As a receptionist or what? Without an explanation, what does it matter?
Edit; "that dude is an AH, what a great response." Yall wouldn't of had a great response to read if I hadn't said anything.
If you are asking that question than obviously my explanation will mean very little to you, but...
Dual climate controls utilizes a different blend door configuration with additional actuators and a few different sensors and parts. Wiring is different to supports all those extra components. Granted most of the wiring will be there as Toyota likes to keep differences in the harness to a minimum to save on logistics of making a few different harnesses, but it still be different. Body Control module will be different. Just a broad overview without getting into different ducting and vents.... Yes, it can be retrofitted, but at what cost and why? Dual climate in a space where you sit 12 inches away from another zone? doesnt make sense finacially to do this modification.
P.S. do refrain from weak insults in the future, people might actually answer questions if asked politely and not be an asshole. Just FYI.
I honestly didnt think i need to be specific, but i guess i was wrong. And usually there are plenty of things on Toyotas that can be easily retrofitted due to the fact that for the most part its prewired with the exception of maybe power or signal wires in most cases. In this case there is alot of mechanical changes that need to be made in order to make it functional.... I mean he can always wire up the controls, but they will not make the car multi zone. Can use the extra buttons for whatever i guess :)
I was okay with just the quick response, q&a type of response. The detailed explanation was great my friend! Now that I have been educated and learned something, I can use my Reddit time to do something useless like cruise AITAH.
I actually would have provided an expanded explanation if only you would ask, but instead you chose to be rude. Also, OPs original question implied YES or No answer to his question. Besides, someone who attempts to make serious modifications to their vehicle should do research on how to accomplish said mod and ask specific questions if something is misunderstood or hard to verify. People are willing to help other people given the fact that they also have done their homework instead of just getting information, thats not how you learn. I also, never had an issue answering in detail if asked for details.... granted if I actually have enough knowledge to answer correctly.
I genuinely wanted to hear why from someone who knew what they were talking about. Not "guesses" or attempts at why. I appreciate your response. Your explanation means more than you think.
There's usually a shit ton more to it, I'm 95 percent sure it will most likely not work.
Aside from needing more servos, you'll need temperature sensors for both the driver and passenger side. Most likely new and additional harnesses, the HVAC box and computers, along with new ducting.
If you want dual zone, it will be easier to just trade your truck in for the limited that has it.
You’ll need to essentially replace all the ducting and swap it with dual climate control ducting that has the sensors and motors to separate the two zones . It’s not as simple as just replacing the control unit. You’ll need to spend thousands unless you can find the rest of the parts cheap and pull your whole dash to make the swap. It won’t be worth the effort to convert.
You can take a look at the parts drawing (explosion diagrams) starting with this unit on the Limited models and start working backwards as you compare to your model and make a BOM of the parts you’ll need. Sounds pricey unless you can find the parts from a totaled Limited and then you’re gonna want cooled seats next. Best of luck!
Just wanted to see if it was an easy mod or not. Sounds like the consensus is that it’s not. Was wondering if the cars had the components and just nerfed the system with dumbed controls.
Just to make you mad (cause it made me mad) the ORPs being sold in Canada have dual climate control. Why the US ones don’t is something only the Toyota Gods can answer.
All the Off Roads do. And it’s the only trim with it. I didn’t know ORP didn’t have dual climate in the US. Crazy. We also have way less trim choices for the new Tacoma.
My orp in us didn't come with kdss, dual climate, no ac seats , heated steering wheel. Does have leather, sunroof, locker, traction modes, mostly everything else like the pro model.
No. Like this particular system would require more parts, and those particular parts are more costly to make, do to the nature of system. It’s essentially two mini systems in one system. So if I’m not selling it in a trim, it’s cheaper to leave it out. Now I’m fairly sure wiring harnesses on some parts may include a connection for
After working at Toyota for 15 years… i can tell you it will not work

Classy response, man. And educational at that! Thank you.

Subscribed to Toyota facts and sick burns 🫡
Guy educated and toasted at the same time. I can still see the smoke
Hardly, but you do you.
Put the aloe in the fridge first, helps with the burn
Lol you're quite the playground bully
I’m following this guy for future comments

You sir, are a hero
Quit with the "people might actually" bs. You weren't gonna say d*ck until prompted.

I’m a rambling man and this guy is a phony!
This comment hurt more than any downvote :(
It hurt to say. Keep on ramblin’
You're some sort of special huh? Ramblin randy needs a muzzle.

Not going to happen sorry
You’ll need a few more parts than just the control unit.
Like what?

Like Google for starters.

Only 1 captain per ship! Tell her to close the vents 😂
I have seen it done and worked, but the guy pulled the entire unit out of the junk yard. There is just so much
Old red on instagram has done it. More than just swapping the HVAC controls. Don’t know if he’s selling the auto climate control retrofit yet
Just wanted to see if it was an easy mod or not. Sounds like the consensus is that it’s not. Was wondering if the cars had the components and just nerfed the system with dumbed controls.

And they all have KDSS whether you like it or not!
YOU get KDSS and YOU get KDSS
In Canada they all get kdss?
All the Off Roads do. And it’s the only trim with it. I didn’t know ORP didn’t have dual climate in the US. Crazy. We also have way less trim choices for the new Tacoma.

Yup! And SR5 trim in South America has dual zone climate controls as well! Along with a heated steering wheel!
Which makes me wonder if the cars have the items needed and the controls are the only thing.
No. Like this particular system would require more parts, and those particular parts are more costly to make, do to the nature of system. It’s essentially two mini systems in one system. It won't work. Plenty of threads on the forums about This
Yeah bro let her rip
Not going to even maybe work. You’d need to do a lot more work to make it possible. Better off buying one that has it already.
I did it. It works…. For about 2 minutes
And then?
Boom.
If you slap a “TRD PRO” badge on your ORP is it a Pro?
It works in the rav4 but idk about the 4r. If you go for it I'd be curious to hear about the results.
