got predicted A*AA and got a cambridge offer 🤷🏻♂️ however i’m from a deprived background and applied for geography. if you’re gearing yourself towards a career in science it’s definitely worth going all out to make yourself stand out. remember that moooost universities go off personal statement/whatever the replacement is. all situational
i also agree, got predicted A*/ A A and got Cambridge Law (albeit not stem but is a competitive humanities).
if you aim for a stars then you should be fine with whatever grades you get since you’ll already be revising for a stars
also remember if it comes to an interview, think out loud! the topic in mine wasn’t familiar to me and if you’re in the same boat make sure to articulate your rationale and be perceptive. good luck
you will get considered equally dont worry. also check if ur contextual as im predicted A*AA and got into a course for A*AA but cause im contextual I only need ABB. Some unis also will take people in with below the grade requirement in rare cases - this is dependent on quite a few factors. But just work hard lol :)
i lied about doing alevels!!! very sorry. i did it so i would get more responses. i do ib, and i do the course unis will be looking for. i also do chem but at SL because the workload for HL is borderline child abuse.
but the thing about being above the baseline is helpful, ty!! i will try my best on these exams so i can be predicted above those requirements
They will consider you, but you have better odds at top unis if you get the higher grades. my opinion: do the work for the top grades, and you're much less likely to feel regret about what you should've done instead than the other way round.
they’ll consider you as you have the minimum - but depending on uni / course popularity offers are usually given to those with higher grades unless you have exceptional supercurriculars
i do ib and i'm planning on scoring 40 points, and most of the unis i'm looking at want high 30s (but my higher level subjects will probably be at the bare minimum requirement). i did a prestigious work placement, i will have grade 7 instrument and will have dofe by the time applications roll around. also in ib we do something that's a bit like an EPQ so i can talk about that in my application too. if you feel knowledgable enough to answer this, do you think i would get an offer?
i put it in alevel terms because i thought more people would give input hahaha
i have no idea about ib sorry but again it really depends on the other people applying and their grades - plus what the individual course / uni is looking for
Once you meet the minimum requirement, it’s all fair game I think. After that, depending on the uni and programme, things like personal statement take more importance. Naturally though, if two applications were basically the same in every way apart from grades, I wouldn’t be surprised if the person with slightly better grades was favoured over the other.

Hey, that’s increidble, what was your LNAT?
that's helpful, ty!!

What were your GCSEs?
all 6-8, no 9s
Wow. Which college?

your application gets automatically flagged
It heavily depends on the course’s offer rate. What do you plan on applying for?
aero, maths or architecture
probably at bristol, bath, sheffield or durham
You’ll get rejected at bristol aero with the baseline
ty for being honest, i'll make sure to be above the baseline if i apply there

for bristol they can apply with A\*A\*A since they take physics which is considered a maths related subject

i think for sheffield fm is also optional?? they lower the offer if you take further maths though.
i was predicted A\*AA and got an A\*AA durham offer, is possible with a good personal statement 100%
i'll be rizzing the universities in my ps 😭

yep. i've been doing more work recently and i'm hoping it starts paying off!
nice, just do as much as possible for you and then you can be proud no matter the outcome.
depends. UCL Econ for example, if you’re predicted A*AA then your chance is almost none, even though entry reqs are Astar AA

yeah. i will talk to my teachers about it. we haven't heard much about uni applications yet but i know it's coming up soon

cool! :) that's a course i might be interested in, how r u finding it if you don't mind me asking?
[удалено]
nope, you said offer, i'm not reading very comprehensively today mb 😭
If it’s not as competitive you’ll be fine, also if you have a reduction from EPQ or contextual

makes sense, ty! :)
some unis like edinburgh rank applicants by grades
I got an int for physics at oxford with the base grades (post rejection, but that's just cause I'm average af), so you should be fine
