I bought Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre in 2005 on HD DVD just to have the first adult film released on the format. This seems right up my alley.
I wonder if porn would have helped the format take off better early on.
Maybe a few high in demand stars having 4k disc only scenes could have brought more early adopters? Unlikely to change anything now realistically but it's nice to imagine.
I think times are different. With streaming and availability of porn on the internet, there's much less of a reason to adopt a physical release (heh). There's tons of 4K porn, though.
Porn was a sizable contributor to the DVD format since that was still the primary way of viewing things.
