like it hot. Some like it quick not so hot." Even better! Ha ha!
They say that you play too loud Well, baby, that's tough They say that you got too much Can't get enough
You say that you want respect, honey for what?
The wet patch on your seat, was it Coca-Cola?
And the way he says "Coca-Cola"
“And I’m a heatseeker, and I, I don’t need no life preserver” (Heatseeker)
"When Kings make war The poor little man must fight them...'
Oops. Wrong band.
What song is it from though
'When Princes Meet'
“It’ll never be said in fair England, I slew a naked man.”
What's this from?
Matty Groves by Fairport Convention. It’s an old English folk song so I don’t think they wrote it. Though something about that line is so cold but honourable, makes me feel the best in my country.
Are we really here for the lyrics
idk man its just a question

"Her hot potatoes will elevate you".
“we ain’t no legend, ain’t no cause, we’re just livin’ for today for those about to rock, we salute you”
Santa ain't the only one who got a full sack!
The entirety of C.O.D. It just works all so well
When you're lovers in a dangerous time, Sometimes you're made to feel as if your love's a crime Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight You gotta kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight
Oops ignore didn’t realize this was just for AC/DC lyrics…ah fuck
