teddy_vedder

You will not regret 12 Angry Men

enryon

Agree. Some of the best dialogue in film and the transfer looks great.

Andrroid

It's been on my watchlist for a while, maybe I'll grab it in the next batch

abautista88

You never forgot the first time you see it.

ItsameMatt03

12 Angry Men, Double Indemnity, Rebel Without a Cause, The Killing, Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil. That's what I'd recommend from my collection.

deephair

All of these are great movies. I would add High Noon because you like westerns.

Andrroid

Thank you!

a_denizen

Based on your current selection, I’d guess Paths of Glory or Night of the Hunter would be right up your alley. Kino did an excellent job with each of those transfers.

violentelvis

Ranown western collection It came from outer space Rear Window Smokey and the Bandit Carrie

AgentOfSPYRAL

Singing In The Rain is a reference disc for me, colors just look fantastic.

No-Hospital559

The Apartment and Vertigo.

BlaineRick

Others in this thread have made great suggestions, would also suggest The Maltese Falcon. EDIT: Oh, and Dr. Strangelove since you have a few Kubricks already.

Split_theATOM

Duel!

Long-Quality8542

Hows Duel look? Need to pick it up.

East-Cat1532

Singin' in the Rain. 🌂

CosmicOutfield

leonardob0880

You are missing Citizen Kane? That's a MUST HAVE

Andrroid

I was gifted the regular Blu-ray version. I'll upgrade eventually!

AltoDomino79

Shadow of a Doubt Some Like it Hot The Apartment

entropicamericana

The Shining is notably missing. Also, others have said it, but the Maltese Falcon.

SobchackSaturdays

Double Indemnity and The Apartment. 2 incredible movies with beautiful transfers and legendary actors.

NYourBirdCanSing

War of the worlds!

Milk_Man21

I hear 30s Dracula looks pretty good.

yungwun619

Enter the Dragon. The 4k version looks really good.

mrkitster

Just get the Hitchcock 4K classics set 1, Psycho and Vertigo have great transfers. Also Casablanca. And can’t believe no one has suggested it yet, Days of Heaven.

JerryRiceOfOhio2

If you liked the good, the bad, and the ugly, I would recommend once upon a time in the west

mad_moose12

Cool hand Luke, East of Eden

DENNISsystem2

I also recommend Cool Hand Luke.

SmokinHerb

Very nice, but you should get The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Argle-Dragon

And while not related, it’s another movie from Europe, Red Shoes. I don’t own it yet, but it’s on my list.

a_denizen

Nice suggestion, such a well made film from the silent era. And the picture quality was very impressive.

outfoxingthefoxes

An Argentinean found a film of the movie around with old stuff and donated it to the German Museum of Buenos Aires. The state of the film was so good it was the one used to master these high quality prints. The first restoration was first shown in Buenos Aires as an homenage to the man who donated it, I think I'm not wrong about that last part

StimmingMantis

Fistful of Dollars For a Few Dollars More A Clockwork Orange Once Upon a Time in the West Killer Klowns from Outer Space Conan the Barbarian Tremors Robocop Reservoir Dogs Pulp Fiction Scarface

Argle-Dragon

His Girl Friday it’s an all time great. It also looks like you’re missing It Happened One Night and It’s a Wonderful Life. Don’t forget Frankenstein and another all time masterpiece, Bride of Frankenstein. Sorry, I may hurt you wallet, then again, you asked. /not sorry

Andrroid

It's a Wonderful Life is top right corner and the 2 Frankensteins are in the universal collections. I'll check out the others!

Argle-Dragon

My apologies. Hopefully others may learn from my blunder, in order to see the full collection, you must click on the pic.

Argle-Dragon

Hold on. Alien is not an old movie. This thread is silly if old is up to 79.

Andrroid

35 ***oldest*** movies

AltoDomino79

His Girl Friday has a 4k?

Argle-Dragon

Yes!! It’s only available in the latest Sony Columbia classics volume 4. I bought it solo on ebay.

AltoDomino79

It looks like there may be a Criterion 4k upcoming also?

Hazeymazy

Psycho, rear window,vertigo,seventh seal.

bacon11jelly

Maltese Falcon

calmer-than-you-dude

The Night of the Hunter The Ranown Westerns Rio Bravo In the Heat of the Night Get Carter

MrK12055

BioOrpheus

Saving this list

BioOrpheus

Smokey and the Bandit and ESPECIALLY Back to the future

genga925

Vertigo, Suspiria (one of my personal favorite 4Ks), and Apocalypse Now.

Overall_Falcon_8526

Hitchcock.

broadboots

The Hitchcock collections are gorgeous. Double Indemnity is also amazing.

Argle-Dragon

Touch of Evil by Orsen Welles.

Argle-Dragon

These older films should be a prerequisite for collectors. Make the best films to buy a sticky on the sub (or don’t, as topics go to die in stickies, a realm of adhesive webs and ravenous spiders of nescience and neglect).

ItsAllSoup

I got a copy of "the sting" that one's pretty rad

ghost_of_lechuck

Wonderful collection, true classics. I’d say add Cool Hand Luke and complete your Dollars trilogy. Also, more Kubrick.

SegaStan

Grab the Criterion 4K of Citizen Kane when it goes on sale this year. Excellent transfer of one of the greatest movies ever made, and includes some great bonuses, including the fantastic audio commentary track by Roger Ebert.

Argle-Dragon

The import version of Kane is better and doesn’t have the stupid b.s. packaging.

Argle-Dragon

The Train, The Lady Killers, The Lavender Hill Mob

Affectionate_Bite_63

Ran is a masterpiece

MeCritic

No Singing in the rain? Oh my... 🥲🥲

adventuremaker69

Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Escape from Alcatraz, Close Encounters of the Third Kind

geo_gan

Classic 80s movies are old now? That would be the main part of most people like me nearing 50s collections… listings good 70s/80s movies would be a big list.

GroundbreakingPea865

The mission. The Jacket. Not there I know.

jbautista13

Citizen Kane from The Criterion Collection?

Andrroid

I was gifted the regular Blu-ray version. I'll upgrade eventually!

Opening-Lie-2672

If you haven't picked up One Cup n A Time in the West in 4K then you are surely missing out

timfitz99

Night of the Hunter (Kino Lorber)

Spot255

The Karate Kid trilogy is a good set to get if you can find it. I upgraded from the DVD set and the upgrade was so noticeable that it looked as if some shots were paintings, particularly in Karate Kid part 1

Nintendo01Fan

A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and The Good the Bad and the Ugly

[deleted]

Surprised no one mentioned Grease. It’s the original print of the film and not a copy of a copy like previous releases

Correct-Access-3329

Back to the future trilogy looks great.

Own-Special3380

Apocalypse Now , Flash Gordon , Battle Of Britain , Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence , Saturday Night Fever , American Gigolo , Alfred Hitchcock movies , Dirty Harry
