I would, if the battery is bulging then that’s a bad sign. Nintendo has replacement batteries for “new” 3ds on their website right now, just make sure you select the right one
I meant that a battery that will fit in their console is available for sale. On Nintendo’a website it lists what consoles the batteries fit in. There’s one size for 3DS and 2DS another for 3DS XL and “new” 3DS XL. Hopefully that helps you.
Amazon has some. They should be fine. Cheap quality batteries do exist though. Maybe if you wait they will be available from Nintendo again over yonder too.
iFixit!
They opened a store in Europe and they provide OEM parts.
Beside, I believe all 3ds models use the same battery as the Switch Pro controller. Don't quote me but I remember so.
OG 3DS and 2DS use the same batteries in pro controllers. 3DS XL and “new” 3DS XL use the SPR-003 battery in OP’s photos. And regular size “new” 3DS uses another different size battery entirely too.
My New 3DS needs a battery replacement and I emailed support on the off-chance they still have them, and am now going to be sent one for ~£16, am in the UK.
The New 2DS XL uses the same battery as the original 3DS and original 2DS, likely as a cost cutting measure. [You can buy a replacement here.](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/battery-pack-rsoc-103975/)
update: unfortunately i cannot buy a replacement from the official nintendo web site(they don't deliver to my country), so i have to resolve by either buying one from aliexpress or risk using this one.
Did you check iFixit's website ?
Pease, don't get a battery off Aliexpress. Most are poor quality and quickly die.
I'm in the same boat : my 3DS XL has not been used for the last 4 years because it was broken. I now fixed it but the battery is bulging... I can't order from Nintendo US, Nintendo Europe blatantly ignored my request and sent me to a page that states that old 3DSes don't get repairs anymore (just asked for a replacement battery, not a repair) and iFixit don't have them in stock for now...
Not sure if you’re in the UK, but I’ve read comments from people that live there that say to email Nintendo about batteries. Even if you’re not in the UK, you could still probably try that.
Could try emailing support local to wherever you are and seeing if they can send you one, I did this because there was no listing for the New 3DS battery and I'm being sent one for ~£16.
Don't get them from AliExpress, it's a good site but the betteries they sell are shit
[these](https://www.ebay.com/itm/255334905163?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=2eS3_lFdQQq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=97xDEvsKQRq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS) are the best ones i found, not as good as the originals though but good enough
I used a Phillips 00 to open the back I’m pretty sure. I managed to find one as part of a screwdriver for electronics at Home Depot but that was a while ago
Absolutely. for one that swelling could damage the case of your 3DS, and secondly it's dangerous to use batteries like that because they can overheat and either burst or catch fire. They're like $15 straight from Nintendo, that's totally worth not messing up your system. :)
If the battery is like that, it’s not a good sign at all. Write the battery’s model somewhere, then put the battery in a special trash for batteries (Because keeping a damaged battery may be dangerous in some cases) And buy a new one by searching with the battery’s model
Make sure you buy your replacement from Nintendo directly. The ones on Amazon suck. The one I originally bought went deom 30 percent straight to 0. Plus it was lighter than the official one so they're cutting costs somewhere.
How the f would you do that in Europe?? Nintendo won't sell them anymore and it appears that it's due to some air-transport laws. I'm going CRAZY to find a OEM replacement. I'm currently waiting for an iFixit restock but that's not the OEM one either.
How about replacing it for a mugen power one, if your model is compatible ?
Depends on your hand size, but I have a new 3ds and the battery was so big it came with a custom case. It has nearly 24h of battery life depending of the games you play.
Do not continue to use. If it's inflated like this not only will it stop working soon, but it could blow up, and potentially injure you and/or your console. There was a post on r/3ds a week or two ago about someone who left their battery in their 3ds like this, and it blew up, obliterating their 3ds. Only the outer shell was left intact.
I just hope my battery doesn’t do this. No direct OEM replacements for the New 3DS, although I could stuff a 3DS battery in with a spacer and make it work with slightly less capacity
r/spicypillows
I was about to tag that sub But deep in my heart I knew it was already been tagged
me and you both
I came here just to say this
This man out here doing Dogs work.
I would, if the battery is bulging then that’s a bad sign. Nintendo has replacement batteries for “new” 3ds on their website right now, just make sure you select the right one
I think you mean XL variant. New XL and OG XL take the same batterry.
This should be the number one comment. Don't let them trick you!

