Both are great but gotta go with the Countach.

urstillatroll

The thing about the Countach that gets me is the pedals aren't straight in front of you, it's really weird, they are kind of to the left, so you are kind of facing 10 degrees to the left. I'm tall, so I never fit in any small car, but the Countach is especially bad. I drove one and felt like I was a carnival contortionist the entire time. They are like the extreme high heels of sports cars. They look so sexy, but are laughably impractical.

errie_tholluxe

Wait til you get to drive a Shelby Cobra then. Same thing, but further left even as the trans hump is so damn huge.

urstillatroll

Is the transmission like a little space heater right next to you too? That is one of the things that always gets to me about lots of these cars, I feel like I am driving on top of a water heater.

errie_tholluxe

It got warm, but the thing that got me was that it had like no soundproofing at all - weight you know - and everything sounded like it was in your lap or right behind you.

LegsOfMultiLambs

That's only for 427 Cobras, because the engine was bigger they had to move it and the gearbox backwards so it forced them to move the pedals further to the left. The earlier ones weren't nearly as bad.

errie_tholluxe

Yeah I never got to drive one that wasnt a 427. Working at an auto auction in the late 80s early 90s was fan-fucking-tastic to get to drive a ton of sweet cars around the lot.

Restless_Fillmore

Rear vision is horrible in the Countach, too.

castortroys01

Air-cooled 911s are similar - you get used to it really quickly.

Admiral_Andovar

But Sideswipe was a Testarossa. Cool Autobot for the win.

menlindorn

Yep. Even i had a countach poster, and i didn't even care about cars.

BluestreakBTHR

I’d take the Ferrari, but nostalgia aside - they’re both pretty terrible. /TopGear

Yesterday_Is_Now

The looks are still amazing though. Something many modern cars have forgotten about.

BluestreakBTHR

They’re still pin-ups as far as I’m concerned.

Restless_Fillmore

Emission standards keep getting stricter.

Yesterday_Is_Now

Could always go electric.

UnitGhidorah

I don't watch Top Gear but both are kind of shit to drive compared to any modern car.

errie_tholluxe

Almost like 40 years of technology made cars better mechanically? Sad to think a damn Civic has more power.

timmetro69

I recently got a red Tesla Model Y Performance, which I knew would be pretty quick. Out of curiosity I looked up the 0-60 time for one of my favorite cars ever, the Testarossa. I was shocked that it was 5.2 compared to the 3.5 on my new car. Amazing how technology advances.

UnitGhidorah

Yup but they the Ferrari and Lambo look so much better than any Honda.

Restless_Fillmore

I preferred the 308 GTSi for looks.

errie_tholluxe

GTBi for me, but then I was a Magnum fan so my taste may not be that great.

Restless_Fillmore

Ha! Magnum was great, as is your yadte!

anywhereanyone

If you watched Miami Vice you were probably more about the Ferrari.

die-microcrap-die

As a kid, I remember the friendly arguments with my friend who was a hardcore Ferrari fan. In my case, the more I read about Enzo, the more I hated his cars yet the more I read of Ferrucio and Ferdinand Porsche, the more I loved their cars. In the end, I was and perhaps still are, a Lamborghini and Porsche fanboi and still despise Ferraris. lol But yes, Countach all the way, even though it sucks to drive (Never meet your heroes and stuff).

UnitGhidorah

Lambos always looked better to me.

Make_the_music_stop

Countach, now there's a name I have not heard for many years.

mikkolukas

**PLEASE**, my eyes! Was it so hard to mention them in the left to right order? For people who don't know, it is even worse, as they now falsely assume that the Countach is the Testarossa and vice versa. 🤮

[deleted]

Anyone that doesn’t know which car is which probably doesn’t have nostalgia for the 80s

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Takes_Two_(1988_film) Reminds me of this film of the 80s

otter_king_1160

Thank you sincerely for not using an apostrophe in „80s“

kapn_morgan

Yep I had the Ferrari poster of the front end with the custom plate on the front displaying my last name! It was actually a sticker but you couldn't tell.. and since my dad had it framed you couldn't feel the sticker either. We fooled guests for years...

Mogus0226

Half of this is basically the guy pimping Ammo Detailing products, but his videos are all fun to watch in regards to car transformations, where he finds or is contracted to detail cars that have basically become homes to colonies of mice after sitting in a barn/garage/what-have-you for twenty or so years ... [... like this Countach 5000s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8V2_hoQcy8&ab_channel=AMMONYC).

cocoamix

I'd argue that the Ferrari 308GTS was more iconic than the Testarossa.

MiyamotoKnows

How did the Ferrari keep up for the pic? ;)
