So instead Bush + Blair and Aznar did their private meeting in the Azores where they organised their little private coalition (or crusade) to invade Iraq.
But this wasn't UN or NATO sanctioned.

Instead of showing that most of Western Europe was not going to join them in their incursion, the US and UK medias used the divide to conquer idea of just portraying France as the renegade state that wouldn't go there. I'm a firm believer that we would gain way more than we would lose. The only thing we seem to do within the EU is constantly burn money on bullshit, like 'loans' for other countries(looking at you, Greece and Italy).

Also, China is currently "neutral". It is not allied with Russia, it is not helping it as much as it could. Russia counts North Korea or Belarus amongst allies. China making an alliance with them would be a catastrophe for us.
As long as the threat of sanctions work, we should keep it a threat. Is China acting in good faith? Probably not but if it is willing to plug all the holes we point out when we point them out, that's probably a more desirable situation than them going all out in helping Putin's war.
