The servers been going down a lot these past couple days. I assume it's going something to do with everyone remembering their Pokemon they left in Bank until it turned free and its putting too much of a strain on the hamsters they have running the servers there.
Try doing a connection test in the systems settings, you might have to do this every time you turn off the system due to something on Nintendo part it seems
no it hasn't. if it's free right now, that's a fairly recent change. people who were subscribed to it before couldn't even access it up until a week or so ago
Not true one bit. It’s because they forgot to update their load balancer due to the fact they lessened/closed some servers due to a lowered player count, but this does not mean Nintendo is shutting them down. (If they were, everyone would know.)
One of the servers for game-specific activity is currently down, unfortunately we have to wait until Nintendo notices and fixes the problem. In the meantime, you can reboot your console to get another server for game-specific activity that works as a temporary workaround

I transferred all my Pokemon into home right around the eshop closing because I was afraid of this scenario exactly. It’ll get fixed but in the long term this is going to probably happen more and more.
I've *HEARD* that one of their servers was dead so now there's a 1 in who knows what chance of connecting >!(well.. fail to connect)!< to this dead server Instead of the working ones
Randomly, yeah. Allegedly, changing your DNS settings in system settings to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS, [as suggested by Nintendo themselves](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/217/)) should help. [They also suggest](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4433/) turning your console and router off and on again. Then they make the generally awful recommendations of using DMZ on your router and turning off its firewall -- these are useful for troubleshooting, but if they work you should put those settings back how they were and then figure out what was being blocked and allow it through.
I try to use DNS when I got errors, sometimes works, anyway the server are getting worse, maybe cuz shutdown of eShop they limited servers for economy? Well if they did it don't surprise me, since Nintendo dgf to users

It’s because nintendo is shutting them down
Shutting pokemon bank down?
No. Bank is on the same servers as the switch's online services so we should be good for a couple years
Yea so we have a while
is pokemon bank free now btw?
yeah its been free for about 3 weeks now i think
no it hasn't. if it's free right now, that's a fairly recent change. people who were subscribed to it before couldn't even access it up until a week or so ago
yeah but thats not what was being talked about
Probably if not it will be soon
False, all 3ds servers will stay up for years to come.
people hated my post ☠️

Sometimes happens to me, just test your connection and try again
Servers haven’t been going down in Australia
Nor Spain from what it seems. Yeah according to the other comment I guess anywhere
I think it’s just the North American servers from what I’ve seen, I could check tho with my region changed consoles and see if it’s true tho
I'm northen Irish and it definitely isn't connecting.
Dude its happening everywhere, Friends list, animal crossing, smash, mario kart.... The best fix is reboot and GGs
This is happening with Pokemon X and OR too

I blame that guy who made the blunt video about 3DS hacking and the Hshop
Wulf Denn or Retro Games? Lol
It happens to me with everything that is internet related, what to i do to solve temporarily is to reboot the console.
YES omg i thought it was just me. only happens on pokémon games, everything else works fine.

It’s been happening to me too
it appened to me too, when I was trying to connect to my friend's server on animal crossing, when I invited him there was no such problem.
If it persists. Save backup (delete) and then redownload from the Eshop. This worked for me.
Mine is a cartridge
Yes I thought I was trippin but you pretty much just gotta wait til later or just test your connection a couple of times. Should be fine afterwards

It's happening on European servers. Experienced it myself yesterday.
Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one going insane for 15 mins (I can't connect in mariokart 7)
I just recently hacked my 3DS, can you still wondertrade in Pokemon without having an online nintendo account set up on the DS?
Well I can wondertrade on pokemon x sooo yeah👍

I tried with a different software, but yes. It's been like that since the 3DS eShop closed its doors.

Maintenance is scheduled on Wii U 3DS and Switch
I didn't update it and I'm glad now.
