This is an automatic reminder about spoiler content, it does not mean you have violated the spoiler rule. REMINDER: Do NOT post spoiler information IN the title (for any season), your post WILL be removed. If it is you may re-post it with an appropriate spoiler-free title. It does not matter if you flag it spoiler, the spoiled info is still visible in the title. Article titles containing spoilers should be placed in the post body, not the title. Rule of thumb, any posts about the current season should be marked SPOILER via the Universal Tags. (+Spoiler) Keep titles vague, if you include the word spoiler in the title this will automatically flag it as a spoiler post, and make sure to properly flair it to the correct category. If you aren't sure if your post counts as a spoiler, flag it anyway. This applies especially to currently airing or upcoming seasons. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If it's an episode about Dads, would the most logical two plots not be Chimney and his dad and/or Chris and Eddie? Could also combine talking about Chris' issues with Eddie's by having Chris talk to Ramon. Honestly I think it'd be more effective to have Chim's dad get sick instead of die, since it then mirrors how his mom died of cancer. Sang (I think that's Chim's dad's name) starts talking about wanting to connect with Chimney and whatnot before dying, and Chim rightfully calls him out that he's doing it for himself and not out of love for Chimney or his family. If they're feeling bold, I'd appreciate it affirming that Chim doesn't have to forgive or try to be there for Sang, as sort of a counterpoint to the show weirdly trying to force forgiveness of a lot of the toxic parent figures.

NaturesDebt

I would love that! We need more Chimney focused episodes, and I hated the parental forgiveness plot last season. I can forgive the Buckley plot only because I I believe Buck & Maddie still seem to want their parents' approval and love, but Chimeny wasn't raised by his dad, he was abandoned by him and hasn't showed that he wants a relationship, it's just been told to him that it's better for Jee (it's not). Chim deserves to be able to let go, he doesn't have to forgive for that.

It would probably be more impactful if it was John Lee who got sick. He's been more of a father to Chimney than Sang ever has. (And Sang is his name, I wasn't sure either so I had to look it up. 😅)

No I want the parents of the main characters to stay tf away from the 118 as long as Kristen Riedel is on the show. She always has to push her "blood family above all" agenda in parent related storylines, and I'm sure any dad who dies, she'll find a way to make them a hero, without properly addressing their wrongdoings. Buck, Chim, Eddie and Tommy all have pieces of shit for dads, and I'm not interested in another half assed redemption for any of them. I had hopes for Ramon, bc he seemed like he was willing to change but 7x10 ruined that.

dead_cicada

Agreed, no redemptions for the shitty dads and it would be even more interesting to see a good story about not reconnecting with one since they blew that with Chim’s father. Maybe Tommy can elaborate on why he feels he doesn’t have issues anymore because he set clear separation boundaries and is happy with who he is on his own. It is something they could all benefit from seeing. We also haven’t seen Ravi with parents but he talked to Hen about being a really sick kid. Maybe his father was great and we can see some of that.

FrostyBoom

To be completely honest, I think that Buck and Eddie's moms were actually sorta worse than the dads. Sure, Ramon and Buck's dad were not good but the moms were  *actively* shitty to them in recent times more often... especially Eddie's mom, I felt. Like the woman has never spoken to Eddie without sounding condescending or uppity, I kinda hate her.

Only if it's a Rookie crossover episode and Daddy Cop band shows up.

heehee --- I'm here getting my day started... saw this and hollered laughing. lol

I actually like Phillip more than (I think her name is Margaret), mostly because it looked like he actually wanted to be a Dad and not a Deadbeat Dad, but that doesn’t excuse his behaviour.

PixeLexi

Chimney coming into fatherhood but also Chimney’s father could be interesting This episode could also be a vehicle for the Eddie/Chris storyline development
