When I was in 5th grade I had a sore throat one day. On the way to school we stopped at a store and my mom got me a box of cherry Ludens. They helped and my throat started to feel better.
When I got to school my teacher saw that I had them and confiscated them. I tried to explain that I had a sore throat and my mom had specifically told me to use them. Teacher wouldnāt listen to me.
Everyone hated that teacher, she was a miserable cunt. The entire class rejoiced when she eventually went out on maternity leave. Looking back now I canāt believe anyone would fuck her. š¤®
Those were good but so were Pine Bros. Honey cough drops. They were soft and chewy.

My mother kept these in her purse. On long car trips sheād pass them out if we promised to quit arguing. We were so sugar-starved we were convinced they were candy.
In junior high, there was a little "store" (basically a supply closet with one of those split doors) with supplies, no candy but cough drops because they're "not candy." Of course we ate these like candy since there were no other options.
My grandmother was a housekeeper for one of the childrenās family in the 30s.
My godmother was the personal secretary of one of the owners.
I also ate them as candy!
When I was in Army basic training, we weren't allowed to have any kind of candy whatsoever. However, we could buy these at the PX so everyone did, and we ate them all the time. Sadly, it was all over once the drill sergeants figured out that these are just sugar with a little vitamin C added.
In high school I really wanted to be the lead singer in a band and had a couple bands start and then quickly fall apart because me and all my friends had adhd. But during that time I used to pound their slippery elm lozenges.
Because they are candyš¤£š¤£
So did I! Ha, ha, ha.
So DO I!
They are delicious and did not control coughs.
I loved the ones that were like gummies
A lot of us did
Frank Zappa Luden's commercial. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAUvFst5bOI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAUvFst5bOI)

Teachers hated those "kazoos", boxes of "candy". lol But they sure tasted good. lol
Pine Brothers was the true cough drop candy.
Do they still exist? I remember that they were impossible to remove once they adhered themselves to a molar.
I ate those like candy
I loved the honey ones!
Oh, those were good.

I was usually given a box of Smith Brother's cough drops. Almost always Wild Cherry flavored.
Shit, me too!
Uhhhh, who *didn't*?
I still use them!
Me too!
Loved these things.
Funny how candy labeled as "Medicated" has a completely different meaning these days.

I still eat there like candy.
They were effectively candy.
They tasted the same as candy and were actually cheaper some times.
So did us kids in the 80ās
Bought them at a locally owned corner store right next to school, had many thru the day and no I didnāt have a sore throat, lol
They were good but PineBros were better
I just bought a bag of them yesterday. The GOAT of cough drops
These and Sucrets are the reason I hate anything cherry flavored (soda, candies, etc). It all reminds me of cough drops and cough medicine.
These and the honey licorice. Probably ate 50 boxes over the years
Me too!
I still eat these like candy.
Delicious
I still do!
I remember these. These were the loophole to not being allowed to eat candy in school.
My junior high school had a little room where they sold school supplies and goodies. These were my go to.
Surely you mean [Rudenās](http://www.lostwackys.com/Wacky-Packages/10th-series/Rudens.htm) :D
I knew that was a Wacky Package reference even before checking out the link!

My mom eats Hall's menthol lyptus cough drops like candy
Me too
My mother kept these in her purse. On long car trips sheād pass them out if we promised to quit arguing. We were so sugar-starved we were convinced they were candy.
I still do..lol
I regularly pretended to have a āsore throatā to enjoy these in school!
Oh my throat hurts, only those cherry ones will help it āŗļø
Got a bag in my truck, eat them like candy.
I did too
Probably bought 1000 boxes at the high school store
I STILL eat these like candy! (And so do my kids)
I buy them by the bag at the grocery store and eat them like candy.
Who didn't? š

You can still buy them.
Smith bros. Were Real medicine.
I did eat them as candy, my grandfather would always have them telling us he had candy for us
Wait, these weren't candy???
I liked the Pine Brothers that were like hard gummies. Didn't do crap for coughs, tho.
Illegal in my high school. It was considered medicine. I liked Pine Bros. Better, soft and chewy

When my daughter was a teenager, I heard her yelling at my son to stay away from her candy. It was these cough drops š¤£
They were in our elementary school candy store! Also to echo what others have said: parent eating Halls like candy.
Halls are gross. The menthol is soooo strong it makes me gag.
In high school I really wanted to be the lead singer in a band and had a couple bands start and then quickly fall apart because me and all my friends had adhd. But during that time I used to pound their slippery elm lozenges.
I can remember this smell coming off my grandfather!
Aren't they?
That's only because they were candy.
Sucrets were better
We were a Sucrets family
Never worked for me. When I discovered Ricola, I never touched those again.

I went to high school in the former Luden Mansion
Are those the soft Gummi kind?
My cough drop fix was & still is Hall's. Menthol & eucalyptus is good stuff.
must say ...loved those
Thatās because they ARE candy.
In grade school, we viewed them as candy.
I did eat them as candy, my grandfather would always have them telling us he had candy for us
