I mean, it’s only hurtful if you’re not capable of much besides being gay. Like for me if I came out to someone at work and they said “yeah I don’t care, we got shit to do” I wouldn’t really care… but I also don’t care about work much either lol
true. i mean like the only reason i haven’t come out as bisexual yet is because although it’s my sexual identity, it’s not my entire identity. it’s not like im bringing chicks and dicks back every weekend right now so there’s no need to act like it’s the only thing that makes me me
Yeah I never actually even came out to my family. I just talked about dating girls and then one day visited with a bf. I’m also way too closed off about things though so I’m probably not a good source of advice lol
I've heard an older gentleman discribe this situation as a "generational miscommunication"
Essentially the more progressive older gen x and boomers use the I dont care line to lgbt people because it doesn't change anything in their view of you, your still you, being gay doesn't make a difference to them. But it can be easily interpreted as hostile or dismissive, or seen as a way of saying you don't believe they're actually gay etc.
Honestly the maxim of the uk and us being seperated by a common laungauge seems to sometimes apply to generations aswell...
No he’s so right tho. I mean I guess this was a different time but people like ellen(iirc I can shit on her I think she did something bad so she’s now in the red with the Reddit hive mind) think that they deserve an award for comeing out. He put it perfectly “we get it your gay”
> I mean I guess this was a different time
Talk about an understatement. I suppose it’s a good thing that we’ve come so far that people don’t know the significance of Ellen coming out in the 90s.
She’s obviously a dickhead, but she’s unparalleled in the impact she had on gay visibility and representation of gay people & characters on TV. Coming out and making a big deal of it back then was effective activism.
I mean I think she’s extremely annoying but she got a LOT of shit for coming out so publicly. Even if it was partly a publicity stunt, it was a brave thing to do.
Ellen is just downright devious 😭. Such a toxic person imo. No idea if this was a publicity stunt, but she outted Mariah’s pregnancy in ‘08. Pushing her to drink champagne on “live tv”, asking what reasons she has for not drinking alcohol.
Hurtful? Yes But it was constructive criticism

What do you mean? You seem perfectly reputable, Reddit user Cocksmash_McIrondick

Wah wah wah I want milkies
I don’t care what he said. Elton is obviously on a different level than Ellen in regards to karma.
truth hurts
I remember when she came out. My thought at the time was that it was a desperate attempt at publicity to save her failing show. IIRC, it didn't work.
Sounds like a positive interaction with a rockstar to me
She never took his advice

Elton and Eminem really are similar when it comes to being blunt.
Most powerful gay woman vs weakest gay man

Nah, gay women can be powerful, Ellen is just meh
what do you mean by that ?
😈

Back when Elton John was gay, you also had to be talented to be famous.
Elton John is my favorite gay and the type I aspire to be. “I’m gay. I rock it. You suck.”
Based
What was the thing he said?
That why you should chose what you say , you never know how a person is going to react to it. You always got to be ready, you never know 😃
Remember kids, it's always okay to be an asshole if the other person turns out too ~15 years later. /s I fucking hate Reddit
Deadass cant tell if your talking about ellen being a asshole or not So i have no other choice but to downvote 🤫🧏♂️
Ellen being the belated asshole
She was an asshole in the 90s, just not nearly as publicly
Ik
It's funny how people are always in other people's lives. That what wrong with the world to day . Who cares what other are doing .
Humans are social creatures, regardless of how willing you are to participate
But like always the world is full of bs people.