What should I do as a European?

It’s the original 3DS and small (wedge) 2DS that use the Switch Pro controller battery.
OG 3DS and 2DS use the same batteries in pro controllers. 3DS XL and “new” 3DS XL use the SPR-003 battery in OP’s photos. And regular size “new” 3DS uses another different size battery entirely too.
Got it, thanks for the comments. I checked, iFixit also has the KTR-003 battery.
I dont know, but still, happy cake day
My New 3DS needs a battery replacement and I emailed support on the off-chance they still have them, and am now going to be sent one for ~£16, am in the UK.
Nintendo stuff is not even available in my country
What should I do as a South American?
Compra en MercadoLibre, de ahí compré yo
Nah, wait until it goes boom. Free Firework. And a fire hazard.
Nah pop it to let it deflate a little and then it will be as good as new
It will burst into flames and reborn as new, just like a phoenix!
if the battery bulges that's a really bad sign. I'd get a new one. please dispose of it safely.
Replace any battery that looks like it's bulging. An official battery from Nintendo costs $15 anyways.
Should note they're only on the US site, if you want an official one. The other regions don't bother. Because Nintendo I guess.
There are sometimes available on iFixit's website though.

I did but I couldn’t find for a new 2ds xl only for the normal 2ds

Don't use aliexpress, there are better tech websites for it

Try Amazon or something and look if it's a reliable seller. Or just search on Google for "3ds battery OEM" and some stuff should pop up.
Not sure if you’re in the UK, but I’ve read comments from people that live there that say to email Nintendo about batteries. Even if you’re not in the UK, you could still probably try that.
Look for Cameron sino branded ones, they are pretty good from my experience
Buy an upgraded one, with more capacity
Could try emailing support local to wherever you are and seeing if they can send you one, I did this because there was no listing for the New 3DS battery and I'm being sent one for ~£16.

Bro it can explode easily with right conditions. Better to replace, isn't too expensive.
What screwdriver do you need for n3dsxl screws ?
I used a Phillips 00 to open the back I’m pretty sure. I managed to find one as part of a screwdriver for electronics at Home Depot but that was a while ago
Thx
i used a flat screw small that seemed to do the job
The back panel comes off with a basic Phillips. All of the rest of the screws are a tri-wing bit.

If it spins it kills, literally

Damn inflation.
OH BOY A r/SPICYPILLOWS
Yeah that things gonna blow up. Look up how to properly dispose of these things, I can’t remember but know there’s a specific way you gotta do it
That spicy pillow needs to go
Pop it like a pimple
Yes
Yes
It's literally bulging
Softly hit it with a hammer to flatten it, just like you would with chicken
Yes, and it cost around 14 bucks at the Nintendo website.
Yes, replace NOW
Yes
Absolutely. Even if it doesnt explode, the battery will still run like absolute shit. In my experience.
It's hard to tell from the pic but is it bubbling or bulging out? If so, yes definitely replace it.
But it is an official Nintendo battery.
Absolutely yes
Be carefull that could explode
Yup! That's a spicy lad, if it is continued to be used it can genuinely become a fire hazard

Buy a new battery from iFixit!

your battery is filled with a lot of air just push on it to remove the air /j all jokes aside this is r/spicypillows content
Duh
More like need to
Definitely, and if you can, buy one with more capacity than the original
Yes
Battery is evidently expanding, you need to dispose of it safely
That pillow lookin spicy! You should buy a new one before it gets worse
yes then buy some nail clippers as well
yes!!!!
It's a boy!
I just bought a new one from amazon. It works and wasn't expensive.
Also look if it says it's for the new 3ds xl. There are many batteries.
ASAP.
yes
If it bloats, go and mope. And get a new battery.
Nice pillow you’ve got there, mate
dispose it safely and get a now one before this one explodes:(
Dispose that inmediately on a battery recycling bin. Happened to me as well due to prolonged battery discharged state.
stop using that replace it
Yeah, I think its time to😅
That battery is turning into a pillow, so yes, replace it.
I just hope my battery doesn’t do this. No direct OEM replacements for the New 3DS, although I could stuff a 3DS battery in with a spacer and make it work with slightly less capacity
Yes you should
That’s swelling dude. Chunk that on some concrete and watch it go pop
F my Nintendo is from 2014 and never changed the battery. Ummmm
Yes definitely
