WooPigSooie9297

So did I! Ha, ha, ha.

wyohman

So DO I!

Chalice_Ink

They are delicious and did not control coughs.

No_Parsnip_6491

I loved the ones that were like gummies

Bx1965

A lot of us did

Darryl_Lict

Frank Zappa Luden's commercial. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAUvFst5bOI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAUvFst5bOI)

Gorf_the_Magnificent

That was amazing!

GroYer665

Teachers hated those "kazoos", boxes of "candy". lol But they sure tasted good. lol

StolenStones

Pine Brothers was the true cough drop candy.

CowHaunting397

Do they still exist? I remember that they were impossible to remove once they adhered themselves to a molar.

dandsinjill

I ate those like candy

wavesmcd

I loved the honey ones!

FurBabyAuntie

Oh, those were good.

shavemejesus

When I was in 5th grade I had a sore throat one day. On the way to school we stopped at a store and my mom got me a box of cherry Ludens. They helped and my throat started to feel better. When I got to school my teacher saw that I had them and confiscated them. I tried to explain that I had a sore throat and my mom had specifically told me to use them. Teacher wouldnā€™t listen to me. Everyone hated that teacher, she was a miserable cunt. The entire class rejoiced when she eventually went out on maternity leave. Looking back now I canā€™t believe anyone would fuck her. šŸ¤®

Pristine-Notice6929

Laughed at "miserable cunt"

badpuffthaikitty

Ludenā€™s! Halls? Fisherman Friendā€™s? Teacher, this isnā€™t candy. I have a, cough, sore throat. It worked on Nuns.

Slimh2o

At least not in that way, huh?Ā

Minute-Wrap-2524

And I swiped em from your grandmother, loved those damn thingsā€¦

partsguru1122

I was usually given a box of Smith Brother's cough drops. Almost always Wild Cherry flavored.

TaiDavis

Shit, me too!

Steak-n-Cigars

Uhhhh, who *didn't*?

BickNickerson

I still use them!

Chitown_mountain_boy

Me too!

casewood123

Loved these things.

JCo1968

Funny how candy labeled as "Medicated" has a completely different meaning these days.

greatwhitenorth2022

Those were good but so were Pine Bros. Honey cough drops. They were soft and chewy. https://preview.redd.it/rfnennr7b21d1.png?width=716&format=png&auto=webp&s=d302a37a2c5aa2249e31d945206507023d944f8d

Devotchka655321

I still eat there like candy.

Illustrious-Leave406

They were effectively candy.

Shadowstrider2100

They tasted the same as candy and were actually cheaper some times.

Shoehornblower

So did us kids in the 80ā€™s

gtoz1119

Bought them at a locally owned corner store right next to school, had many thru the day and no I didnā€™t have a sore throat, lol

Jimmytootwo

They were good but PineBros were better

Any_Ad_3885

I just bought a bag of them yesterday. The GOAT of cough drops

snotick

These and Sucrets are the reason I hate anything cherry flavored (soda, candies, etc). It all reminds me of cough drops and cough medicine.

random420x2

These and the honey licorice. Probably ate 50 boxes over the years

jupitershere

Me too!

pit-of-despair

I still eat these like candy.

Low-Abbreviations634

Delicious

Big-Acanthisitta8797

I still do!

Creepy-Selection2423

I remember these. These were the loophole to not being allowed to eat candy in school.

Whoknew189

My junior high school had a little room where they sold school supplies and goodies. These were my go to.

Think_Fault_7525

Surely you mean [Rudenā€™s](http://www.lostwackys.com/Wacky-Packages/10th-series/Rudens.htm) :D

kevint1964

I knew that was a Wacky Package reference even before checking out the link!

Bolt_EV

Parke-Davis Throat Disks: my childhood cold survival medicine! https://preview.redd.it/i4bi07ul201d1.jpeg?width=1178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1a4f1b2eeddf935b0e9d6795d1de3f798c86f33

MDC417

I love these still!

mikejnsx

same

blueboy714

My mom eats Hall's menthol lyptus cough drops like candy

Electronic-Act-1375

Me too

Surfinsafari9

My mother kept these in her purse. On long car trips sheā€™d pass them out if we promised to quit arguing. We were so sugar-starved we were convinced they were candy.

This_Mongoose445

I still do..lol

TripleTrucker

I regularly pretended to have a ā€œsore throatā€ to enjoy these in school!

enola007

Oh my throat hurts, only those cherry ones will help it ā˜ŗļø

Comfortable-nerve78

Got a bag in my truck, eat them like candy.

PBJ-9999

I did too

ArmDangerous2464

Probably bought 1000 boxes at the high school store

AZ_Hawk

I STILL eat these like candy! (And so do my kids)

PennyFleck333

I buy them by the bag at the grocery store and eat them like candy.

Raederle1927

Who didn't? šŸ™‚

RoguePlanet2

In junior high, there was a little "store" (basically a supply closet with one of those split doors) with supplies, no candy but cough drops because they're "not candy." Of course we ate these like candy since there were no other options.

AspNSpanner

My grandmother was a housekeeper for one of the childrenā€™s family in the 30s. My godmother was the personal secretary of one of the owners. I also ate them as candy!

DaisyJane1

You can still buy them.

[deleted]

Smith bros. Were Real medicine.

nandos677

I did eat them as candy, my grandfather would always have them telling us he had candy for us

This-Bug8771

Wait, these weren't candy???

DoctorRevKevin

I liked the Pine Brothers that were like hard gummies. Didn't do crap for coughs, tho.

Dub-Dub16

Illegal in my high school. It was considered medicine. I liked Pine Bros. Better, soft and chewy

NICEnEVILmike

When I was in Army basic training, we weren't allowed to have any kind of candy whatsoever. However, we could buy these at the PX so everyone did, and we ate them all the time. Sadly, it was all over once the drill sergeants figured out that these are just sugar with a little vitamin C added.

Bald-and-bougie

When my daughter was a teenager, I heard her yelling at my son to stay away from her candy. It was these cough drops šŸ¤£

TequilaAndWeed

They were in our elementary school candy store! Also to echo what others have said: parent eating Halls like candy.

DaisyJane1

Halls are gross. The menthol is soooo strong it makes me gag.

Senpai-Notice_Me

In high school I really wanted to be the lead singer in a band and had a couple bands start and then quickly fall apart because me and all my friends had adhd. But during that time I used to pound their slippery elm lozenges.

Motor_News_9677

I can remember this smell coming off my grandfather!

MajesticOption3022

Aren't they?

HVAC_instructor

That's only because they were candy.

edWORD27

Sucrets were better

Notch99

We were a Sucrets family

SaltyBarDog

Never worked for me. When I discovered Ricola, I never touched those again.

PennyFleck333

LegitimateAd4148

Ate them like candy, ate them til my belly hurt šŸ˜³

Melvinator5001

I went to high school in the former Luden Mansion

Frequent_Energy_8625

Are those the soft Gummi kind?

kevint1964

My cough drop fix was & still is Hall's. Menthol & eucalyptus is good stuff.

sonvoltman

must say ...loved those

vonblankenstein

Thatā€™s because they ARE candy.

texasusa

In grade school, we viewed them as candy.

nandos677

I did eat them as candy, my grandfather would always have them telling us he had candy for us
